We used Alex for an inspection after we had already purchased our house. He was very thorough and personable. He gave us a very detailed report, which included many actionable items to improve our new house. He was very knowledgable. It was money well-spent to get to know our new house and to ensure that we met all the safety requirements to feel comfortable living there with our family. I predict that the knowledge that he transferred to us will end up saving us money when we meet with contractors. Thank you!

On a day with torrential downpours, Alex came early and gave us a comprehensive home inspection of our newly bought house. He invited us to come with him as he inspected every detail about the house that he could. He was very patient with our numerous questions regarding repairs and even gave advice regarding our ideas for future renovations. He was very conscientious about being tidy and clean while in our house. Alex didn't mind being out in the rain, under the crawl space or in our unfinished attic, checking every nuance of the house. His report was done promptly and looked fabulous with pictures and explanations and recommendations. (A sample report can be seen on his company website.) Alex was an absolute professional and a nice guy to chat about your home. We highly recommend him!

The inspection helped us truly understand what challenges our antique home may have and allowed us to make an informed decision. We really appreciated the time they spent explaining everything in the house and pointing out some of the great historic features and the areas we can anticipate needing to work on.The inspection was worth every penny. We highly recommend this inspector especially if you have an older home.

Alex is amazing. He arrived early, spent 3.5 hours on property, and produced an 65 page report (pdf) with issues and photos the same day. Has a large suite of equipment including combustion gas detectors. He also has no fear: he squeezed into a small opening to inspect a moldy crawlspace, crawled around in a tiny eaves space, and got sprayed with muddy water testing a broken sump pump. He is happy to follow up with suggestions on how to fix issues. We've used him twice over the course of ten years, first on new construction (2008) and then on an 80 year old house (2017). On the new construction he correctly predicted two issues that we had to repair many years later. Highly recommended.

We hired Alex back in March to do our home inspection and we're very pleased with his service. We arrived a little early and he was already on site, performing some inspections on the outside of the house. He was very thorough and provided a detailed list of issued that he found, indicating the severity of each item and which we could access online. After he left, both our realtor and the seller's realtor commented on how thorough he was. He also took the time to explain everything he found to us as well as provide additional information about things like the furnace, hot water heater, etc. He even gave us some advice on some home projects we mentioned we were planning on doing that weren't related to the inspection. I had several home inspectors that I was trying to choose from and I'm so glad I went with Alex. Also, the convenience of being able to pay ahead of time with a credit card was a nice bonus. One recommendation would be to pay the extra money to have the radon testing done. The levels in the house we were buying were extremely high and because we did the test, we were able to get the sellers to install a radon mitigation system and have the levels retested at no cost to us before closing.

Alex showed up early and got to work right away. He did a very thorough job inspecting the entire exterior of the house as well as the interior, pointing out numerous items that need attention and making sure that we understood what was urgent, and what was still an issue but not urgent. He also gave us a really good understanding of the upkeep of our house, and what expenses we'd probably have in the next few years. Very thorough, professional, and friendly.

I could not be more satisfied or impressed by JBS Home Inspection. Their service pre- and post-inspection was impeccable. I paid for the service online and obtained an appointment quickly. Alex led a friendly team of 2 who arrived early and spent several hours going over every inch of the house. They patiently explained to me how each system in the house worked (I am a first-time homebuyer) and never seemed condescending or irritated with my questions. They were thorough but also fair, balanced in their assessment. I received within hours a 60+-page report filled with observations, photos, recommendations. I bought the property despite some important work that needs to be done because I know exactly what that work is. Their inspection gave me the information I needed to make an informed decision about the purchase and the confidence to jump in and become a homeowner. I recommended their services whole-heartedly.

When we arrived for our home inspection Alex and his partner were out thoroughly inspecting the exterior of the home. They were very thorough and found things that a less trained eye would have missed - such as doubling up of roofing layers. Alex was very friendly and he explained many of his findings in plain terms that both my wife and I could understand. Booking an appointment was very easy and quick. Great job!

Alex and his partner were fantastic, and we highly recommend his services when a top notch home inspection is required.  Alex started with a careful inspection of the roofs, including climbing on the various roof pitches and inspecting the flashing along the roof edges and around the chimney.  Many inspectors no longer perform this service, and it helped us identify some small areas in need of repair. <br> <br>He and his partner performed a full outdoor inspection of the property, then moved inside.  Inside, Alex ensured he checked every crawl space, and fought his way into an extremely tight cape-cod attic that is additionally constrained by several skylights. <br> <br>Throughout, Alex was thorough but not alarmist.  There were several areas that he identified as possibly concerning, then after careful inspection realized they were fine.  I very much appreciate this attention to detail, as I have worked with past home inspectors for whom every small plumbing or electrical oddity seemed a major catastrophe.  Old homes usually have some issues, and Alex was great about helping us identify and understand the ones specific to our new home. <br> <br>My wife and I are both engineers, and pretty handy around the house.  A professional like Alex was exactly right for us, to fill in the gaps in our knowledge, and ensure a full and systematic inspection of the home.  His final report was detailed, included photos, and captured the majority of what we discussed in person. <br> <br>We highly recommend Alex, and even our seller's agent took his card to recommend him to her future clients as well! <br> <br>In addition to the base home inspection, Alex performed a Radon test under a Angie's List discount that was then available. <br>

We were able to schedule an appointment with Alex the same week we called and he arrived on time accompanied by the person he is training. They were very professional and warm. He started inspecting the exterior and then garage, basement, and roof and then interior floor by floor.  The majority of his time was spent in the basement in dealing with the sub basement, all wiring, water heaters, etc. He was meticulous in opening every door and crawlspace. At one point crawling hands and knees with face mask and flashlights in a very narrow space to go through out the base of the house. He made note of everything from missing handles and duct taped pipes to the water heaters and HVAC systems that were almost fully depreciated. He and his assistant inspected every window and window ledge for rot, broken glass. Truly there was not a thing that he and his assistant did not explore and make note of.  The space is very large at 5300 sq feet so we were there most of the day with a break for lunch.  <br /> Throughout the day Alex made a point of making sure that my boyfriend and I both knew what he was finding and that we understood the implications however major or minor. I was taking my own notes as at prior home inspections I found that the report I received later often left things out.  Alex wrote up his report that evening and we received it same day electronically. The report was incredibly detailed in description and pictures, rating each issue as to priority and severity.  I compared to my notes and there was nothing missing - again very impressive considering the magnitude of the project. <br /> I highly recommend Alex for any home buyer.  Both brokers were present and commented as well on how impressed they were and requested his cards to give out to their other clients.  <br /> Note on the price that this is higher than a typical home inspection would cost due to the magnitude of the space, the location, and issues. <br />

Alex inspected our newly constructed condo and the building.  He was very prompt and thorough.  He provided a report in pdf format a couple of hours after completing the inspection.  The report included a separate punchlist that we could easily supply to the builder. <br /> We actually used Alex 3 times.  The first time was at our old condo after another company used by the buyer came up with CYA results on the roof needing repair.  We retained Alex in an attempt to get a more realistic assessment.  We were highly pleased with the results and retained him for the new place. <br /> As appears to be the case with a lot of new constructions, the builder was overly optimistic on meeting his deadlines.  When we had Alex inspect the first time, everything was supposed to be done but it wasn't.  Alex went with the flow and did what he could.  When the remaining work was complete, Alex came back to inspect the rest of the work.  He came up with things I would never have thought of -- that's the reason anyone should have an inspection even for new construction. <br />

Alex arrived on time on the day of the inspection.  We began with the exterior of the house and the roof, where he pointed out issues that needed to be addressed.  During the inspection he would state if the item was a lower or higher priority repair and if higher, what the ramifications would be on the house if not made.  He generally categorized repairs as either necessary or a face lift; this provided good perspective for me  We then inspected the foundation and basement of the house following the same guidelines.  Alex inspected the electrical, heating and plumbing systems and provided feedback on their current condition and if an immediate repair was not required he provided the approximate life of the system so I would know when I could expect to make repairs or replacements, which was extremely helpful for future budgeting.  We went through each floor of the house and he continued to provide the same useful information.  In addition to pointing out what needed to be repaired Alex also provided useful information on the type of professional I could hire to get the various jobs done.  He noted when prior work done in the house was done well so I might leverage those professionals again; and on the flip side, pointed out work that wasn't done as well and why.  <br /> At the end of the walk through he recapped the most pressing exterior and interior issues I should focus on in the immediate term and those that could afford to wait.  While he confirmed one pressing issue I was already aware of, he also uncovered several other issues -- some large and some small -- I wasn't aware of.  If fact, only an inspector, who focuses on the entire house, would likely have uncovered these other issues.  He was a pleasure to meet and work with and well worth his fee.  I would hire him again as well as refer him to others. <br />

Alex was awesome. Very easy and quick to schedule, given our need for a tight turnaround. He arrived early, spent 3 hours on the inspection, and got us a detailed and thorough report the next morning. Very knowledgeable about old homes- this one was over 300 years. Highly recommended

Alex was able to fit us into his schedule after I had spoken with 5 other home inspectors who did not have openings.  He was on time and very thoughtful and complete.  He took many photos and included them in his written report.  He also answered every question we had during the 3+ hours he took to inspect the home. <br />

I recently used JBS inspections to come do an inspection of a home my husband and I are purchasing. We needed the inspection done within a few days, and although he was very busy Alex personally took my call and made time for our inspection. When we explained we needed to have the radon results right away due to the time-sensitive nature the sale, Alex went and dropped off the radon kit three days in advance of the inspection so we would have the results ready that day. Alex was very thorough, spending nearly 3 hours going over each floor of the house. I was particularly concerned about the state of the foundation and basement, and Alex spent a LOT of time in there pointing out things that should be fixed, what is a safety concern and what is not. His patience and friendliness during the whole process was an added bonus. He also presented me with a book on how to take care of our home at the end as well as emailed me a 90 page document that detailed what he found in the inspection. This inspection was so worth it - we presented some of the findings to the seller and we were able to negotiate down on price in order to afford to make repairs after we move in. It went great.  Alex was on time and SO VERY thorough.  I had never been through a home inspection before so I did not know until afterwards that he was more thorough than the average inspector.   The house was quite old and in need of some repair, so I really appreciated his expert opinion on all of the things I knew needed repair, as well as many things I was not aware of.  He even detected a gas leak in the basement (which the sellers had to fix ASAP).  I received a very well documented 70 page report with pictures very promptly after the visit.  I highly recommend using JBS Inspections <br />

It went very well, I was contacted promptly to set up an appointment and provided agreements to review and sign through email. I was given text reminder of our appointment. I like email and text communication.  I was able to get an appointment within two days of contacting him--(winter might be a slower time and other times of the year might be busier for him). .Alex  was at my house early and had already started looking at the roof before I got there. When he came into the house, he encouraged me to follow him around and ask questions. Alex is very personable. He explained things  in a very down to earth, matter of fact way. I have always rented and have never needed to know a lot about the inner-workings of a structure. As a female, I greatly appreciated that there was no condescending "man-splaining"  from Alex.. He answered all my questions and addressed my concerns.  He spent about three hours and gave me a lot of useful information verbally and then provided me with a detailed report (that included numerous photos he had taken) really quickly - later that evening!.  Alex gave me the information that helped me make a decisions about the house I went with Alex because of good ratings on Angie's List and i  was not disappointed. I felt his fee was quite reasonable given his professionalism and his being very user friendly and comprehensive. As noted above, the radon test was free because i booked through Angie's List which was a nice bonus as radon is a concern of mine.  i would not hesitate to use Alex again or recommend him. I will probably have him come back when the snow melts so he can look at some things that he could not have possibly looked at with so much snow on the ground. <br />
