Impressive Flooring

This flooring contractor was hired to replace carpeting on my floor and stairs. The flooring is fantastic however the stairs are a mess. He couldn't find bull nose brazilian cherry treads so he used oak but promised the wood would be stained to match the cherry. I agreed to this. I saw the stairs before they were stained and again was promised the stain would match. (I'm in CA and the house is in MI). You can see the results. I went online and in less than 5 minutes found bullnose brazilian cherry treads. I ordered them and asked him to fix the problem. He agreed to do so for an additional 3k. He also left the old carpet in my garage for me to remove, missed reinstalling baseboards in my closet and left my master bathroom toilet plugged up. I was so disgusted, I hired someone else to resolve the stair problem. I'm giving a 2 because the flooring is fantastic, just don't use this contractor for stairs.

I hired Scott to do my luxury vinyl flooring. In the beginning things went smoothly when negotiating prices and dates. As the date got closer Scott begin to change the price after we had already agreed. He was also very disrespectful with his tone and attitude while requesting an increase. I Once I told him I didn?t appreciate that he apologized and stated he was having a bad day. Once they started in the work everything seemed to go smoothly until I started seeing cuff marks and hand prints and blood my freshly painted ways. This was clearly a conversation that I had with him twice before he started. Then they installed the shoe mold barely. They are not flush to the wall or secure. They did not caulk or hide the nails. I had to hire someone else to come repair his work after spending thousands with him. He also cut his hand on a nail in my garage and never cleaned it up. Also left there mess for me to clean up. I had a very unprofessional, disrespectful, low quality experience.

We recently bought a condo and are floor were in rough shape. Quite a bit of damage from the sun. I submitted something on Angie's list and Scott from Impressive Floor contacted right away. He came out the next day and gave me a quote. His quote was right inline with some others I got. Once we decided to go with Impressive Floors, Scott came out the next day and started our project. Floors were done the next day, sanded, stained, and poly'd. We could not be happier, very well done. Our floor looks beautiful and the color is so nice. We will contact Scott, when we decide to do our upstair floor when the time comes.

Not a good job!. Poor communication with condescending conversations, dumpster/old floor disposal not included in quote (unknown to me until after deposit was given), gaps/holes not filled, floor color not even, sealer not applied in same number of coats or not evenly, pushed fridge over uneven floor color to cover (wouldn't have known if I didn't move it closer to the wall), hall floor left with 3 color differences (told to let it age), pushed off coming back to fix issues 2 weeks at a time causing a 1 week project to take 2 months. I had to buy sealer to attempt fixing multi color hallway floor. Did the best I could but it's still not right (just not glaringly obvious). Stair nose cut on angle to let pantry door open - raw cut and not finished. Had to ask him to replace with stair edging. He said work left for me was work his contractors finished for him on other jobs. I'm not a contractor or DIY person causing high stress levels over 2 months. If you can finish the job, you're ok.

Scott followed up with a phone call right away after seeing the court request, and was a few minutes early for the agreed-upon appointment time. The work done was superb.

Initially very good to communicate and work with. Floors were resurfaced/refinished twice to try and get them correct. 1st time, very ununiform, dark and light spots from staining, heavy sandlng lines that could be seen, a couple areas not fully sanded where old finish could still be seen. 2nd time, redo, dark and light spots much improved be still have areas of dark and light spots. Sanding lines improved but still areas with this issue. The big issue now is chatter lines. There are horizontal waves, 90 degrees to the board direction, that can be seen when you walk into the room. Also very ununiform sanding where hand sanders were used. This issue has been identified by guest that have reviewed the floors, they were not been promped to identify it. I contacted Impressive Flooring, he said "There's no chatter from any of my machines. I get them serviced 3 times a month. Probably bouncy subfloor". I responded "I'm not buying that. I know for a fact that there are double joist under the floor with 3/4 plywood. I also pulled this problem up on the web and it states chatter lines are traditionally caused by some sort of problem with the big machine with several machine causes listed. It did say poor subfloor construction are also common issues. If subfloor is the problem, then why was this issue not present after the first time the floors were resurfaced? I requested a refund so I could get this issue fixed. The comunications have from Impressive Floors have stopped...... I should not have made the final payment till floors were dryed and I could properly review the job.
