If you're looking for a budget job, keep looking. Jack isn't cheap, but he gives you the highest quality service and work. Started on time, worked continuously, finished on time. Spent a lot of time with us discussing the options and planning the work. "Old School" perfectionism. Minimized household disruptions and cleaned up well at the end of each day. Came immediately when we had a minor problem after the job was completed and paid for. The finished product looks fabulous. And if you're a dog lover, you might even get to meet Jack's french bulldog Coco.

Easy as planned

It went exactly as planned. Unlike other contractors who jump start and surprise you later, Jack took the time planning and making us understand how things would be done step by step. He also built in a contingency plan and made us aware of it. Hands down Jack is one of the best contractors we have worked with by far!

Jack contacted us on the first day and agreed to meet with us after we filled out a form on Angie’s list to find a general contractor in our new hometown. It was immediately obvious that Jack and his son, Dom, knew what they were doing and so we were hopeful the estimate would fit into our budget. Within a week (which included speaking to some contractors that could not or would not do everything we were looking for) we signed a contract with Jack and they begin working within a short amount of time. Our original plan was just the tankless water heater, generator and bookshelves. During their time with us, we discovered a roof leak and Jack and his son spent hours determining exactly what was wrong. We had no doubt that we would use them to repair our roof as well. Overall, we were very happy with Jack, Dom and all the subcontractors. You won’t regret working with Jack.

Were very professional as was their crew. They were very communicative throughout the entire process and were a pleasure to work with.

If I have to do it again I will call the same guy. Not the cheapest on the block but I got what I paid for - on time, no bullsh.t, no contract tricks, no headache, clean.

We called Jack Cwyl & Son Builders for an estimate for remodeling our downstairs living room, dining room, kitchen, bath, new floors, and opening up walls to give us an open concept living space. Jack was very professional and very straight forward about our expectations, explaining everything to us to ease our fears and avoid any surprises that we were worried about, and gave us some design suggestions to make the most of our project. Once we proceeded with the remodeling, we were kept in the loop every step of the way. Work proceeded on schedule without any surprises and with great quality and workmanship. They met all our expectations and gave us the beautiful home we've dreamed of. I recommend Jack whenever possible to my friends and family.

Jack and his son started on time and was here everyday including some Saturdays for 6 weeks. They worked from around 8-6 daily. We lived in the house during the remodel and Jack took extra steps to minimize the dust of a plaster tear down. He installed plastic barriers and used the new 3M floor plastic to protect the carpets. Jack cleaned up everyday. He parked his trailer in our driveway so he had everything he needed on site.  <br /> Jack did some amazing work with a 115 year old house with no wall/floor joint at a right angle. He custom built door thresholds for closets and entry doors. He installed crown moulding and floor trim in some crazy locations. He saved our year old carpets by using shoe molding to cover carpet gaps. He re-framed some poorly installed windows. He has a good eye for design and took the time to make sure the finish product was going to look great. He did not cut corners and delivered a quality product, probably for less than he should have charged. If you are going to have 2 people practically live with you for 6 weeks, you couldn't ask for friendlier and more accommodating people. <br />

The father-son team of Jack and Dominic gave us a great price for a complete remodeling of our bathroom and significant renovation of the kitchen.  The price was inclusive of granite countertop, something that we initially thought would not be within our budget.  Jack and Dominic did all the work themselves.  We found them to be responsible, friendly, and very professional.  They did a great job while in the process keeping our home clean for our family.  They also removed all the trash after they were done.  We really like our new kitchen and bathroom, and would gladly hire Jack and Dominic again for future projects. <br />

We hired Jack Cwyl for opening up a few walls at our house. Through the complete journey ?initial-visit?-to-?inspection-by-township? we found Jack to be a through professional with great communication & consultative acumen. He was very patient to understand our needs, made unbiased recommendations on what is possible, what is not and where we would be needlessly wasting money. He brought in an A-team to do the job - from his architect to the folks delivering the engineered beams to the folks finishing the wall casings - everyone took full ownership of the job @ hand , left no mess behind and the end result speaks for itself! We did not have to spend any extra time overseeing Jack? team through the 2 week engagement. Matter of fact, we had other renovations happening at the house and Jack provided oversight on the work being performed and coached other businesses on how they could service us better. Jack was excellent. He was very responsive, and helped source the best priced, best quality door. He took pride in his work and came back several times to make sure that the door frame trim was aligned and colored properly. He took great effort to match the style of the door to the existing molding and color. A great aesthetic sense. He finished the job on time. <br />

Jack was a pleasure to deal with. We wanted to replace the wooden front porch with a low/no maintenance equivalent, including the rusty stair railings. Jack worked with us to arrive at a building product that was in our price range and well rated. He also identified and repaired some damage arising from a poorly installed piece of vinyl siding on one of the porch sides. He and his son worked tirelessly to complete the project, including on Labor Day. I would hire Jack for other house projects without hesitation. <br />

They were a pleasure to deal with.  They were very prompt and punctual from the beginning.  I initially just wanted to replace the cabinets in my kitchen.  Upon Jack's recommendation we opened up the wall into the dining area, making the area much more spacious and comfortable.  <br /> They worked very fast and cleanly and finished ahead of schedule.  I would recommend them to family and friends.

We hired Jack's firm for our new project. It was 18,000 sq ft addition to our existing house and believe me, our project was not easy by any  means. We checked out quite few competitors  before we decided to go with  Jack.  I'm glad we did. It was big project but he handled perfectly.From building permits  and all paper work to the end of  constraction we   didn't have to worry about anything. Very professional,  reliable, always on time . Even  our picky friends complemented him on his job.  If you need somebody for small or big job you can hire Jack's firm without any hesitation . I noticed a dip in my living room floor (150+ years old house).  I went to the basement to check out the problem and discovered termite-damaged sub-flooring and floor joists.  This father and son team arrived promptly each day, were extremely courteous and professional; they even made friends with my somewhat pesky cat.  As expected with an old house, uncovering one problem led to several others.  I was advised of each additional problem and the work involved was clearly explained.  They went above and beyond what I expected.  The finished product shows true old-world craftsmanship.  I am extremely pleased and satisfied with all the work that was done.

<p>One of the Cwyl members showed up virtually within half an hour of my initial call and started working on the problem right away. He already had all the basic supplies (which didn't require extensive or rare materials) ...within an hour the problem had been assessed (the drywall seam had literally pushed out) and it had been cut out, spackled and respackled. </p> Next evening he returned and sanded it all down and it looked completely flush with the wall. The work was excellent, top notch and very reasonable price with no mess left behind.

The addition to an existing house was approximately 700 sf. Plus the renovation of master bathroom , library room and entertainment room with a wet bar. I'm pleased with the work as it was performed on a professional level. It was done in a timely manner and for all the problems arising on the job he was able to find good resolution in inexpensive way. I would definitely use him again.
