I get that weather can push appointments but these guys are poor with communication. Got my driveway sealed but the next day found that cracks were still visible. Multiple texts back and forth telling me that they would come and fix it but they never came. The horrible communication and empty promises did it. I stopped reaching out. Use them at your own risk.

The only part of this that went nicely was the estimate-the person explained everything, was friendly, and made us feel comfortable. We went with them mainly because 6 years earlier they had done a nice job on several other driveways in our neighborhood. We had some cracks and two sections that needed replaced. The work was not all completed in one day as originally planned because they ran out of asphalt. The new section had a different texture to it than the first section they applied. Immediately we pointed out that tamping was not straight along edges where it should have been, the width of the long section of driveway was not even (18 inches narrower at one point than the rest), and that certain spots looked very grainy and not smooth. The tamping and width were adjusted and some of the grainy areas were patched and sanded. We stayed off it for longer than advised; however, within 2 weeks one section of a driveway that was entirely replaced, started developing sunken areas where a parked car's wheels were, and some gravel was pulling out on car wheels in other areas. They patched the sunken spots and advised sealing the whole driveway before the winter (another $1800) and said that would help with the loose gravel. It did not, 10 months later, sections of asphalt have loose gravel coming out and were so soft that I could press into them with my bare hands and move them. Large cracks also developed, and weeds were growing out of several areas. The sunken holes on the one driveway were still unacceptable and two other companies came out to assess and said complete replacement was needed. Before the one-year guarantee was up, we discussed the issues with them and they sent someone out to assess. He told us that the asphalt was supposed to be flexible to stop cracking and that the cracks along the edges were our fault for vehicles supposedly driving too close to the edge though we didn't recall driving anywhere but down the middle. That said, he agreed to fill in the cracks and reseal the area that was experiencing the worst crumbling (loose pieces of asphalt coming up), and to send out a manager to assess the area we wanted replaced. He came back to seal the bad area, but never filled the cracks and a manager never came out. So a year later, we are left with a "new" driveway that has cracks, crumbling, sunken spots, and weeds growing out of it, after spending over $12,000 and going through tons of stress trying to work out the issues. Communication was poor throughout, with people not returning messages, or missing scheduled appointments, and falling through on what they said would be done. We saved up for years to afford this repair to our driveway, yet other than the color, it doesn't look any better and is a lot less smooth. This was a very stressful process, and a waste of our money and time. We trusted this company and are very disappointed that they didn't fix the issues.
They were on time, respectful of landscaping, and we easy to work with. They completed everything on time and did everything we had hoped to accomplish. I highly recommend them and would not hesitate to use them again in the future. It was a great experience!
I gave them 50% down at the beginning of the job, the other 50% was to be paid at completion of the job. When they arrived to finish the work they informed me that it was going to be an additional $1600. I told them that I wasn't going to pay anymore. They marked my driveway up with spray paint. They acted like pay us our additional 1600 dollars or we won't complete this work. They had come out with an estimator previous to this visit and the original price was agreed upon. I felt like they were putting pressure on me hoping I would cave. The whole thing was very unethical. I would not recommend this provider.

On their brochure it says, "We Deliver on Our Promises" I don't find that to be true. A contract is a written agreement, a promise!

Everything went smoothly until a week later when the asphalt started breaking apart. After this occurred I took a picture and emailed it to them and never heard anything back. I called them a week later and they asked me to send it to them again.

It’s a pleasure to write one of the first reviews on Hot Mixx Asphalt Paving, a newcomer to Angie’s List. Although a newcomer to Angie’s list I have been doing business with this company and its predecessor for over 14 years. During this period of time they have installed a driveway as well as a paver walkway for me all with excellent results.
Their first paving job lasted over 14 years, however over the year heavy trucks have taken their toll on the driveway. I decide that it was time to call Mr. Houston again and inquire about the repair and resurfacing of the driveway. Mr. Houston has reorganized, taken on a new partner (Mike Horton) and is now doing business as Hot Mixx Asphalt Paving.
I received a very competitive bid from Mike Horton of Hot Mixx. I signed a contract with Mike on a Friday and he and his 8-man crew were at my premises early on the following Monday morning ready to do the job. I was extremely pleased to learn that many
of the 8-man crew that showed up on Monday morning were members of the crew that installed my driveway in 2000. That said a lot to me about the companies ability to retain quality people in a very competitive business such as asphalt paving.
This latest job involved the removal of a considerable amount of asphalt damaged by the heavy truck traffic and a complete repaving of my 275 ft. driveway. Once again the end results were excellent just like in 2000. This time Mike supervised the job from beginning to end. He was totally responsive to all my requests and when I asked him to come back and make a few cosmetic fixes to the driveway he did so willingly and on an expedited basis. Mike has grown up working for Mr. Houston over the years and has learned the business well. His enthusiasm for his work and his new role as a partner in Hot Mixx are quite evident. He was a pleasure to work with.
I ended up with another great driveway job and am looking forward to getting another 14 years out of this one
Hot Mixx delivered quality work and demonstrated excellent business ethics. It’s hard to find quality companies in the asphalt paving business, however Hot Mixx and Mike Horton are the exception and I highly recommend them if you're looking for a quality driveway paving job.

Hotmixx paving built a new section of driveway that connect to an existing one, they installed the new section and resurfaced the existing pavement. Jim and his crew did a wonderful job, it's finished in one day just like what I was told, I live on a busy street and the traffic can be crazy from time to time, Jim and his crew handled this situation well and the job was well done. They would not have happened without Mike's excellent communication. I actually contacted another company for the job before, It took me too much effort to get a reply from the other company. Mike, on the other hand, always answer his phone or get back to me quickly if he could not pick up my call at the time, I never had to wait more than 30 minutes. Mike is very professional and knowledgeable, he answered all my questions in a timely manner. I'd recommend Hoxmixx and Mike's service to everyone who want a new driveway and want a pleasant experience.
