We have a six year old AC system. A few days ago, on the first really hot day of the year, the system came on, provided cold air for about an hour, then quit. The first AC company that examined the system (the HVAC sub of a contractor who built a new room for us) said that the malfunction was due to a compressor gone bad and not the result of his having moved the condenser/compressor to the other side of our house. I called Iwai (who installed the system six years previously) for a second opinion. When the Iwai rep arrived, I explained to him that the fan at the top of the condenser/compressor was turning more slowly than normal, and the system just kind-of whines. The Iwai rep replied, "it sounds like a capacitor." Sure enough, within 10 minutes Brandon had the capacitor replaced and we had cold air. Given their quick response, diagnosis and repair, Iwai rates five stars with us.

They botched the repair of my furnace, breaking my air conditioner in the process. They finally fixed the air after I suffered thru a 4 day triple digit heat wave, but were unable to fix the furnace even after charging me for a new motor. They then walked away from the job leaving furnace parts disassembled up in my attic, saying they didn't know how to do the repair. I was forced to call in another company who made the repair without a hitch. Benedict refused to refund my money for the motor so I went to court and obtained a judgment against them. That was nearly 2 years ago and thus far I have still not been paid. They have dodged paying me by operating under other company names and using different licenses. Their original license with the California License Board has expired and they are not operating under the name Iwai Heating and Air (same owner, different license). I have had to return to court 3 times and will not rest until the owner, Craig Iwai, pays me for the cost of an unneeded motor.

We had 2 jobs done by Iwai. First, they did the central air for our 3 bedroom house in LA. Many of the other companies said we needed to put in additional vents but Iwai suggested putting the system in and adding the vents later if we were not satisfied with the air flow. This ended up saving us thousands. the second jod was a mini-split HVAC for our garage conversion. our general contractor gave us a ridiculous price so we called our friends at Iwai for a second opinion and they were great. The price was low and when the inspector gave us a hard time about silly details Brandon sent his team out multiple times to deal with it even though it was a relatively small job for them. Both times the work was high quality, the price was great and the professionalism was above reproach. I would recommend them without hesitation to anyone.

Great! Iwai proves again that they are a good choice. Solved a difficult situation by making the extra effort to find a solution to an abnormal situation.

The technician came out, was prompt and responsive. I had used this company in the past to clean the blower in my air conditioner. They were the most reasonable available and they did a really good job. This time, I felt the price was a little high for the job. The thermostat that I was sold is available on amazon for $39.99. I was charged $125 for the thermostat plus labor which was $96. The job took less than 30 minutes. If I was going to pay $125 for a thermostat, I would have liked the option to pick out a nicer one with more features and smart capabilities like wifi, etc.

Great! The technician came out on time and was very professional. He let me know what the issue was and gave me a price to fix. About 30 mins later I had my A/C up and running like new again! He also replaced my filter for me at now extra cost

I won’t recommend them. They came out here and wanted to overcharge me for a new furnace and so they were out here and the guy was working and I said to hold on because I have to call another company. I called another company and the replacement was about $1,000 less than what this company did. So I called the manager in the office and said it was ridiculous. He said he will give me that price. I was getting ripped off for $1,000. I was very disappointed in their pricing. The representative came out and he was outstanding. He was very, very nice. It’s not a high end unit and they didn’t really talked to me about other options.

We hired this provider to do a tune up on our air conditioner. They came out and the technician did not change the filter and it is not working at all where it was working fine before he starting working on it. The technician stated he didn't have a filter and I thought that he was going to come back with it but he has not come back. I have called the provider and they have not returned the call. I also found out that this provider's license has been suspended.

I called Iwai to confirm the recommendation that I needed to replace my AC units. The workman said my AC units were in perfect working order; he could find nothing wrong with either of the two units. He said if they were his, he would not replace either of them. Then he performed the tune-ups I'd called the original provider for. Everything with them is always an A in my mind.

Jim went above and beyond checking for water leaks in and around my AC unit on the roof. Even went crawling in the attic to locate problem areas and spent a lot of time investigating.

Not only did the technician find what was wrong, he told me that the unit was in really good shape (after he got it running) and that it was good to go for many more years. That's honesty for ya! I know that IWAI is a little far from the westside of LA but I called Craig anyway because of the great job he did for another one of my clients. The tech got out there within 48 hours and made some minor repairs to a unit that I was told would possibly need replacing. My clients were thrilled at the low cost of the inspection and that it only needed a couple of parts to get it running like new. They ended up buying the condo and are extremely happy. But wait, there's more!
(Second Job) I met Craig in January of 2015 when he came out to look at a heating problem in one of my client's apartment complexes in Beverly Hills. This was an old building (1947) that had 3 gravity furnaces underneath the property. All 3 were original and failing. I got three bids to have them removed and replaced with new units. One bid was just over $18,000, the other just over $16,000. Mind you, this was to remove three gravity furnaces, replace them with new gas furnaces, including some duct work, as well as do a complete new installation in the attic of the top floor unit. IWAI's price came in approx. $8,000 cheaper than the highest bid!!! $8,000!!!! I was skeptical at first. I mean who wouldn't be? An $8,000 difference? But I discussed it with my client and we went with IWAI Heating and Cooling. Not only did Craig do what he said he was going to do, but he started on the day he promised, and he finished on time as well!!! The tenants had only nice things to say about he and his crew and no one was inconvenienced but for a couple of hours when an air return had to be installed in one of the lower units. The job couldn't have gone any better and the price was outrageously inexpensive for the work that was performed. My client was thrilled and so were her tenants, especially now that they had heat. Thanks to Craig and his crew for taking care of this job with the upmost professionalism. If you need anything regarding HVAC, call IWAI heating and cooling. Have them come out and give you a quote; you'll be glad you did!!!
They tried to scam me out of a $1,000. They quote me a price and then I called around and I saw that I could get it for a $1,000 cheaper and then they dropped the price by a $1,000. I felt like I was being overcharged and taken advantage of. The quality of service was very good. The guy that came out was professional, the guy on the phone was not so much.

Did the work. Did not follow up on future work (said he would check things and come back). Did not reveal to me that my AV unit was twice the size it should be and the duct work was inadequate.
