SOD Installation: This was a disaster because Nick and his crew did not grade our backyard properly and we were left with numerous peaks and valleys throughout the back yard which resulted in the pooling of water. Some peaks were a good 6inches higher than other some of the valleys after the installation. Super Sod came out after Nick was unresponsive and noticed how poorly the work Intrinity had done. My biggest issue is that Nick was unresponsive unless I included him in emails to Super Sod or posted an unfavorable review on the Intrinity Facebook page. About 75% - 80% of the SOD eventually died off. Super Sod was great because they gave us about 20 rolls of sod since Nick from Intrinity went radio-silent. We have since put about $1,000 into repairing the disaster Nick and his team created. Dry Rock River Bed: Nick and his crew did not properly line the dry rock river bed with liner as discussed and just dumped the rock throughout the bed. Nick told that you could not buy landscaping fabric wider than 3'. Interesting that I had 4' landscaping fabric from Sams Club in my garage. It took about 3 weeks for us to fix Nick's short comings with the dry rock river bed. Side Yard Landscaping: Nick was lost when it came to landscaping. We actually went out and purchased all of the plants and bushes and hired Nick and Intrinity to install them. After noticing that Intrinity was just digging holes in solid red clay and then planting the new plants and bushes with the clay that was dug up (no good soil was being used), I called Nick. He said that he would come back out and re-do the planting with planting soil. This never happened. We had to go back to dig everything out and replant with good soil. Once again, please understand that my issues were with Nick Sagnella when he owned Intrinity Landscaping. He supposedly sold the company in April, 2017. I found out about this when I posted a 1-year update on the Intrinity Landscaping Facebook page. I spoke with one of the new owners and they know my displeasure with the company when it was owned by Nick. Hopefully they did not retain the same personnel that worked for Nick. UPDATE:Just for clarification, the service provider response is totally inaccurate and insinuates extortion. Shame on them. For the record, · I had incurred more than $1,000 in expenses in addition to the money paid out to Intrinity Landscaping trying to level out my backyard and spur growth of the sod they installed. After many hours and months our backyard is starting to look OK and about as good as it looked before Intrinity Landscaping did their damage. · I sent Nick Sagnella, former owner of Intrinity Landscaping several emails offering a solution to the problem where he would “reimburse” me $1,000 of the money I paid him. · Nick finally responded and said that “sod will never grow well in my backyard. His solution was to kill off all the sod and put down $75 worth of fescue seed instead (Emails do not lie!). This is not an option since the major issue was primarily a result of Intrinity Landscaping not properly grading my backyard which we had almost fully corrected. The sod we installed is small areas that Super Sod gave us was growing just fine because it was properly installed. · Nick Sagnella would only respond to me if I made post on Facebook about the status of my sod. The last status post I made on Facebook was taken down by Intrinity Landscaping and I received a nasty email from the new owners of Intrinity Landscaping saying they would seek legal ramifications if I continued any additional negative reviews. · I personally made the effort to call the new owners. You would think they as the new owners of Intrinity Landscaping would make the effort to pick up the phone but this as not the case. I told them of my offer to Nick and they said that my issue was with Nick and not with them. In my opinion, there is a lack of Integrity when a company will allow positive reviews but tries to hide, remove or discourage any “not so good” reviews. I was appalled to see their response on Angies List and applaud Angies List for allowing my response to this reviews inaccurate response.

Great ! I can not say enough good things about Intrinity Landscaping. Last year I moved into my new home and selected Intrinity Landscaping to sod my 1 acre yard. They did an excellent job so I called them again to sod an area due to "hard scape" work that was completed. I had heard Intrinity Landscaping had changed ownership and did have concerns. Mr Cochran, the new owner, is wonderful to work with and he and his crew more than met my expectations. Mr Cochran communicated, followed through, and did an excellent job. I would not hesitate to call them again !

The installation went very well. It has been 3 months since the installation and the lawn looks terrific. Some of the preparation work was done on 5/24/16 and the remaining preparation work was completed and the sod installed on 5/25/16. Nick's crew were hard workers and cared about the quality of their work. Nick was very good about answering my questions during the entire process and gave me watering instructions at the end. He has also answered questions for me after the installation. Nick also helped me with a problem that was not his fault. A healthy crop of nutsedge sprang up from the sod from Super Sod. This was Super Sod's lack of quality control, not anything that Intrinity Landscaping did. Nick got Super Sod to give me two packets of Sedgehammer+ turf herbicide to spray on the nutsedge to kill it. Some areas where they can improve: 1) I think more time should have been allowed to kill off the existing vegetation. 2) the crew should have done a better job of evenly spreading the black leaf compost; I had to ask them to spread it better. The area where they dumped it had way too much and other areas of the yard did not have enough, or any at all. 3) The unlucky new guy on the crew struggled rolling the 270 lb. roller and should have had some help, thus doing a better job of removing air pockets and ensuring the sod roots are in contact with the soil underneath. I would use Intrinity Landscaping again without hesitation; there is no need to obtain a proposal from another company.

Nick, with Intrinity Landscaping, did the sod installation on my new home. I could not be more pleased ! He came out and assisted me in deciding which grass, gave me an estimate, and the work was performed on time ! I was in the process of moving my elderly father and could not be present when the work was performed. True to his word, he did everything as promised !! I would not hesitate to use his services in the future ! A very satisfied client.

Nick was recommended by Outdoor Artisans. I was very happy with the patio and landscape they completed so trusted their recommendation. Nick was great to work with ! His crew was prompt, polite, and professional. He came out the same day his crew installed to discuss care & maintenance of our lawn. He stressed the importance of water & importance of maintenance. He made it clear his company doesn't take care of maintenance.

Nick from Intrinity responded promprtly early-on when I requested a quote. Nick was always on-time with appointments that we had discussed. Nick provided the quote before leaving my porperty on the first site visit. Nick and his crew held to a tight timeline to complete the installation. They did a nice job, and completed the effort in 1 day, with on-site follow-up the next day to ensure that everything was taken care of. The price was higher than I would have anticipated, but this was a tight timeline per my requirements, which Nick agreed to honor, and may have increased the price above his normal price as a result. I would definitely use Intrinity Landscaping again for sod installation in the future.
These guys are terrific! There are a lot of companies you can choose from - save yourself any more time/headache and select Intrinity Landscape.
I'll admit that it was difficult a few times to keep in touch on getting the final quote and scheduling the day to perform the work; however, Nick (the owner) was very good to work with and made up for any trouble with an excellent final product at a fair price. His workers accidentally caused some minor damage to some of my sprinklers; however, it was repaired promptly. They never asked for, nor seemed to expect, full payment until they were sure I was completely satisfied.
The most impressive part about this company is definitely the workers. They are the nicest and most courteous people I've ever had do work for me. For example, one time when I came outside to check on how the work was progressing, I apologized if I was getting in the way...but the worker said, "we're the ones in your way, this is your house and we've got your front yard all torn up...but we'll be sure to get the job done perfect as fast as we can so we can get out of your way and you can enjoy your new lawn." That quote (although not perfectly word for word, but VERY close) is exactly how the entire crew carried themselves all day. They genuinely love the work, have a sense of pride in a job well done and are the epitome of putting the customer first.
About a month later, Nick emailed me asking how things were and if I had any questions. Another example of showing they really care about ensuring I was a satisfied customer. If I feel there's a question/problem, I have no doubt Nick would be ready to help. If I decide to put sod in my back yard, I would definitely use them again.
Nick was very responsive and thorough. His usual supplier did not have any sod available when our project was scheduled. Nick was able to locate a different provider and get the job done on the date promised.
I would use Intrinity again in a heartbeat.
One word of warning......be prepared to spend a LOT of money on water for your new sod. It will need watering 3-4 times a day for the first 3 weeks.
I could not be more pleased with the work that Intrinity Landscaping did for us! The quality of work and the service were top notch, and I don't know that I have ever had anybody work on my property who has been so impressive.
Before the sale, Nick responded to my initial request for information in about an hour. Other providers I solicited took days, and some never even got back to me. Nick came out to our property as soon as it was convenient for us (on a Saturday) to take measurements, educate us on the process, and prepare a quote. He provided the estimate before he left, and we felt it was reasonable based on what we had seen and researched for the market.
Not everybody realizes that sod--especially in May and June--is incredibly weather dependent. If there's too much rain, the sod cutters can't get the sod. Or suppliers might not have enough of the right kind of sod available. So any timing estimate you receive for installation is highly subject to change. Nick let me know this up front, and he did a good job of keeping me updated on when he thought he would be able to start my job. In fact, he was actually able to work my job in a little early due to sod availability.
When the time came, Nick's installers started by removing the old plant material (mostly weeds, clover, and dead grass). They even took away some extra gravel that I hadn't been able to remove from one area because my wheelbarrow broke. They then spread new topsoil and aerated the soil. The next day, they returned in 95-degree heat and spent twelve full hours installing the sod. They were extremely conscientious, and the results look great. Our neighborhood association recently had sod installed (by another company) in the "park," and it looks like a bad patchwork quilt a week later. Nick's guys mad sure that all of the pieces in our yard fit together perfectly. There are no gaps, and you can barely see the seams. They cleaned up all of the leftover sod bits, used a leaf blower to clean up the sidewalks, and even pressure washed the sidewalks and driveway.
Plus, my wife says that Nick's team consisted of two of the most polite young men she had ever interacted with. Things were "Yes, ma'am," "No, ma'am," "And thank you very much, ma'am." I gave them each a small tip at the end of their 12-hour blistering-hot day, and they were both as grateful as could be.
But here's the most impressive thing. Nick came over yesterday to pick up the final payment for the service. While here, he noticed a handful of spots that were basically dead. Some of these were bad patches in the middle of otherwise green sod. However, more than I care to admit were places where I simply hadn't gotten enough water on the sod early enough--mostly in the berm between the sidewalk and the street. You know what Nick did? He is outside right now on a Sunday morning by himself replacing the dead patches in 89-degree heat. He didn't have to do that, but it's indicative of the kind of service he offers.
If you need sod, contact Nick. He will do a great job for you.
One final thing . . . If you're thinking of getting sod installed, do not underestimate the importance of watering. A lot. And frequently. When that sod goes in, it is stressed and drying out. You need to get water on every inch of it immediately. It will be a pain. And for the first 24 to 48 hours, you will be a slave to your lawn. But that's just the way it has to be.

We wrote a review right after the work was done and gave him an A rating. Unfortunately, in spring we noticed there were a lot of bare spots and weed growing in the bare areas. We had a lawn company and spray and try to kill the weeds. We contacted Nick and he promptly came out and told us he would take care of all our problem areas including replacing an area in the front where the grass died completely. He suggested we wait till the fall to repair the lawn. We did agree and we contacted him again in October. and again he came out., and said he would be there the following week to do the work. We never heard from him again. We emailed him 5 times,. left text messages and also voice messages asking him to please respond, so we would know what to do next. Now 3 months later we still have not heard from him. So we would strongly suggest to get a warranty in writing or not do business with him. We are so very disappointment with the way he is now doing business. We really liked him and thought he was a man of his word.

Response from Intrinity Landscaping Inc
"Dear [Member name removed], Thank you for your business in the fall of 2013. As with any and all sod installations that we perform, there is no warranty on the performance of your lawn after installation because watering, lawn care, and maintenance are the responsibility of the client and Intrinity Landscaping does not offer maintenance services. Our preparation and installation process is thorough and provides everything necessary to have a successful lawn. I was unable to identify any bare spots at all upon my first, second, and third visits after install. When I visited in June 2014, I took pictures of the lawn to document that it was in good condition and there were no dead areas. A that time (early summer) I advised Mr. Miller to contact your lawn maintenance company to address the beginnings of fungus which is common in the warm months. There were a few small areas that, as of early spring 2014, were growing a little slower. However, by early summer the lawn was flourishing. It wasn't until my 4th visit in late fall of 2014 that a small 2'x3' area next to the driveway and a few very small (size of a tennis ball) patches near the road had at some point withered and died. I then stated that as a courtesy, not obligation, I would replace the areas when we had extra sod from another installation. Upon my last visit, the lawn was still in spectacular condition with the exception of about 15 square feet of lawn that died almost a year after planting. Again, Intrinity Landscaping does not offer a warranty on the longevity of a lawn but we do ensure that it has everything it needs to succeed."

I initially dealt with Nick a year ago when he bid on another job and liked him so much, I wrote an Angie's List comment even though I didn't hire him.
But I was impressed enough to hire him to do some landscaping work on our front yard and in the rear yard, to pulverize our hard soil and add seeding and compost to get grass to grow in some tough areas. Nick was able to schedule the rear yard work quickly. However, as written in other comments, Nick did not show with his crew on the day of the rear yard work, to my surprise. However, his men did a very nice job and I was pleased. Nevertheless, I feel it should be a standard that the one walking the job with the customer should at least be there for the start of the job.
Nick was also supposed to draw up some plans for the front planters and include plant material suggestions. send them to me and discuss availablity to install. But this didnt happen. I spoke with him a few days after the inital work (last week of October) and he said he would send them soon, but i didnt get them. Two weeks later (last week), I called him again and he seemed distracted but said he had plans draw up and would send them to me. I explained that getting the work completed hinged on his availablity so time was of the essence. Before we were finished talking, he said he'd have to get off the phone and asked if he could "call right back." I said yes, but he never did. I waited a few days and called him again; getting his Voice Mail I asked him to please call me which he has not.
This left me in a bind to find a landscaper on short notice perform the work. I believe your word is your bond so, unless there was some significant reason why, Nick's failure to respond speaks toward his ability to follow through on his word.
I contacted Nick @ Intrinity Landscaping who within a day came out to assess our yard and provide a quote. This was a new home and our yard consisted of mostly clay soil. Nick explained the process that he and his team goes through with the sod installation. Nick provided me with an estimate & I immediately took to the web to check his Angie's List & NC BBB ratings. All were positive & upon evaluating the prep work he does to the yard & the price-per-square-foot he quoted I hired Nick for the job. I couldn't be happier with Nick & his team. It was mid-August & Nick suggested that if we could we should wait until early fall to install the sod in order to avoid the late summer heat that would give our grass the best chance to grow. We agreed to wait until mid-September. As I mentioned earlier this was a new home & we were trying to get our Certificate of Occupancy so we could move in. Nick took it upon himself to spread straw on our lawn to satisfy our CO requirements so we could move in.
Nick & his crew began prepping our yard the second week of September. I was amazed by the care his crew took to get the dirt at the grade levels and 'stitching' the pallets of sod together so it all looks uniform. It took about three days to get everything done. One of those days his crew literally worked from dawn to dusk to get our backyard done. Upon completion Nick said we would need to water our yard twice a day, everyday for two weeks to get the grass to take to the soil. He finished on a Friday so the first time our inground irrigation system would run would be that Saturday. The irrigation crew, not part of Intrinity, assured me the system was ready to run. That next day some of the sprinkler heads weren't popping up the way they should and one of the heads had completely broken off leaving water gushing into the street. I couldn't get a hold of the irrigation folks but I tried Nick and he came by within the hour on Saturday. He did what he could but it meant a lot to me that he came out on a Saturday to try to address a problem that wasn't his. I've found Nick to be both honest & fair throughout the process. I don't think you'll find a better price for the quality and attention to detail that Nick & his crew observe when installing sod in your yard. Highly recommended!!
Nick is the right man for the job but due to his expansion he did not do the job himself and his help made some mistakes
that led to what I considered an expensive fix for his company and extra work for me. They had to re-pull the sod and level the area better and tuck the edges. There are still some uneven spots and low spots in areas and the nutsedge and some other weed is growing like a fiend in the sod. So now I am having to spray nutsedge killer. To Nicks credit he did give me the sprayer and Sedgehammmer. Still working out the bugs in the yard Nick is very professional and I feel he will make it right.
Nick and his crew did everything right. Prompt return of phone calls, detailed proposal for the work, answered all my questions and did what he said they would do! Mt daughter just became a homeowner in Huntersville and we knew the back yard needed work when we bought the home. Being out of state in DE I looked up landscapers in her area, and found Intrinity Landscaping here on Angie's. On my 1st contact with Nick, I knew why he and his company get such high marks. Nick is very knowledgable of his products and this comes across immediately. The price was fair and his professionalism so I felt comfortabl letting him decide the best grass for her situation. Due to the rain and cooler weather, the install was pushed back, but he kept in contact to let us know it was still pending. Nick even arrived on a Sunday, while she was waiting for the install, and prepped her garden and even planted a tomato plant. Once ready to farm, the install went without a hitch and looks great...... AAAAA+++++
We had a wonderful experience with Nick of Intrinity Landscaping. From the beginning, he communicated with us promptly and professionally. He helped us make an informed decision about what type of grass was right for our home and explained the process involved in laying sod in detail. All the prep work was done efficiently and he and his crew were on time and worked hard into the evening hours, even in the hot sun! The sod was laid in a beautiful diagonal striped pattern that looked very attractive. Nick was thorough in giving us tips on the care of the sod after it was installed, recommending watering schedules and type of sprinkler and hose systems. Almost a year later, our grass is still doing great! It is a huge improvement from what we had (lots of weeds and crab grass patches) and our toddler loves running around and playing in the yard now. The grass is lush and healthy. I am so glad that we chose to go with Intrinity as all our expectations have been met and even exceeded. It is a very worthwhile investment and this company was a pleasure to work with. The knowledge, work ethic, and timeliness Nick showed are just what you hope for in a contractor.

My lawn was previously damaged by delivery fork lift. It was in bad shape which needed good prep before laying don the sod. I contacted few vendors but Nick was my best shot. I short listed Nick from Angieslist reviews. Nick gave me a time, stopped by punctually and provided me an estimate. Since the damage cost was going to be born by delivery company, Nick had to interface with the company manager and answer tons of questions-Why this, why not this, do we really need to do this...on and on. Nick not only patiently answered the questions but came across as a true professional who knows his trade. He gave me a date, showed on on time, got on with the work, finished on time, cleaned spic and span, did a fantastic job with great customer service and smile. He answered all my questions, walked me thru the process and gave me detailed after care instructions. It was such pleasure doing business with him and I would not think a second for my future lawn needs.
We have a medium size backyard that was a complete dirt pit due to our many dogs running around and the lack of upkeep the prior owners maintained. We were interested in sod insallation but were not sure which company to use. After a few random google searches we decided to check out Angie's List. Intrinity Landscaping had a 'A' rating and rave reviews so we decided to request a quote for sod installation.
Nick was quick to return my call regarding a quote. He showed up on time to our consultation and worked with us on different options to ensure we came in under budget. He was here the exact day and time he said he would be here to start the sod installation and completed the job in the alloted time he quoted us (2 days.) Nick also only uses organic, natural ingredients to ensure there are no negative effects to the environment, animals and even more important to us-our pets
After the installation was completed he has followed up with us to ensure everything was to our liking. As well as recommened different ways to ensure that we keep our lawn green, healthy and helped us with a watering schedule.
I cannot say enough amazing things about Nick and his crew! We are planning on using him again in the fall to even out and seed our front yard. I HIGHLY recommend him to anyone who wants to work with a local business owner who sticks by his word and is very pleasant to work with!
