<p>I would never recommend this company to anybody. The initial person who came here was drunk. The installer did a good job, but the first person who came was drunk and she caused my son to fall off the stairs. I caution other people when they hire these people to be careful. </p>

It was okay. I think their sales people are little bit too high pressure. They contract you for 3 years, and I think that is excessive.

06/26/2015 - I guess I gave my "A" review a little too quick because after the exchange of payment and my install, everything went downhill and turned into a COMPLETE DISASTER. The installer that they sent me showed up to install my system with his young daughter in tow. I had no idea i was becoming a daycare and had to kennel my dog and reevaluate my day since the installer and daughter were in and out of my home for hour hours. <br /> <br /> During the install, the installer went thru the process but never once asked me where to mount hardware, drill holes or run wires. After the install i had ADT boxes mounted OUTSIDE my telco closet and directly into my wall. Needless to say I had to re-mount everything and fill all the holes and repaint the areas damaged. <br /> <br /> I had a remote garage door solution installed as well and that is even more disappointing. The installer mounted a HUGE back box right by the door and ran an wiring up and around my ceiling and down to an outlet. Not only did he not ask me where to place this box, he also left EXPOSED COPPER WIRING at the terminating point of my outlet. I had to have this fire hazard of a mess corrected as well. <br /> <br /> Now on to the front door camera that I had installed. This time the installer walked me thru the process and asked where to install the camera. We discussed where he would run the wires and I thought, we would be good. One morning I noticed birds going in and out of the space between my gutters and my garage and I noticed that when the installer ran the wires for the camera, he removed the chicken wire that covers the garage venting area and never put it back. Because of this, I know have a birds nest in between my garage and the ceiling. Unreal. Also, where he ran the wires, it looks like is used a screwdriver to punch holes in the ceiling to get them from the inside out. <br /> <br /> Now on to my keyless entry system I had installed on my front door. What a cluster. After the incorrect parts being ordered and not in stock for a week and the installer having to read the installation guide to get the install done for two hours, everything was up and running. When the installer reviewed everything with me he told me that the install was 'tough' and that if the door starts to not shut, that I will have to bend the lock plate back into place. Are you kidding me? So I have an installer installing the main protection piece of my home and he tells me that basically nothing fit and he had to rig the setup and if my door starts to not shut, I have to rig it as well. Unbelieveable. Disgusted, I was just glad he left. Upon further examination, I noticed that he chipped the pain all around the door lock hinge area. About 10 days after the install, I contacted Michael who is one of the owners of Homestar Security. Michael provided me instructions on how to troubleshoot my lock to determine if it was defective or just the way things were setup. I followed his directions and it was determined that the lock itself was defective since it burns thru batteries in just under 6 days. Michael and I have been trying to connect to find a time to get an installer out to my home to replace the defective piece. <br /> <br /> The last straw that prompted me to revise my review from an 'A' to a COMPLETE FAIL came earlier this week when both my alarm keypads started making a 'hissing' sound around 1:00am in the morning. This loud hissing sound woke up the entire family and I immediately messaged Michael thru Angie's List and stated I needed help ASAP that this hissing was keep everyone awake. I asked him to contact me the next morning ASAP so we could get this fixed. Needless to say, I have not heard a thing. Not a message on Angies List or a phone call. Communication just stopped. To be fair to Michael, he has always been very responsive to all concerns until this issue. I always believe you can judge a vendor by how they resolve a problem, as everyone will experience an issue or two. For me, this entire experience has been a disaster. I trusted Angie's List and the reviews I read and now I question those as well. I trusted Homestar and literally received nothing better than if I would have hired someone from outside of Home Depot to do this task. When I hire a professional I never expect to have my home damaged or have exposed wires left unattended by an installer. Needless to say, complete fail. <br /> <br /> I have photographs of the works that was done that show everything listed above. Before making a choice from a home security system, do your due diligence and call references or you will end up like me, disgusted. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> I negotiated the pricing and initial details with Michael who is the owner of Homestar. Michael was clear and concise about what to expect and the charges I should be aware of when transitioning to ADT. <br /> We had a few issues during installation but nothing that was really out of the ordinary. Overall, Michael and the Homestar team did a fantastic job and I would use them again.

We were considering installing a new security system for our home. After talking with our daughter, she recommended that we contact Homestar Security. She and her husband had a system installed by them and were very happy with their system and the fact that they were a local ADT authorized dealer. Michael came to our home to discuss with my husband and I the possibility of putting in a new security system. We were never under pressure to buy.  Michael's information and advise enabled us to know what system worked best for our home. Technician Brent installed our system a couple days latter. Brent's installation was a very clean, professional job. He was also very informative about how our system worked. . Michael followed up with us to ensure that we were taken care of and all our questions were answered. Whether we talked with Michael, dealer owner, Brent, technician  or Trish, customer service, we found them to be friendly,informative and professional. There are some chips in the plaster where it was installed but I can live with it. Overall everything went fine and it is working fine.

The technician was prompt and professional and explained the system in a manner that was both informative and technical without talking over my head nor down to me.  The expense of this house call was covered by ADT.

They had two technicians who came out. They were nice and did a great job. They were also knowledgeable too. They also had a reasonable price than what other companies were offering for that service.

They were  great and their customer service was awesome. We used them 5 years ago when we bought out house. They were really trustworthy, professional, they showed up on time. They also cleaned up after themselves.

I have had the system for a couple of years. It works and everything is still functional. They installed the system for me and they were prompt. It didn’t take them very long to install the system either.

I was very happy with the service and customer support of Homestar. Robin was very helpful in setting up the appointment and explaining the options available. Unfortunately, I don't remember our installer's name. He was very helpful , discussed his planned installation and gave me a complete rundown on the operation of the new system. I was very satisfied with all phases of the project, and will definite recommend Homestar to any of my friends looking to install home security

A salesperson knocked on our door and offered up a big promotional deal if we set up an appointment with them.  I made an appointment with them as I had been thinking about installing a security system for awhile. <br /> The agent arrived promptly at the appointment and took a full two hours to go through all the details.  I had tried to get him to go straight to the price but it turned out that it was important to hear most of the sales pitch - all the details on the system and the different options. <br /> We signed the contract that day so that we could receive all the deals. <br /> The installation went very well.  The technician arrived on time.  We got the new touchsceen system so it is very user friendly.  I was not present at the installation, my husband was and he was shown how to use it.   But I was still able to go through the system and use it without any difficulty.  <br /> Overall, I'm pleased with how well it went.  I did grade them a "B" for overall as the price was a bit more than expected but I am very happy with the process and feel secure with how well the system was set up. <br />

Everything went well and they really tried to integrate my existing security system into their new wireless system. It was great dealing with a company that holds on to traditional values. <br />

Overall appointment went good. Eric was our rep and he initially didn't read our queues as we wanted to see the details rather than have a conversation trying to get to "know" each other. Once he figured it out, he got to the point and walked around the house to recommend what we needed. We spend a good amount of time going through the details on the hardware and the contract. I had several questions on the agreement as well as the technology behind the service and if Eric did not know the answer, he was quick to call his bosses to find out. He did attempt to be pushy and say it was a one time offer and if he leaves, he will never come back and started to pressure us which we quickly challenged him on. He almost lost the deal when became so pushy. Once we got past that, we got to the numbers and got things locked down. Some feedback would be on his professionalism. On several occasions he cursed, while we were not offended, should probably not be done on a sales visit. The overall experience was ok and we are glad that we did it but we were on the fence several times and with some coaching, HomeStar could improve the overall experience even more.  <br />

Overall was a very good experience. There are a lot of resellers out there for ADT systems and it can be pretty confusing. I called a few of them but these folks were very nice, came out to the house and laid out a bunch of different options for us to look at to protect our home. <br /> Installation went very well and was very professional. <br />

It all has gone very well, I occasionally forget to shut the alarm off before I open a door, but I can quickly shut it off. It's just another habit that you need to get into. Having the system installed gives me the peace of mind that it would be more difficult for an intruder to get in. <br />
