Jays Appliance Repair

I could not wait to make this review. The tech was outstanding as he troubleshot my washer problem in less than 5 minutes. It took him only another 20 minutes to completely repair it. He gave me a 0ne year warranty on top of it! If you don't call Jays, you called the wrong people!! Highly, highly recommended!!

They thought it was the timer, then re-diagnosed as the gas valve, replaced it, works perfectly.

The call was for an ice maker issue in the Electrolux refrigerator plus another issue with an Electrolux dishwasher.   He walked into the kitchen and stopped dead in his tracks, saying Electrolux had issues with ice makers in these old refrigerators (only 6-7 years old) and wasn't worth trying to fix because he had never had any luck with them (he looked to be in his twenties, that's a lot of experience to base a comment like that on or an admission that he's not a good appliance repairman).  He asked if i used a rinse aid in the dishwasher and said that would solve that problem.  He may have opened the door of the dishwasher to come to that conclusion but I don't recall that he even did that.  He almost didn't look at the ice maker but I made him open the door and take a look.  He rattled off about 3 parts that could the problem with the ice maker and said they were expensive and he didn't recommend trying.   He was in my house for maybe 10 minutes and for this I had to pay a $80.25 service fee. <br> <br>I asked him about the ice maker parts and based on his descriptions said I'd be willing to try one particular part because that was the only one that had anything to do with the symptoms.  He then said that was the only part that would deal with the symptoms I mentioned (thanks for the recommendation!).  They ordered it and he came back and installed it and haven't had any issues since then, but given the history of the ice maker I'm not declaring it fixed yet, that will come in another 6-8 weeks.  But to be clear, if it is fixed it is not a victory for Jay's Appliance Repair, I had to tell him that I wanted to order that part.  He merely agreed with me after I told him. <br> <br>Not happy that he didn't want to work on my stuff.  When he came back to install the part in the refrigerator I told him the problem with the dishwasher was still there after about 6 cycles with rinse aid.  He barely acknowledged that and changed the subject.  I just wanted him out of my house at that point. <br> <br>Based on that experience with Jay's Appliance Service I joined Angies List so i could find a reputable company to come fix the dishwasher.  Imagine my surprise (and disgust) to see Jay's listed with an "A" rating.  I figure at this point I got ripped off by joining Angies List.  Based on their advertising I thought it was supposed to protect me from fly-by-night companies such as Jay's Appliance Service!!

I was very, very pleased with that. I'd give them 5 stars. They were great. I was really happy with them. Everything they did was topnotch. They were very good. They were very responsive. They showed up when they were supposed to. They did the work really good.

My Dryer would not turn on. I used Angie's List for a recommendation. I promptly received a call from Jay's Appliance and after talking to the lady about repairs we set up an appointment. The tech arrived on time and repaired the dryer. Very good service and very polite, professional people. The cost was very reasonable. I will definitely use them again if I need any more repairs.

When the appointment was made, the problem was discussed. It was suggested that I call back with model number so any parts that may need replacement were readily available. Technician called 15 minutes before arrival, came on time. Went to work right away, found the problem and replaced an igniter all within about an hour. <br />

I was very pleased with the service I received. Jay was very pleasant and professional. He completed the task in a timely manner and the cost was reasonable. I am glad I used Angie's List to find Jay's Appliance Repair. I would recommend him to my friends <br />

They were prompt, nice, and very helpful. And most importantly, they fixed it!

Our brand-new Maytag dryer stopped heating up so we placed a warranty call with Whirlpool and Jay's Appliance was assigned to service our dryer. It turns out the installation by Lowe's was not completely correctly and this was causing the dryer to stop working. Jay reinstalled the electrical plug, warned us about an electrical problem with the 240V outlet for the dryer and we contacted the landlord to replace the outlet and prevent a fire or damage to the dryer in the future. Jay came out and did the work and he called the day before the appointment to see what was wrong with the dryer. When he arrived he diagnosed the problem and fixed it in under 10 minutes. <br />

The part needed was no longer made and a universal part was installed; however, the freezer still did not work.  The service man returned and prepared the freezer to be hauled off because the price to fix it would run close to the price of purchasing a new one.  Despite two service calls, I was only charged one service call and it was obvious that my satisfaction was a top priority.  The service technician was punctual, professional, and understanding.  I feel the service rendered was fair and appropriate. <br />

Jay was punctual, professional and extremely reasonable in performing the repair to our washing machine. He even went out of his way to replace a gasket on the ice door of our freezer with a part he had in his truck after I mentioned the problem. I would recommend him highly to anyone needing home applicance repairs on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. <br />
