Newcombâs Painting and Handyman Services In April we initiated a service request on Home Advisor for deck repair and sealing services. On April 28 we contracted with Newcombes painting and handyman services to replace several boards on our deck and to power wash and seal the deck. Sam initially did a great job with replacing boards and power washing the deck as well as replacing one outdoor water spigot and an electrical receptacle. Unfortunately, the weather prevented him from sealing the deck initially. We made the mistake of paying the complete amount for the job even though it had not been completed. It is now December 16 and the sealing of the deck has not been done despite countless promises from Sam that he was going to get to it. I have called or texted every week since the middle of summer to no avail. It is now obviously too late to seal the deck and I have requested a refund of $350 for services not performed. The same pattern is repeating where Sam promises to refund the money but says he does not have it yet. We have always used Home Advisor in the past when we had need of a service professional and have been well satisfied with the quality of the work. I know that Sam Newcomb is no longer a part of the Home Advisor network. I would appreciate any advice to get my money back

Sam never came by to check the work performed by his crew-his stepmom and her son; they showed up late, never called to say they were going to be late; he told me that he hired her as a favor but she does great work. My mistake was repainting the room the same color. The painter did not paint all of the walls, then had to return a different day to complete the job and was late the second day, even a few months later, I can see where they did not paint over some areas as a black circle placed by the inspector from the damage on the wall is bleeding through the yellow paint. A casual glance at the wall and you can not see it, but it is there. I have hardwood floors in the bedroom the crew painted and the ceiling is pretty high on one end; did not ask for a ladder (I would have provided one if they did not have one) you could see the distinct break in the paint after it dried overnight; and upon returning the next day to finish, still did not ask for a ladder and the painter was my height 5 attempting to reach a wall at a height of 17, with a short extension handle. There were drops of paint on my floor that you would not see again with a casual walk-through because you are not expecting that. I am leaving out some of the other issues I saw with the painting. One of the employees broke the handle on my external hose reel and did not tell me about it; I found it two weeks later because I had to use my hose and the yellow paint stain on the handle revealed who did it. Sam said he would come by to fix it. He said he was a skilled handyman and could do so and in his opinion, it was cheaper to just repair, which I was all for because replacement parts were not available because I checked that first before I called him. However, he never called back because he was too busy. This was the worst experience ever. if I am spending my money, I expect better, I think I have said enough. This is the first time I have had a chance to write this review. I won't be using his services again and I would not recommend him either.

Buyer be aware, contractor lacks integrity and failed a complete work.

Drywall repair was completed at an affordable price. Crew was courteous and professional. Job was not considered complete until I was satisfied.

Working with Sam was great. He went out of his way to make sure we were happy with the work. He painted our entire 4 level townhouse. The wall repairs were amazing. Big job and he and Terrance did excellent work. Definitely will hire him again.

Everything was great! They were flexible with timing, they listened to my needs and their communication throughout the whole process was great. Sam helped me pick the right colors for my space, he made sure to take the railings and other things off the wall so he could paint the walls. He was very respectful and courteous while in the house. His wife was also a sweetheart. I will definitely be using them again for my next home project!
