For 23 years, our three boys grew up sharing a bathroom. After all this time, the bathroom desperately needed renovation. JJ Brewer & Associates transformed a sow's ear into a silk purse. Our project included replacing the bathtub area with a full walk-in tiled shower, retiling the floor, removing a wall and replacing much of the existing wall, repainting, and replacing the cabinets and fixtures. In all, the project took about 2 months. They did a fantastic job. I would definitely hire them again for my next project. They were courteous and professional. We discussed everything, and they provided me with options that I had not thought of. If you are looking for a company for your next renovation project, I can highly recommend JJ Brewer & Associates.

Overall the total project went really well. We had several parts to the kitchen remodel. Jon’s crew assessed extent of a water leak, which had damaged existing cabinetry and flooring. They recommended a plan of action along with a timeline and repair costs. The work progressed in a timely fashion. Jon’s crew were professional, did not smoke in the house and cleaned up their work area. We were able to find additional, closely matching cabinetry so we were able to improve the layout of the kitchen and add features we wanted like a new pantry and a swing-up shelf for my stand mixer, new countertops, backsplash and dishwasher. We love the functionality and look of our new kitchen.

We were in Birmingham while J. Brewer and Assocs. redid our condo in Chattanooga. We were quite pleased. The price was fare without too many extras and the time frame was accurate. They were easy to communicate with and let kept us up on the project from afar. I think what speaks volumes is our neighbor who lives in the condominium next door and who was home most days as the work was being done, decided to use them to remodel her unit. She was the day in day out eyes of our project and obviously liked the work and the workers. We would recommend J. Brewer and Assocs.

J. Brewer and Associates were amazing to work with. They were very professional. They understood my concerns on timing and planning. We found some unexpected situations while we were doing the work and were able to work those into the project plan, including my need to make financing arrangements for the new work. There was never any hesitation about making sure that I was 100% happy with all the work being done.

Really well. Billy Stockwell, who was in charge, was great. He was professional and easy to work with. He supervised several different crews from project start to finish and was onsite frequently. The crews and painter were also professional and thorough despite working outside in miserable weather. Over all we are thrilled with the final product. The project went over by a couple of months, but mostly I believe that was due to unforeseen circumstances requiring changes to the original plan. My husband and I highly recommend this company.

We purchased the sink, medicine cabinet, toilet, tile, etc. and J. Brewer & Assoc. did all the work. Spencer Lyman was the project manager on the remodeling and he was easy to work with. He responded quickly to any text or phone call we made. All the workers were polite and, generally, cleaned up things well at the end of the work day. My husband designed the layout and if the workers thought something might not be exactly what we wanted they would inquire about it. Their suggestions worked well for us. The bath was demolished to the studs. When this was done they discovered the floor was not exactly level so they did some extra work to get that corrected - with a change order. We were very pleased with the tile work and all the rest of the work done in that bath. This was a very dated 1958 bath with pink and black tile and it is now an updated, modern bath. It did take longer than we expected to get the work done - about eight weeks - but overall we were pleased with the work and would hire them again. Another thing I appreciated was that I told Spencer that I am sensitive to smoke and requested that no workers smoke on our property. They all honored my request.

Best decision I could have made. I was very pleased with the final product, and Jon kept me informed of the work that was being done throughout the process...and alerted me in advance of any issues that arose. I would definitely use J. Brewer and Associates again. And I would recommend them to my family and friends.

Work went very well. I made some changes as we went and they were happy to adjust the plans. Very professional group. I work at home and they planned their schedule around mine. Billy kept me informed each day about the work that would take place. I would recommend this company and use them again!

Very well.

The project manager, David Collier, showed up on time and detailed what was to be done with what they could see. The caveat being until they dug out the posts they would not know everything. All three posts the original builder snuck by code by saying they supported the enclosed porch. The 'porch' was really just an in-line sun/dinning room on the back of our house, part of our home and not truly a separate porch at all. The builder just sunk the 6x6's into the ground, no support no concrete, nothing. Over six years, water run off, weather in general and just being buried in the dirt rotted the posts (to various degrees, one almost all the way through).

The J Brewer crew (two workers) came out, and with only about a foot-and-a-half of crawl space and working on the last post under the back deck, dug out the posts. Supporting the back wall with multiple jacks, they hand dug with what I equated to gardening trowels 2' deep 3' wide holes, pored them full of concrete, then formed up about 6'in of the concrete above the ground line. Then cut new 6x6's and bolted them to the concrete and under the house.

Final price was the initial quoted price, no hidden fees or jacking it up on the back end. And they did it in two-days time. Cleaned up after and answered all my questions along the way professionally and courteously.

The price was worth it for the job they did, and seeing them work in that small a space, hats off to a job well done.

I contacted J Brewer to to get a competitive bid on a bathroom remodel. A representative came out and reviewed the project. I provided drawings and description of the work to be done. After three weeks the representative said he would be looking at the project after lunch and provide a quote. A couple hours after lunch I received a quote with a price spread of over 50% . The quote was somewhere between 23k and 35k. If I wanted a accurate price I would need to pay $250. So they wanted me to pay $ 250 to find out if they where possibly 10k over other highly rate contractors in the area. All of the other Angie list recommended contractors provided accurate and timely quotes. If they had explained to me that if I wanted a price quote that was less than +/- 50% it was $250 dollars I would of stuck with the A rated contractors that provide accurate quotes for free.
Response from J Brewer and Associates
"We appreciate this customers position on free estimates. However, it was made known to him why we do that. Essentially it is and has been our desire to be very thorough with our estimates so customers are aware of true costs and are thoroughly informed with a detailed scope of work. We also communicated a delay in getting our estimate out due to an accelerated, different project completion we were not informed of when we first gave an expected estimate date. The customer communicated he was fine with that. We additionally expressed our concern that if we were delaying his getting estimates and he had someone he was happy with, we understood him wanting to move along with them. We also made it clear we would provide a range of cost first for his review. The reason was that even though we received plans and a written description of the work we didn't receive clear info on all the product being used. Different products often require different labor/material costs. This being a bath remodel with a steam shower we really wanted to be thorough. We have torn out a few of these over the years that weren't installed correctly. This is a job to be entered into with a good understanding of how all the parts work together and discuss the product being used. It appears from the number listed above we were in his range with our preliminary numbers. Lastly it is very important that customers have a clear understanding of the work being done, the details of what is involved and that the contractor they use has a great track record for doing that work. If price is the dominate concern, it can always be cheaper. As many of us have experienced cheaper isn't always better and often not as good. Since we guarantee our workmanship for 3 years we are a good fit for customers concerned with doing a remodel once and done. We aren't a fit for everyone and we know that. We are however, thorough with our estimates and our work. Both of which take time. We appreciate being contacted to review this project and as always wish this customer well."

It took about 1 month for job completion. In this time frame, we had some cold days (January), so the work was not continuous. His team did a daily clean up, so when they left for the day, there was no debris or dust hanging around. The quality of the work was very outstanding. J Brewer was very thorough when assessing our leaking problem...more so than any other contractor we had at the house. We were in constant contact with J Brewer, so we knew exactly when his team would show up or when they wouldn't; this basically never happens when dealing with 99% of contractors. We are very pleased with the job, and most importantly, our window isn't leaking!
They were very honest. They were able to fix a leaking drain pipe for a fraction of the cost that another provider had quoted us.
