Hopkins Construction began the first say about 9:30 AM, which turned out to be the earliest they would make the job site throughout the project. DAY 1- they began demolition and tore our baseboards, took out the old vanity, toilet, flooring, etc. DAY 2- Only a worker arrived about 10:30 AM and stated that Jacob Hopkins would not be coming, as he was "working on paperwork." He spent several hours just standing around on the phone. Mr. Hopkins finally arrived, and that day's work consisted of getting the old bathtub out, a hour and a half lunch run, then a "drink run" for about 45 minutes. They left shortly after that for the day. DAY 3, Arrived around 11AM, and attempted to bring the new one-piece bathtub in that would not fit into the house. Hopkins attempted to force it in the house, scratching my flooring, the walls, and 70 year old touch and groove moldings. They finally decided they could not get it in, and I said to just find a two piece that fit. I purchased the new tub for a total of $696, and drove an hour one- way to pick the tub up, after Mr. Hopkins said he was missing his child's birthday, and I told him to go be with his child. DAY 4: I asked for them to be at my home and started by 7 AM, Mr. Hopkins sent a worker that arrived around 10 AM. After about 30 minutes, he opened the new tub to discover that it and the wall surround was busted. I called and found a new one and asked the worker to go to Savannah, TN to pick up a new one. I sent him with my personal debit card, as I had to work and could not waste another day. He arrived at the Lowe's location and called saying that the retail associate needed to talk to me. We went through several hours of miscommunication, with Mr. Hopkins complaining that I sent his worker to pick up the tub. Mr. Hopkins showed up to my location about 4 pm, with his worker and the tub showing up about 30 minutes later. Mr. Hopkins told me that the miscommunication was his worker's fault and that he was going to fire them and there would be no more problems. Hopkins Construction stayed at my home until 10 pm, got a toilet working, sat the vanity in the bathroom (not working) and put the tub in (also not working). Around 10 pm, I heard them leave the driveway and Mr. Hopkins sent a text saying that he "just could not" finish and would be back on Monday. DAY 5: I was in Las Vegas for work, Mr. Hopkins was supposed to finish the job by 5 pm. I called and he told me everything was finished except one bracket that had broken. I asked could he get the bracket, and he said he wasn't sure. My wife told him to leave and just fix it on the next day. I called my wife and she told me that the bracket was the least of our worries. The floor was still very un-even. the vanity sink didn't work, and none of the shelving or molding had been completed. I talked with Mr. Hopkins on the phone and explained that I no longer wanted him on my project, and that I was considering legal options. He wanted to know how to "not go to court." I explained that I would like the money back that I had already paid and that we could part ways. He replied in a text and said he could have me the money by 5pm CST on Friday. FRIDAY: I called him from the plane about 7:30 pm as my wife said she had not heard from him. He said he did not have the money, that he has spent it all on materials. I advised him that there were not $2,000 worth of materials there that I hadn't paid for... TO DATE: We only have a toilet in my house, the floor is dangerous, and there are nails from missing trip and baseboards. The shower is installed, but doesn't work, the bathroom roof vent was removed and not replaced, causing water to pour in through the bathroom ceiling, and the bathroom vanity does not work. Our home is cluttered and crowded due to the bathroom items that have had to be moved around the area for remodeling that hasn't been completed, or is done completely wrong.
