Our experience has been a nightmare. We have been trying to get things finished for over 2 years!
They didn't use the cleaner during pressure washing until I caught them using just water. I was told the contract is just "boiler plate" and they don't do everything on the contract.
They did a lousy job of prepping the surface and had bare wood in places. I mentioned this several time and it was never fixed.
They showed up with the wrong paint colors. 5 gallons of trim and 1 gallon of main color. If I hadn't of caught them they would have painted the house the opposite colors we wanted.
They put enamel paint over oil based on the stairs so it peeled within a week.
They broke a glass float we had hanging in the yard and just threw it in the bushes.
The house is bubbling all over and we have been told for over a year and a half that we are on the list.
Chris (the owner) has sent a guy over once, who spent a few hours re-scrapping /priming and painting areas, but he missed over 80% of the bubbles, put one coat on so the primer is showing through and it has taken so long for them to "fix" the issues that our house is now several different shades of green due to weathering. It has been a year since they have sent someone out and we are still waiting for them to finish the job they started.
We are being forced to take legal action against this company.
I have pictures to back up what I am saying and will share with anyone who wants them.
Find another company.
Response from Homestead Exteriors Inc.
"As an owner i wanted to grow my business, so i hired someone that had an excellent recommendation for this individual. He had done the quote on this home of which the owners had gotten another bid from a painter they use all the time and he wanted 15,000.00 clearly for the size of home that was a huge amount of money on there income level and i sympathized with them and told my sales man not to gouge them but put it in writing exactly there expectations and give them a competitive price. So in working out the details my sales guy ran this job and didn't do his job in follow through with making sure everything was done properly and to the customers satisfaction. I was contacted after the job was done and they signed off on it they paid us. The owners contacted me about 9 month later with some problem areas and i sent guys back to take care of the areas they posted pictures of on there complaint. I went back and spent 60 hours of fixing everything. I also explained that the bubbling paint areas is typical for the old paint to bubble off the substrate or siding because of all the years of expansion and contraction the paint will look perfect and then with the addition to putting new paint on it can make old smooth areas on the siding bubble which is not a failure of prep work, just simply an unforeseen issue that happens on older homes. As far as windows and caulking : Old homes need constant maintenance, especially window trim because of all the movement in the seasons of expansion in winter and shrinkage in the summer caulking points need to be checked yearly. On any bubbles on the home if you cut them you can crape that bubble off and look on the back of it . you don't see the new paint color you see the old paint color which means it isn't the paint or our lack of prep it was failure of an unforeseen nature that just requires an adjustment on the bid price to fix . You have to strip those boards as needed because even if you scrape them off and then fill and sand it smooth another bubble will appear on the same piece of siding in a different location. I really had bent over backwards in fixing this homes problems and i feel terrible that they were unhappy with my company in the first place which was why never again will I trust anyone with my customers other than myself. Also i would like to point out that this job was done before i became a Angies list business advertiser, they have joined just to seek me out to put a bad reference on here to ruin my ratings. I take my business personal and do the best job possible for a great price and above all i would rather go broke to make a customer happy than have them unhappy."

We called Chris for an estimate to paint our kitchen which is very open to the rest of our living area. He was prompt, courteous and professional and slipped us into the schedule in a very timely manner. The color we had chosen was very dark compared to the the next room and the corners on the plaster are rounded, a tricky task to get straight lines, which was extremely important to us. They painted the ceiling the light color to match the family room then painted all the walls the darker color. There are numerous cabinets and a very large window and a door in the kitchen that are painted a cream color and the painter, Tony, did an excellent job of getting around all of this with clean lines. He was very tidy and polite, which is a plus when someone is in your home for a couple of days. All of the lines and seams are very straight and sharp and we love the way our kitchen looks. We are going to have them come back and do some more painting soon. There was one small area near the ceiling that needed a small touch up, it was a difficult place to see in most light is probably why it went unnoticed until later in the day. Tony was busy that day so another fellow came and he was as friendly and polite as Chris and his other people.I would highly recommend this company for any painting needs and I understand they do other repairs and refurbishing also.

I worked with painter Sean primarily, but found Chris to be very professional. Sean was excellent. Very personable, but not invasive in the house. He interacted with our pets which is very important to us. He was also a perfectionist so the quality of his work is outstanding. He was very careful with our new wood floors and always cleaned up after himself. Quality, quality work!

From the very beginning stages of calling for estimates to the final walk through, Chris and his team were very customer focused and really aimed to please. Chris came out for an estimate in a few days after the call and provided the estimate electronically a few days after the home visit. We were having some trees removed and they were very accommodating about scheduling and timing the pressure wash and actual prep. They were able to tell us what days they would be at the house and when they would be finished with every stage. This was very impressive given the fact that they worked around our schedule and the weather was a factor. The crew worked efficiently and were very neat. No mess at the end of the day. I watched them do two walk throughs one day to make sure they picked up every little thing. We were very impressed with the quality of work, the timing of the project and the exact nature of the estimate. A final walk through revealed one area of trim that was not painted and the crew fixed it on the spot. Several neighbors commented on how nice the house looks and how quickly the team was able to complete the work. I would really recommend Homestead for a great job done by really nice people.

Delayed one day due to weather. They were willing to finish up on Saturday but I said Monday would be fine. Job looks good, workers were neat (no spills, etc.).

Homestead Exterior was hired from three bids and the comments from Angie's List. Chris lived up to every expectation. Even the neighbors have commented on the excellent job and overall improvement to the house. Chris recommended a new paint scheme and not only had our custom colors mixed and painted on the house-was kind and understanding when we eventually went with different colors all together. Our only negative mark is for punctuality and truly is was no fault of Chris'. Rain prevented them from starting on the date agreed to and once he had reassigned his crews they had to finish the job that was started. The one caulking flaw was promptly corrected and Chris made some unplanned repairs at no cost. I strongly recommend Homestead Exteriors.
