It went very well. James was very punctual and did a very good job. He took off broken boards, measured and sawed new boards for fit, and plaster holes from that were from a plumbing leak.

James is a great guy.  He was professional, friendly, courteous and was very patient as we kept finding wood that needed replacing.  He milled the siding, replace 2x4's, removed electrical box, light switches etc.  He works very efficiently as he is paid by the hour, which worried me a little, but we are so pleased with the quality of work, the type of wood he used and his work ethic.  Absolutely and totally glad we called him!   Thanks James! <br />

James is reliable, prompt and very talented. We had custom cabinets designed for our garage and because they are so deep and wide, they began to sag in the middle. Side note: original woodworker should have known this would happten after time. James built and installed supports. But the really beautiful job he accomplished is the work he performed modifying the straight pillars to the type that adorn a Craftsman style home. They look just great. He is realistic about what can be done. We asked him about some furniture and he told us he could change the one piece but could not change the second piece. I appreciate his frankness. He works quietly and keeps a very clean work space. James is a great find. <br />

James arrived promptly.  He completed the 3 jobs quickly considering there was a problem with putting the ceiling fan together due to poor quality.  I purchased it from Lamps Plus.  All in all James went about his work.  Some guys have the gift of gab on my dime but he did not. I would definitely hire him again. <br />

I called James and described the problem to him. He suggested that I remove the collaped piece from the main cabinet and bring the unit to him, which saved me money for his travel time. I brought the cabinet unit to him. He did a great job of reassembling the unit, used stronger nails to connect the pieces together and then applied a large amount of very strong glue to finalize the reassembly. The work was done when he said it would be done. We are most happy with the reassembled unit, which is far stronger than that provided by the original cabinet manufacturer. <br />

He showed up early and was ready to go. Excellent work done with due care. I will use Jim again in the future and am very happy to recommend him.

I called James the a day or two before and he came by to diagnose the problems mentioned earlier--he determined the garbage disposal needed to be replaced (he went out to get a new garbage disposal and replaced it the same day). He determined the gas dryer air duct (which allows the dryer air to be vented to the outside) did not need to be replaced but just needed to be sealed. He repaired some wood damage on a door frame very well. He also determined that the occasional loud noise when turning on hot water in a bathtub could not be repairs without tearing out the wall.. <br /> Overall, his diagnoses was very professional and honest and the repair work he did was excellent. <br />

James was extremely professional. He promptly responded to all calls and text messages. He was punctual, honest, careful and thoughtful in his repair work. Wherever possible, he tried to use whatever could be salvaged in order to avoid disposing of otherwise useful materials. I found him to be honest in his assessments and definitely reliable. I observed his work and can say that it was done in a very high quality manner. In addition, relative to the high quality and reliability of the work he does, his hourly fees are extremely reasonable. I would strongly recommend James for any job and have referred my friends and neighbors to seek him out for any necessary repair work. He will be coming back to install an attic ladder and lay plywood down in the attic for additional storage. I fully expect to write another great review for him then as well. <br />

My elderly parents hired James to repair my Dad's favorite recliner. James came out promptly and did the repairs. It is good to have a trustworthy handyman who is prompt and professional. They are relatively hard to find, and the good ones often will not come out for smaller jobs. Thanks James. <br />

James had to make two trips out to my house. On the first trip he accomplished all the tasks enumerated above including going to Home Depot and purchasing the battery for the garage door opener and new light bulbs. He was very fast and efficient, brought all his tools and knew exactly how to proceed. Unfortunately, the battery he bought at Home Depot was bad. So he made a second trip out, no additional cost, checked the battery, went back to Home Depot and found a battery that was good. There were several on the shelf that were not good. Apparently people buy a new battery, return the old one, and get their money back. He said it wasn't unusual to have that happen. James stands behind his work and is extremely competent. Although he's not as cheap as some, he moves to fast and gets so much done, that the overall price for all he accomplishes is reasonable. <br />

We needed numerous repairs at my mother-in-law's home recently in Monterey Park. We were very gratefull that a neighbor told us about James Edward Handyman and Custom Woodwork. James fixed 2 electrical problems, 3 doors, and 2 plumbing problems. He also advised us who we could call on those rare problems he didn't handle. He worked quickly and at reasonable rates and did an excellent job. We will definately call him in the future. <br /> <br />
