My advice to you: don't use these guys unless you want to listen to upsell pitches like you're at a car dealership, and pay WAY more than you need to. I had hired them several years ago, and they were great, bailing us out after someone else's botched water heater installation. However, things seem to have gone downhill. Last month, I hired them to do 2 things: (1) fix the clogged kitchen sink, and (2) rod the slow-draining bathtub. They fixed the kitchen sink just fine. However, for the bathtub, they said they couldn't fix it because some piece was broken off which blocked their equipment, so it would cost me several thousand dollars to replace all the piping in back of the tub. Well, I got a second opinion from another plumber, and he was able to rod the bathtub for $150, no replacement pipes needed, and nowhere near the several thou Blanton wanted. Meanwhile Blanton had cut 2 giant holes in my drywall behind the tub, to "diagnose the issue," and they scratched my floor moving furniture to cut the hole. So now I'm out $3,500 to Blanton for the kitchen sink fix, PLUS the cost to fix my drywall and floor. I reached out to Blanton twice to discuss this; they have not responded in nearly a month. I've learned my painful lesson and I will definitely never call them again.

I originally thought I was calling AB & Sons, only to find out it was bought out by Blanton. I had problems with them in the past, but it was a Sunday and I needed the leak fixed. They sent a young inexperienced kid to my house. I gave him my best guess that the water was coming from a spout on the side of the house. He then checked out the spout and decided that was the issue. He made two holes in my utility closet, said he saw the leak but then he didn't. Then he made a hole where the wall was completely dry in the finished part of the basement. Obviously it was dry the issue wasn't there. Then he said the bad news was that he would have to go upstairs and cut a hole in my living room. I found it amusing that he thought I would let him do that after destroying my man-cave wall. I got him to stop, he said fine, the bill was $120 for the 2 hours he needlessly punched holes in my walls and that would be deducted in the future from his $850 some estimate when the work was done. I paid him half, he took it and said his boss would constantly be calling me for the rest. He was totally wrong. An hour later I was able to get an older, experienced plumber who found the problem in 5 minutes. He checked the spout said the pressure was too strong for a leak. Went into the closet, cut a little more ceiling and found the water hose to the fridge leaking. Repaired in less than 10 minutes for $185. His motto was "follow the moisture." Simple. I asked Blanton for $300 to repair my finished basement wall and I would fix the closet which is where the fix was actually performed myself. They admitted their incompetence by refunding the $60, but also showed their cynical attitude by refusing to take responsibility for the finished wall. They also attempted an underhanded ploy by writing on the back of the check that its acceptance cleared them of all wrong doing. They tried to buy off a sum of $300 for nothing, because I gave them $60. The supposed manager I was working with Matt, is very weak and obviously not too bright by sending me a check that proves he feels guilt by putting the disclaimer on the back. He does not have authority for reimbursements. He also openly disrespects his staff, Jen and Carroll by ignoring to return customer phone calls, This causes the customer to repeatedly call them.

It was quick and easy to get an appointment. They came fairly quickly. It was emergency service so they charged me extra which is fair. It turned out that the alarm was false. They closed the lid and charged me full amount and left. 9 months later we started to get bad smells in that area. It was not too bad and we did not understood first that the problem was with the ejector pump area. It got very bad later on and I called them back to check out the smell. They said it is from ejector pump. When I said it was them who opened and then the resealed the cover, they verified the time of the prior work and said that was more than 12 months ago so they can not fix it for free. Well then I told them that I can not give any of my business to them (ever) because I care about companies who are behind their work and have integrity. Even then they were perfectly fine to leave my place without fixing. Also I should mention that they installed sump pump battery system in my and my neighbors house. Those projects were all procured by me for all the houses. They treated me like this after I gave them more than $5,000 of prior business.

For a family relative J Blanton Plumbing charged over $4,530 for a 40 gallon water heater replacement. The Owner, did not get a competitive bid. The installation was easy meaning good access. I obtained bids from Lowe's and other contractors. Lowe's quoted $1,393.13. When I told the Lowe's plumbing representative about the J Blanton price, he was shocked. Jordan Blanton did not give a good response after I sent him the Lowe's quote. J Blanton Plumbing ripped her off.

"Mr. [Member Name Removed], I want to put in writing what I said during our phone call. As I stated previously, being a father myself, I would also question my child's decision and then follow up with any questions I had with the service provider. Our policy is to provide to client with options based on what our trained technicians determine is their issue. Each task has 4-5 options, ranging from a quick, less expensive repair to a extensive, pricier repair/replacement. The options are given and the homeowner chooses which one best suits them financially and for their future needs. Our company is licensed and insured and our technicians are on our payroll-(not subcontractors), trained, background checked professionals who are available around the clock, 365 days per year. Our company provides and stands behind our warranties. All of these things listed are provided to be a benefit to our clientele. I hope this answers any and all questions you have and can in turn be the beginning of a lasting work relationship. Thank you, Jack Blanton Jr."

I called these guys after hearing exceptional things about them on yelp and long story short I got fleeced. I had an old flood control system that finally conked out on us and I wanted an estimate on replacing it. This company charges $75 for estimates, and I accept that practice on the whole. Two plumbers came out and proceeded to investigate our old pump. The main plumber had no real idea what the system was and proceeded to take apart the access panels to investigate. At this point it became apparent that there was water backing up from the sewer line and there was perhaps a clog. Now I get that they were doing more than an inspection at this time, but it would have been professional to basically tell me that they would have to start charging me for what they were doing. He never asked me if they could commence with the work, he just started doing things without my approval. I would have been happy to pay for their services, provided they were discussed openly, but that never happened with these guys. They proceeded to shop vac water from the line, and then they routed it out pulling out an old tree root that was part of the clog. After all was said and done I asked the plumber what I owed him and he said without a blink of an eye $1000! I was incredulous, wondering why it would cost so much given that a standard sewer routing costs on average $300. He immediately said "I can go down to $500." When someone is willing to cut their pricing in half at the drop of a hat you know they're no good. He than tried to pressure me into accepting a proposal that wouldn't have even gotten me a new pump, but just a back flow valve that I would have had to maintained every year for too much money. I found multiple plumbers after these guys who basically restored my faith in humanity. Go with American Vintage Home if you need a professional.

We are commercial, a restaurant. Let me say upfront that they are an acceptable plumber. I think they are or aspire to be a large plumbing outfit, so you might get different people on different days. Sometimes they are quite young who give questionable advice. Replace something that doesn't need replacing. My beef, though, with this company is that they are clearly following some modern model of maximizing revenue, so they are very expensive. As you read their reviews, you'll see that they won't give estimates over the phone. Imo, that's because you won't use them if they do. Once they are at your place, and the water is leaking, you are faced with the choice of them or calling another plumber and waiting more hours . . . . If they were above board, they would at least tell you their implicit hourly rate, and their travel charge to your site. I roughly calculate their hourly rate at $300-400 per hour, which they are not going to tell you over the phone. Two examples. We had drains backing up on the 4th of July. Ok, we know we are going pay. And kudos to them for answering the phone. So they warn that there is a $159 travel charge because it's the 4th. That is absolutely fine. What they don't tell you is that they are also going to nail you on the work. For ~30 minute visit, $1,000+. This is a ~$300 charge from a rooter on any other day. Second, another time, we have a ceiling leak. When they arrive and check it out, they say $475 which I ok. They then present a blank tablet screen with a big signature box which I sign. Later, after this dispute, they send me an contract copy showing I have signed off on ~$900. Sleazy. That's for ~2.5 hour visit, during which they didn't correctly diagnose the problem. Turns out the a/c unit in the ceiling is throwing off water. The plumber at the end of the visit says that he wants to have his hvac guys look at it. I say ok. When they come, they quote $450. What are you going to do? I'm gone by this time but my GM says ok. When done, they present a bill for an additional $900. Double because there are 2 a/c units in the ceiling, which they didn't bring up. What did they do? Basically replace the filters. Admittedly, they aren't easy to access, but they were there for ~2 hours. So, all totaled , ~$2,000 for 4-5 hours of work. Minimal supplies. Do the math. Avoid this company in favor of a plumber where you are dealing with one guy/gal who is upfront about how they charge. Blanton's needs to face up to whether they want to rake customers for one or two times before they drop them, or whether they want to develop repeat, loyal customers.
Response from J. Blanton Plumbing
"Your post is pathetic. You have had multiple plumbers over the years, and can't seem to find the perfect one. You have multiple restaurants with issues that need maintenance and every time you call us we solve your issues. Now do the math accounting for 2 men on the truck. Shame on you for expecting our customer service reps who answer the phone to accurately quote you a price. Do you have your bus boy make entrees? I have been to both of your establishments multiple times to eat with family, staff and vendors. Never perfect. However, never have I taken the podium to call you out. You have called us numerous times. To many times to count. And every single time you do, it is a monetary issue. Your food, your drinks and your deserts are all very expensive. But hey. I get it. You are in the high rent district. They are your costs of doing business. I hope you never call us again. And you will never see another visit from us, or most likely our 35 employees once I share this review with them. Low class and shameful. But hey, I get it. By the way. You forgot to mention, that YOUR general manager mis understood the charge was 450$ each. Because of the misunderstanding- we waived one charge. So, you received two for one. If you are going to babble, at least be honest. Jack Blanton"

I have used J Blanton for several years. They are very professional and have been very good to me. Our furnace stopped working. A specific part was broken, and it would have been a $1500 repair. Seeing as it was a 15 year old furnace, they advised just to get a newer one. They even called me to discuss this as I had originally misunderstood the situation and was going to go with the repair instead of replacement. They called to discuss further as the replacement was the smarter choice, so they wanted to make sure I fully understood the situation. I appreciate that! The new furnace is in and works well (the few times we have used it thus far). Also, they helped in selection of a new efficient unit.

When I called and asked for a bid they told me there would be a $79 charge for them to even provide a bid. This should have been my first and last warning that I shouldn't have attempted to do business with them. No one charges to give a bid. Nonetheless, I agreed and they came out to write up a bid. The person that came seemed to be knowledgeable and professional and also agreed to write up a bid for work unrelated to the lead service line removal that I was shopping to other contractors. Ultimately, I was charged $79 for a bid they never provided despite my repeated calls in to determine where it is. They charged me for a service they didn't even bother to attempt to provide. In effect, they stole $79.

I am a landlord and have used J Blanton in the past. IN the beginning when they were small their customer service was amazing. I used them for a plumbing issue in my bathroom. Over the last year I've rented out a place in Chicago and our tenants needed someone to replace a blade I n the garbage disposal. J Blanton told my renters the entire unit needed to be replaced and they were the only ones that could replace it since they originally installed the unit. That part is not true, J Blanton never installed our garbage disposal and we never had any type of agreement or loyalty for using them at all. They tried to convince my tenants it had to be done right away or they couldn't fix it for another few weeks. Granted my tenants never should have made any decisions without our approval there were J Blanton stickers all over our appliances so assumed they were our 1st choice. J Blanton not only mislead our tenants but lied about having a previous agreement with us about being the sole contractor to do work on our garbage disposal. This isn't the first time we've had issues with them. We had a water heater issue way back in the day and they charged us $2200 for a unit I found out was $1400. I called to try and work something out with the owner or notify him of this and I was told there was nothing we could do and the owner was not going to call me back. Needless to say we will not be using these guys anymore. They over charge and have lost the customer service part of the business.

They thoroughly diagnosed the problem before doing any work. They understand exactly what's going on through equipment use of pressurized smoke, cameras and really just overall experience in handling sewer matters. I also had a rat problem that was connected to this, so they tailored a solution that covered all these issues. They can handle it and know how to address the situation without extra expenses. Everything is done to code and part of the issue was that the previous owners had done some sewer work that was not to code and that caused most of the problems associated with that repair. I really liked their professionalism and response. Their entire crew was very knowledgeable and very friendly and able to answer a lot of questions. They spent a lot of time, at the beginning, to diagnose the problem. That for me sets them apart from other companies. Other companies wanted to come in and just digging up and jack hammering up the floor without really knowing what the problem was. The workers cleaned up after themselves. I got a follow up calls from the office to make sure everything was working properly. I thought they did a great job all around.

Plumbers Chris and Haley were very pleasant and very diligent. They explained what they intended to do and why, provided transparent pricing, and they executed their plan. They cleaned up carefully after the work. The drains and sprayer they re-piped and repaired seem much improved. So far, so good!

Except for arriving a little after the designated window service was excellent. Tony was professional and called me as soon as he had an estimate ready, sought my approval and provided the service. He also noted that the bathroom faucet was leaking and should be replaced soon. Since he was already there I asked if he could go ahead and take care of which he did. I am very happy with the appearance of the faucet, the promptness of getting it fixed and the price. I highly recommend this plumber.

Not all that well. First, the cost was much higher than other quotes I received. Since I don't live in the place, I had a limited time to meet there. The gentlemen (two of them) were punctual so that was good. The problem was that the quote was high pressure and "I'll do it now for a premium". That's fine, but customers don't like negotiating in front of something broken in their residence. Moreover, they had a hard time installing the hose and it leaked (yes, they blamed a faulty replacement hose I had purchased, and they made me acknowledge as a CYA) but based on the total interaction I have some doubts. The biggest problem I have was the disparity on his quote for a new faucet altogether. His quote was about $550. I awarded that bid to a contractor that charged less than half that AND performed extra services. I wasted $220 on this visit so I can't recommend this vendor.

Outstanding! Tony was able to come to the condo within the hour. He had the missing part and explained what he needed to do and the charges before the work was started. He replaced the valve in quick order (allowing the water to be turned on in the condo) and when he was done, he further clarified what needed to be done to replace the trim kit and provided some options to reduce the overall cost by finding us replacement parts on line. In the end, he saved us an additional $160 by sending us to Home Depot for the new part.
