I had 24 windows replaced by them. The owner is friendly and pleasant to deal with. I had about 20 issues with the job, ranging from minor annoyances to major problems. The owner agreed that all of them were valid. The major problems included things like the installer not showing up, them ordering the wrong products, and taking 7 weeks to do the job that was scheduled to be complete in 2 days. On a 5 star rating system I would rate them as: Value-4, Communication-2, Quality-3, Execution-2. If you are not a discerning individual and have plenty of time on your hands, you would probably be fine with them

Home Depot wanted to charge $2500 so I saved there. Windows were beautiful and expertly installed by a professional installer. Installer was also very friendly to talk to.

The HomeStar employee who came to install the kitchen/basement windows damaged the soffit (she didn't know how to lift the window to avoid doing damage to the soffit) that had just been installed earlier in the day. We were lucky that the soffit and gutter company was able to take out the damaged soffit and replace it without to much noticeable damage. The screen for the kitchen window was also the wrong size. HomeStar ordered another screen and the second screen came and was also the same wrong size. They then ordered a third screen and just this week (almost three months later) I called them to ask about the screen and they informed me it had come in and was the right size but the frame was bent. So, they are now ordering a 4th screen. It is hard to believe that it will take more than 4 month after getting the window installed to get a screen for the window. Also, HomeStar hasn't maintained communication with us regarding the screen . I've had to call them every few weeks to find out the status. Not very concerned about customers once they have paid.

They were very good at keeping in contact regarding when they would be coming to measure the windows and install them. Every person I interacted with was pleasant and willing to work with me. The installers were professional and very quick about getting the new windows in. They cleaned up everything before they left. I will be hiring them again to do the rest of the windows in my house.

Prompt response for request for bid, bid was very competitive. Work was done before the initially indicated date in a professional manner. A few minor problems very promptly addressed.

Windows were removed and replaced in one day. The metal wrapping of the exterior trim was expertly done in two days after the installation. A single missing screen was sent out from Milgard promptly.

Work was performed quickly at a great price. There was a mistake somewhere with the order where the windows sent by Milguard didn't contain argon as we had ordered. Homestar was great to work with to get this problem corrected free of charge. This was almost 4 years ago and we have loved our windows. As I've worked with other contractors as we have remodeled our house, I have realized how great Homestar was to work with, and how well and efficiently they were able to do the job

HomeStar was friendly, professional, and followed through on every promise they made. The installation was painless and we are very pleased with the finished product. I was worried vinyl windows would look "cheap" but they look great with the home, are so nice to use, and have made a noticeable difference blocking noise from our busy street.

It was a big project, so there were some challenges and stressful moments, but we worked with David Orgill closely all along the way. He made it an excellent experience. We are pleased with how the project went and would recommend Homestar to anyone.

The short story is it went very well and we would hire Homestar again. Quality product, quality install, fair price and excellent communications. The longer story follows: Our home is a mid 1950s brick rambler with no wood in the exterior wall. It is just a deep red brick structure - the outside red brick is the wall. Many homes like this have an interior cinder block support wall, but our house does not. NOTHING is square. Additionally, the window sill or bottom consisted of tile laid on top of poured concrete -yes, there is concrete in our walls. A very peculiar construction. Also, in our 2 corners, we have nothing but a 2x2 inch bar. One pair of corner windows had an interior storm window put on the inside of the house; the other corner pair of windows had a storm window installed on the exterior of the house. Both storm windows appeared to be installed quite a while ago and had multiple layers of caulking and/or paint applied over the years. A previous contractor, over 10 years ago, struggled with all these challenges. Homestar hit it out of the park. Chris was our sales guy and did the measurements. Chris is the ultimate communicator and proactively kept me up to date. He's very experienced as he was also an installer. He listened closely to my concerns about this house. His measurements were perfect. The two installers, who's names I can't recall, were just as great as Chris. They were on time and methodical. The removal was quick and did no damage whatsoever (please recall the house's unusual construction). The new windows fit perfect. The corner 2x2 inch metal post was covered perfectly inside and out. The windows were thoroughly cleaned. The case and jamb was going to be difficult as I knew nothing in this house was square. In fact, the floor to ceiling measurement in one end of this house differs from the other end by about 4 inches. Given all that, the cutting and installation of the case and jamb was perfect. We had two small issues which were corrected in a timely manner and cost us nothing. The 5th window was for our garage and the Milgard factory mistakenly forgot to glaze it. One screen had a problem - the Milgard warranty process kicked in and this too was corrected. On a final note, I would highly recommend visiting Homestar's showroom. We changed our minds from double hung windows, to casement (like the original 1950's aluminim windows were) to finally sliders. We were very concerned that sliders were not a safe window, but a visit to the showroom allowed us to view a very nice feature which addressed our concerns.

Dave Orgill, the owner came out and gave us a bid. Absolutely love the new windows and the way they compliment the era of the home. There were no surprises. I liked that they had a showroom where I could actually see the way the windows would look and operate. They had several different brands of windows. They installed 10 windows of different sizes and configurations for a very competitive price. I would use this company again in a heartbeat There were no pressure tactics- just a very smart and professional approach. It took 6 weeks to get the Windows but that was because I insisted on Milgard Windows which I had used before in other homes. They had informed me that there would be a manufacturer delay before I ordered. They were very good about coordinating and communicating which was essential because we were out of town at the time of the installation.
I would recommend Homestar as an installer. Milgard, the window manufacturer, not so much. Quality of the Tuscany vinyl windows was disappointing ( 1 inch hole in one screen, 2 screens that were too small, manufacturing labels left on all the windows that peeled off to expose unpainted white vinyl, wrong counterweights on two windows that would not stay open). Milgard customer service was even worse. Multiple calls and emails were unanswered or ignored. The only way to get help from Milgard was through the intervention from Dave, owner at Homestar. It took almost 3 months for the issues to be resolved. I was told that Milgard is normally outstanding, but that we were the victims of high demand, a factory switchover, and a shortage of workers. Probably true because it would be hard for Milgard to stay in business if they treated many customers like this.

Dave Orgill, the owner of Homestar, handled everything for us. He met with us to give us an estimate. He was the first provider we spoke with for a quote. After meeting with 3 other providers, we sat down with Dave again. We felt the most comfortable with Homestar. My husband asked many questions and Homestar's answers were direct and accurate. We didn't feel like we were just getting a sales pitch. He knew what he was talking about. Once we signed with Homestar, we received a packet of information that included step by step information for what would happen next. Everything went as planned. The window removal and installation took two days. The stucco work took longer; weather was an issue and stucco is just a longer process. Everything was complete within two weeks. We love our windows! We can definitely tell a difference in sound and heat transfer. Homestar went above and beyond with their caulking, so we are looking forward to a Utah winter without drafty windows this year! Homestar's professionalism and price got them our business. The quality of their work and their continuous communication throughout the process has made us very happy customers. Whenever our friends need windows, we are sending them to Homestar!

It took 3 different attempts to get the template made for one 1/2 circle. After 2 weeks of the install date, the trim still was not in; the ball was dropped by many but the sales person took responsibility. The trim finally was found and installed the first week of September; now one of the windows does not open properly and I am still awaiting a return call on this.

The installation only took a couple of hours and they cleaned up everything after they left. We received the best deal and shopped around a lot before finding them. The parts and the labor had a lifetime warranty (as long as we are there) and they were quick and professional. The sales guy came over at the beginning of the process and was a delight. The installers also worked around my dogs (who hate people). All in all, a great experience.
This was truly the best home improvement experience I have had. Every person I dealt with, especially Cory and his installation team, were just wonderful. Except for the fabulous new windows they left behind, you would not have known anything even happened here the minute they left. They were careful, cordial and cleaned up after themselves as they went. They put down drop cloths every where, protecting my carpets and vacuumed anything left. The window sills were clean, everything back in place and all in about three hours.
