My job was started months ago, and all throughout the process, Scott has been AWOL. I could not have had worse communication. I naively handed over the final check with Scott's promise that the work would be completed, but alas, it's now been two months and Scott is now evading my calls and refusing to help when he has rarely answered. It now looks like he's gone as far as blocking my number from both his office phone and his cell. My vinyl floors are truly messed up, as they have been from day one. They are bulging up from the floor and sound like they're are about to snap when walked on. Hiring Scott and IRC was the worst mistake I made this year. Do NOT trust this man. Scott, if you bother to read this, please call me so the job can be finished and I can amend this review.

One of the worst "companies"/contractors I have had the displeasure of working with. Unfortunately, I was a terrible judge of character and let Scott McCloud/IRC do work in my condo. I am currently in the process of dealing with the BBB and pursuing small claims court. The matter comes down to extremely poor workmanship, breach of contract, and theft (took my money, did not finish work). ***Pictures and contract are available to anyone who would like to do their due diligence or verify my claim*** Unfortunately, it is hard to tell from the pictures (and without full context) exactly what you are seeing, but the highlights of just one portion of the project (shower) are as follows: Shower drain is loose and not flush, which is a hazard and prevents the water from draining on one side of the shower. Shower door is not square to the surround and neither the left or right door slide on the track properly, and they do not seal or close all the way which leaves my bathroom floor a wet mess at the end of a shower. The shower door is also way too short (standard is 72'', this one is approx 65'') which I am taller than and hit my head on every time I get out of the shower. The shower head was also lowered (standard is about 80", this one is 69") which again, I am taller than and have to hunch over just to get under the water. ^^Those are just the example from the shower, and there are NUMEROUS other issues with workmanship, fit and finish from just about every single thing they touched in regards to the project. (drywall/paint/carpet/flooring/caulking/sanding/installation) The one "pro" I will give them, the faux marble shower tiles look nice and seem to be solidly put together, but, time will tell. ---------------------------------------------- If this review is responded to, you will likely hear the following: "He asked for more than the scope" "I fulfilled my end of the contract" "He asked to save money" "He kept changing things" "He told me he didn't want ABC or XYZ done" "He wanted free work" "I told him I was going to come back to do "free work", but he put in a "lie"of a review, so now I am not going to" "I was trying to be a nice guy and help him out" The list of excuses will be long, and inaccurate...again, because I have the contract, pictures, and texts to back up what I am saying. Do you? Folks, this was an insurance claim job ($12K), it was not coming out of my pocket. I just wanted to get back to "pre-loss condition". And, I can assure you that all I was looking for was the job to be done on-time, on budget, and correctly/professionally....Unfortunately, I received none of those. IRC (Scott McCloud or his worker) have not been back to my home in over a month, and they still have a set of my house keys, which I asked for back approx. 3 days + ago in my 3rd response to the BBB complaint, and that he's had for over 3 months). I tried to extend the opportunity for Scott and IRC to make this right numerous times (I have the texts to prove it) and nothing has come of it. If you check my profile, I have never left more than a 5 line review praising a company, so this is something I do not just do out of a petty grievance. ---------------------------------------------- Illinois Remodeling Consultants (IRC) LLC is also labeled as NGS (Not Good Standing) as of October 1st, 2022 which according to the State of Illinois website means: "Illinois corporation not in good standing (NGS) refers to a corporation in the state of Illinois that has failed to comply with the state's requirements for reporting and paying fees." ---------------------------------------------- Doors open for them to make it right, as by the time we are finished with our final BBB dispute it will be on to small claims court. ---------------------------------------------- Buyer beware. Take your time, do your research. And most importantly, trust your gut.

Scott and his team are wonderful. After recently being scammed by a contractor that we hired to remodel my parent's home, I had to quickly find someone who is honest and reliable. I called Illinois Remodeling Consultants and explained our situation to Scott and he was quick to help us. He immediately went over to the property and gave us his honest observations. Because my parents were taken advantage of, he made sure that they did not have the same experience. His prices are completely fair and he even helped us with that. He took care of everything. We are so grateful to have Scott on our side. He is the best project manager and makes sure that everything is done. We are having the bathroom and floors remodeled and the back door fixed. Later this year or next year we will work with him to have the kitchen done. The photos that I am attaching are of the unfinished bathroom, but you can tell the high quality of their work. They are awesome.

Great company! Very professional. When my basement flooded they came in and made this stress free for me and handled everything in a timely matter. My basement looks great now and I couldn't be happier. I highly recommend.

Great job all around. Everyone was very helpful and my house looks pretty dang good!

I had a very pleasant experience. They did a great job keeping the work areas clean, which was much appreciated while my nephews and grandson were over. No complaints about the prices either!

Great experience. My house looks so much better now. We were waiting to do this because we weren’t sure we could afford it but their priced were very reasonable so we were able to get it done sooner. Good company and workers.

IRC did an phenomenal job remodeling my master bed and bath. I was so impressed with their process and company values. If you're looking for an honest, reliable, and local contractor, this is it!

They were great from beginning to end. I definitely needed some help with inspiration and Scott stepped up to the plate with some really great ideas. I am very happy with the work they did.

IRC did a great job on my bathroom. The consultant and installers were friendly and on time. The price was extremely affordable. My bathroom looks great! I will definitely hire them again.
