Super quick turnaround. Responded to my request quickly and gave us a quote the next day. Price way very competitive so we accepted for a job that would be started and completed the next day. Now my neighbors are asking who to contact for their new driveways! The new driveway makes our house look so nice—if it weren’t for the architecture, you’d think it was brand new construction.

Taloa Construction was awesome! They repaved a walkway in front of our house in no time. They gave us a really competitive price compared to other bids -- and were very timely in getting the work done. We would absolutely hire them again!

Job started quickly and workers were pleasant. Some dry rot was identified and repaired. Unfortunately, the wrong color was applied and also concrete was poured/blocked foundation vent well as well as sewer clean outs(appears these areas were not formed out to protect against intrusion of poured concrete). Additional work to add concrete pads and posts in crawl space appears questionable. Attempts to fix/repair the over pours (sledgehammer involved) resulted in a crack the entire 14' of the project. Tools and project spoils/dirt/rock remain on site months later.

Very motivated the first couple of days. Then they started asking for more cash. Neighbors called to complain about them urinating in their back yard. I observed the workers stuffing rocks inside the void spaces of the cinder blocks that were supposed to be poured with concrete, comprising stability but saving them time, material, and money. Not cool. Mike, the owner, will be aggressive to get his money well before the job is done. Beware of that. He will try to sub out to his lower level workers once you’ve paid a large portion. Ultimately, this was a nightmare and the job never got completed. Poor quality. My wife and I are reasonable people and do not wish ill will onto anyone. But, we DO NOT recommend iate Life Concrete for any service.

Mike is a nice guy. The weather stalled us out for a week or so. The reason for the low rating is because the entire set of stairs and sidewalk are completely cracked. The first large crack appeared about 2 weeks after the job was complete and there is a new crack every week. I reached out to Mike several times to come take a look and fix what was happening. Responses were limited but Mike said he would come by; never did. Now I've paid $6000 for new steps and walk way and they need to be replaced again.

We hired them to pour a concrete driveway. It only took 3 days after the the driveway was set for cracks to start showing. I contacted Mike, the owner, about the cracks and he said that he would be out to take a look. Instead, he sent two other guys who poured sealant into the cracks. They didn't have us move our cars when they did this, and when we asked what we should do about the cracks under our vehicles. They said it would fine if we drove our vehicles over the sealant that they just poured. We told them that this would not work and would like to speak with Mike. We made multiple attempts to call and text. I let Mike know that we chose based on his reviews on Angie's List and would appreciate his prompt attention to this matter. He let me know that he would send out two guys to seal it and that they would be out on Wednesday or Thursday. They showed up on Friday to do the sealing. We tried to call and text Mike about it, but have not heard anything back. Our last attempt was on 8/26 and we still haven't heard anything. Our driveway is still cracking even after the sealant and we have a two year warranty.

THE PREPARATION WAS NOT TO THE SPECIFICATIONS OF THE CONTRACT. THE GRAVEL BED WAS NOT LAID AND COMPACTED,, AND THE REBAR WAS LAID ON THE GROUND AND NOT INSTALLED TO INDUSTRY STANDARDS. THE POUR WENT BADLY AND THE SURFACE FINISH WAS DEFECTIVE. WE CALLED MIKE OUT TO SEE THE FINISHED PRODUCT AND HE AGREED IT WAS NOT TO CONTRACTUAL STANDARDS. HE AGREED THE DRIVEWAY SHOULD BE REDONE AT HIS EXPENSE. . ON JUNE 17, 2017 THE DRIVEWAY WAS REMOVED. ON 8/2/2017 GRAVEL WAS POURED AND REBAR LAID. WE WERE TOLD THAT ON 8/26/2017 THE DRIVEWAY WOULD BE POURED. AS OF THIS DATE THERE IS ONLY GRAVEL AND REBAR. TWO MONTHS LATER AND WE STILL HAVE NO DRIVEWAY. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY.

I was looking for a company that could do a combination of concrete and pavers to replace our driveway, the walkway to the house and small portion of a walkway next to the garage. I hired iate Life Concrete largely based on the recommendations and reviews in Angie's List. The recommendations seemed good and the pictures of the projects on their company web site looked good. The company owners showed up promptly to give me an estimate. It was a bit high, but they promised to get the work finished in two and a half weeks. This was important as the work would prevent us from having vehicle access to the property and garage. They showed up promptly to remove the existing concrete and within a reasonable time, did the main pour of the concrete for the driveway and the walkway to the house. However, when my wife and I compared notes, the two partners had approached us separately for extra money, essentially getting paid ahead on the project. To each of us, they claimed they needed extra money to pay for the concrete. - Once iate Life Concrete got paid ahead on the project, they stopped showing up. On at least four occasions, we set up specific appointments where they promised to finish the job--but they never showed up. They stopped answering or returning calls. Leaving a large, unfinished gap in the driveway means that we haven't had access to our garage for over a month. This is not only a convenience issue, but has been an issue for other companies doing work on the house. For example, a roofing company that replaced the roof had to hand carry all the roofing materials across the lawn rather than just back their trucks up to the house. - Quality of work seems standard to sub-standard. The main pour of concrete for the driveway does not seem to have structural problems. However, they didn't match the height of the driveway concrete to the garage door. So after the pour and the concrete set up, the garage door wouldn't close properly. I had to remove material from the bottom of the door to get it to work correctly. Also, they poured concrete up to, and touching the wood siding on the house. Now I will need to cut off part of our siding to create a gap to avoid rot. - I paid extra to have the concrete tinted to better match the strip of pavers that was to join the concrete driveway to the street. They said they would add tinting powder to the concrete before it was poured so the color would be completely through the concrete. The concrete was poured raw with no tint. - Although this is less important--but speaks to the company, I had to clean up personal trash left by workers (cigarette packs, water bottles) and nails left in the grass and near the work site. Other contractors left the premises in as good or better condition than they found it. These guys left trash and construction debris for us to pick up. - Before iate Life Concrete stopped returning calls, we heard multiple excuses. "There's a concrete strike" (even though the main concrete had already been poured. "My paver guy is unreliable." Even though the project sat for weeks while they worked on other projects. The only thing we haven't heard is "My dog ate my homework." In short, except for very simple projects, the quality of their work may be an issue and they may depart without finishing the project.
Response from iate Life Concrete
"Thank you for the valuable feedback, I apologize for the mix up on our part. While we performed the concrete portion of your project to satisfaction, the pavers portion was sub-contracted. This was unfortunately a learning experience for us, and iate Life Concrete is no longer working with the pavers described in this review. We have been working to find a paver that meets our level of expectation, and will continue to provide A rated service for all clients of iate Life Concrete. Moving forward we will only contract paver projects to companies that can work within our schedule to prevent any issues like this with our future clients."

We had previously (1 week prior) had our driveway replaced by a different contractor which was a disaster and needed to be redone. We contacted Mike from Iate Life Concrete to remove the concrete driveway and replace it with a new one. Mike was able to start right away and was very flexible with his schedule to accommodate our needs. Needless to say we were very skeptical of anyone that we talked to since we had such a bad experience just a week prior to meeting Mike. He was quite reassuring and calmed all our fears. The driveway came out perfect and their crew was very professional and knew what they were doing. My only complaint is that we ordered colored concrete and didn't get it. However, Mike did offer us several solutions for the problem so it ended up not being a problem in the end. We are very happy with the result and would hire Iate Life Concrete again.

Mike was called to look at our steps leading up to our house that we just had installed by a different concrete contractor to see if he could "fix" the disaster that Nelson Concrete did in my front yard. Mike came out the next day and gave us options to make the existing poorly constructed new steps we just had done look better but we decided to have Mike tear out the brand new steps and start over. His consultation on how iate Life would do things and the quality product we would get was what we were looking for. Mike made us feel comfortable after getting burned so bad from the bad contractor. Mike even made suggestions on how to make things look even better and a retaining wall made sense in addition to our steps. He worked with us on the budget for the project. He said that they would be out in 2 days to start and they did what they said they were going to do. Mike stopped by several times to monitor the progress of his team and the quality that we were getting. They even went he extra mile and colored and sealed our project without an up charge. Mike will take care of you and he saved our front yard and porch by doing the job right!

Mike was very knowledgeable and friendly and helped us understand all things that we could have done with concrete. He came and inspect the area and even looked at the patio furnishings to help pick out the best color for the concrete he also introduced us to concrete stamping. He was very excited to get started and was always available when I had a question they were on time and very professional I would recommend IATE life concrete for any concrete work that you have and the concrete stamping is well worth it will be adding pictures later when it's all complete.

The bid was competitive and the work was top-notch. From the time we shook hands on the deal until it was completed was only 48 hours. I was very impressed with the quick response to my request for bid and also with the pictures that were sent to me along the way, since I was working and not able to be there. My new driveway looks phenomenal!

Excellent. We picked IATE Life Concrete in part because they were really responsive, and were able to get to the job almost right away. Mike was easy to work with and made good suggestions. In talking to him, we ended up doing a couple of other things --- our idea, though certainly based on his input. We ended up adding another short stretch of concrete pavement to eliminate the last tiny bit of grass to mow in one area, and had them cut an expansion joint in our driveway and water seal that along with the new concrete. Mike also suggested adding drainage behind our shed, which was obvious in retrospect for us, but we hadn't thought of it. Weather was a factor; I think that folks that expect such jobs to go like clockwork will never give a really positive review, but Mike communicated with us well, and the final job was really nice --- broom brushed finish on the concrete, plenty of expansion joints, rebar in the slab and concrete path both. We also liked his crew --- folks were energetic and friendly.
