Beware: Private Equity Owned Brand Stretched Thin We want to hold Valentine as a company to the high standard it advertises, as we did not get the quality of workmanship for which we paid. What we witnessed/recorded from the time the work was scheduled through its completion was a company scaling beyond its means through deceptive bidding and sloppy labor. This is an all-too-common story as small, privately-owned companies are acquired by/folded into larger holdings (e.g., conglomerates, private equity firms) and are then squeezed to scale and increase margins by their new ownership.
