I have used this company before and posted a well deserved "A" review of that experience. Had them back this year to remove another large tree and the experience was not quite as stellar. The care given to the surrounding landscape was lacking this time and there was a surprising amount of damage uncovered when I went to inspect closely after they left. I had told the 2 guys who arrived early in the morning where to stack the big chunks of trunk wood, which was behind the tree on a flat spaces of dirt, the same spot they dumped it all last year. Due to problems with the truck, the rest of the crew didn't arrive until 4 hours later. No body's fault on the late start, but I think in their anxiousness to get going, communication from crew 1 didn't get passed onto the climber/chain saw guy. I got my first red flag when I looked out the window and he was halfway done with the big trunk. As he cut the 12-14" sections, he did a big "heave ho" of the chunk forward on the downward side the big hill in front of him (instead of the other way where the ground was flat). I was very surprised to see all these massive trunk rounds fallen and piled on top of our pathway with paver steps. Later I found two massive rounds had rolled for distance all the way down to the bottom of the hill taking out a landscape light, some rocks our retaining wall, and then broke off paver bricks on 4 steps of a full flight of hardscape stairs at the bottom. This is about 75+ feet away from the tree being removed uphill. Unacceptable.

I liked this company from the get go. The estimator was friendly, knowledgable and worked me into his schedule same day. Scheduling was estimated at 2 weeks out, but when I called, they had a window of time (perhaps a cancellation), so I was able to get on their schedule inside of a week. The actual job day went fantastic. Crew arrived on time and was in and out in 90 minutes, leaving a clean yard and little evidence that they were even there. A great experience and I would certainly call them as my first choice in the future.

I absolutely love this company and their employees!! We have called them at least 3 times and if I could afford it, I'd call them again!
We live at the end of a dead end street and there are trees on all 3 sides of our house. They were getting pretty large and our house was starting to feel like a cave. I got permission from the surrounding neighbors to cut some trees .
After my phone call, the estimator was here the same day. I was slightly vague on whether certain trees needed to come down (depended on access) , but he was quite flexible about options.
The crew came the following week (This was back in November 2014) Might have been 5-6 guys, exactly on time, with a giant chipper. They were an absolute joy to watch: very precision work and very careful to avoid having limbs hit fences or structures. They climbed the trees and roped the tops or the limbs so the pieces would drop in the right location. Very respectful of the neighbors' property. I loved watching them in action. You can tell they are all professional loggers. They cut the trunk wood into rounds. Used the chipper for the branches. They were very helpful with last minute decisions about trimming versus eliminating something, and planning ahead for future plantings or cuttings. Jason even went out of his way to talk to one of the neighbors about some trees on their property. They probably cut down 12-15 trees in about 7 hours. Our house and yard are much lighter. Cleanup was outstanding. The bill for that day was around $3000.
Last month, we hired them for removal of some dead trees at the beach. They drove out from Portland and arrived before sunrise!! Same result: precision work with a great group of men who were very helpful and efficient. They dropped trees that were a hazard. Some were left to compost naturally, and some were cut into rounds for future firewood. The bill for that day was around $2000 (included drive time to/ from Portland).
The company has arborist services available as well. We have not yet asked for that help, but I met the arborist (Lorin) and he is quite knowledgeable and helpful.
I don't know what other companies charge. Tree removal is costly, no matter who does it, which is why I gave them a "good" instead of "excellent" on pricing. Based on their name, I suspect that I maybe should have checked "excellent" but I have no way of comparing prices. This is only company I have ever called or would ever use. ve

THESE GUYS WERE GREAT! From the first phone call to the estimate to the day of the service, Loren and his guys did a superb job. Loren is very friendly, honest and easy going. He gave a competitive estimate that was below what other arborists had estimated. He got here on time, got the job done and left everything clean and looking great. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND working with Loren to anyone in need of professional tree service.

On returning home friday evening it was noticed that two of the nine upright arms of a large cedar in our backyard had cracked from the trunk. In calling various friends, one recommended that we contact Lorin Fielding as his company had performed work for them and they were very happy and satisfied with the company and crew. I contacted Lorin on Saturday morning and since he was out of town he asked that we contact his estimator to give us an estimate. Lorin also understood my concern regarding the possibility of this tree continuing to fall and indicated that his estimator was available on Saturday and Sundays. The estimator was at our place within 20 minutes of our phone call. Rod Whitesmith was very friendly, professional and considerate. As Lorin was out of state, Rod requested that we wait until his return on Tuesday which after some hesitation we agreed. Tuesday morning we realized two additional arms of this cedar had fallen right along side our home. At 8am I contacted Mr Whitesmith, by 3pm not only did we have a crew at our place but also Mr Fielding. By 6pm four of the nine arms of the cedar had been removed along with four tall maples that were supporting the original two arms. All limbs and branches were fed into a chipper and rounds were cut into rounds and stacked. The crew returned the next morning to finish the removal of the remaining five arms and trunk of the cedar. They did an amazing job! There was no damage to other plants or to our garden swing. I just can't say enough about the crew, they were just excellant. They even tried to get a slab from the base of the tree for a table top for us and left (at my request) the chips from this beautiful tree to mulch my gardens this fall. There are a number of trees on our property so we hope to have them return in the spring to help in their removal as well.

As a side note:
We are seniors on a fixed income without other resources to assist us with such an expense. I am new to Angies List and did not know to mention being a member but did ask about a senior discount, which was not available. We were able to, however, come up with a payment plan that suits our needs. I would not hestitate to recommend this company to any one!.

Our tree was audibly cracking along the length of the trunk. Our neighbor recommended Stumps Be Gone and they came out that day. We were told to call them when we received the city permit to remove the tree. We called and they came out that day to do the work.
Excellent service. All employees are friendly and did excellent, professional work. The branches were chipped, the trunk was cut into firewood lengths and the area was cleaned up before they left.
The stump removal was done swiftly on a following day and another neighbor came down to have them do some work on his trees also. Wonderful experience.

They were available to come out right away, which is what I was looking for. I called them in the afternoon and they were here the next morning. I received good service overall. He did hit one of my water lines, which caused a break in the line. However, they got someone out to help us repair it very quickly. I would certainly recommend them to anyone for stump removal!

These guys are great! True professionals. They were prompt with both the appraisal and the job. Even when I had issues with a jerk of a neighbor, the guys calmly took care of the services needed. They were professional and respectful & sensitive to property line issues. I can't believe how fast they work. Even on one of the hottest days of the summer. All the debris was taken away and ground up. My place looked great when they were done. Yes, I could have probably done it myself with my husband, but in about an hour I had a great looking yard. Don't look at your ugly hedge any longer, call these guys. Their name may say "inexpensive", and yes they are compared to some larger companies, but I feel I got quality work done, for a fair price. Support smaller local business, these guys are worth it.

Failed to return phone message first time (as did several others), arrived as scheduled for estimate, good disposition, not pushy, did not suggest unnecessary work. Said he would call me on Tuesday to confirm Wednesday work. Did not call. I finally had to call him on Wednesday afternoon to determine what was happening. Work completed on Thursday. During esimate visit, we had discussed removing dead branches of one tree and somehow that did not get into the contract specific. I failed to notice that omission and it did not get done. That omission made the cost non-competitive compared to other bids. Other trimming was as presented, neat, good cleanup. Stump cut up was left in ditch instead of felling in accessible, manageable location for our use (poor planning). I paid after completion, with the agreed upon understanding that he would return and work out a managebale solution for the dead limb removal. No followup action occurred, even after I called again and left a message. Poor followup and closure.

"With all due respect to this member, we openly dispute (with the exception of the initial communication issue) his concerns on this job. All Angie's List members are given instant written on-site bids. The bids are then read back to them with my finger pointing at each word as it's read back to members to make sure both parties expectations are clear and met when the work is done. (Note this member agreement everything was "as presented, neat, good clean up.") When this member called with his concerns, he talked directly with the owner, who set a mutually agreed return date for the crew to finish what he felt was missed contracted work. Upon arrival, the crew went item by item with me on the phone and realized the work was done as mutually agreed during the crews first visit. (Again....see this member's own comments agreeing.) The large 25ft trunk from a tree someone else removed and we cut to 16" to 18" rounds, were (due to his landscaping...which does not include a "ditch") placed in about the only area possible....an area less than a foot lower than the rest of the yard. During the crews return visit, they were willing to move the wood, but (despite his knowing we were coming) left his dog outside where the trunk was located. The crew didn't feel safe with a growling and barking dog facing them, opting not to enter the back yard for any reason. Clearly we made every reasonable effort (and more) to resolve this member's concerns and wish him well in the future. For other Angie's List Member, we ask you read the reviews of all other members and see if this review makes sense. We look forward to exceeding your expectations."

They were the least expensive. I got three quotes. They were very prompt. From the quote, they were there just three days later. The stump remover they used was a pretty big machine. I don't know if it was appropriate for a landscaped backyard. I guess I would have appreciated them just letting me know. The work was fine and they got it done fast. They didn't damage my existing landscaping.

My neighbor had used them, and I liked the work that they did. I liked the estimate he gave, and he was right on the estimated price. He was professional and knowledgeable, and he made sure I got exactly what I wanted.

Lorin and his crew were great. The bid was prompt and priced very reasonable compared to other ones I had received. He was a little late arriving to get started, but it was not a big deal, especially since he had to drive all the way to Gresham from Scappose. Once on premise, they immediately got started and had the tree cut down right away. The tree climber worked amazingly fast, but also very careful not to let any falling branches hit the house. He got all the trees trimmed up to my meticulous instructions. The crew was working so hard I decided to buy them pizza for lunch. Overall, I was very satisfied. Highly recommend!!!

I was impressed. I called the day after the big wind storm not really expecting anyone until the following week. I had an estimate over the phone in a very short time and the tree was down, clean up completed, with a pile of wood cut in usable firewood lengths and stacked neatly by the curb by the time I came home from work. Clean up was thorough (they even took a huge branch I had cut off the same tree a few weeks prior) and there were no problems, despite the fact that the tree was leaning very hard toward the house. I would use them again.

Really good pricing (vs. other bids I got)! Nice people. Work done adequately, but not without some issues! Said job would only take 1 day, but ended up taking 3 days. On time 1st day, but didn't call when late on the 2nd day, or to tell me they still weren't finished after 2nd day (and would not be returning to finish until the following Monday)- I had to call them. Didn't actually come back til the Tues, but at least called to tell me this on the Mon. Didn't clean waste from chipper from neighbor's driveway on the Friday, although they weren't going to be back until the Mon. Broke glass patio tabletop (took $100 off the bill for that), crushed one gutter (they replaced it), took a piece of siding off my house (they tacked it back on), knocked bricks off my chimney (put back in place), and broke off my porch railing (they put it back on). While they accomplished job, and resolved the damages, not sure I'd want to use them again - they didn't seem to be very careful!
Response from Inexpensive Tree Care & Stumps Be Gone
"This is an unfair response. This was an extremely difficult tree that no other tree company would accept to do. She begged us to do the job. We realized after beginning the job that it was severely underbid for the enormity of the job. We are a very careful company with many workers, safety equipment, and skill. This tree was a monster hanging right over her house yet there was minor damage incurred. We fixed everything from the minor incidences and paid for the glass table. If there had been a less skilled company on this job, she could have lost the entire side of her house. A job like this should have been bid at $2,500- she got it for a 50% discount and she still had nothing nice to say about us. As far as our communication, we deserve an A because I called her when we were going to be there at 10am instead of 8am. We had to empty chip trucks and do minor equipment repair on the second day, I told her this. There was such a huge amount of work left to do after working solid for 2 days, we had to finish up on Monday. We ALWAYS clean up after our jobs, in fact, people are surprised how clean we leave jobs. If we missed a few chips on her neighbors driveway, this was certainly a small oversight and if it had been brought to our attention, we would have immediately cleaned it up. My crew is professional and we do a lot of business. Every once in a while we underbid a job or underestimate the time it will take to finish the tree. But I assure you, this isn't because we aren't working. My crew works very hard and steady. They are all non smokers (don't take breaks) and healthy. If this lady had been home and watched how hard my crew worked on her tree and the mountains of limbs and clean up we did, and the absolute masterful skill of my tree climber, she would never have said anything negative about my company."

Came out and submitted a bid for the basic work of falling a tree and cutting it into 14'' rounds for firewood. No other cleanup was needed and his was the most reasonable bid for what should only be two hours of work. Lorin and his tree climber arrived on schedule. This was important since PGE had to drop the power line in order to make the work safe for the tree cutter. The climber had to climb another tree, trimming as he went, in order for the damaged tree to land safely when it fell. All this was done on a cold windy day and the work was still done on time and per estimate.
