JB is outstanding. John explained the job and advised us. He even said we could repair the 2 areas without re-doing the whole floor! I loved his approach but we decided to refinish it entirely for other reasons. The quality of the workmanship was impressive. The coloring matched perfectly. The dust was minimal. The furniture was moved and replaced w/o damage. Everything was done on schedule. This was our third or fourth job as we update our older home and each time we are more impressed with the work.

We worked with JB?s Wood Floor Maintenance Inc. after moving in to our first house more than 2 decades ago and continue to work with John and team in our current home. They refinished the wood floors on the second floor, the staircase and kitchen. They coordinated with our current remodeling schedule, were clear about the refinishing process, prevented dust control by sealing off doors to adjoining rooms with plastic, and even provided a floor cleaning kit after the work was completed. The floors look great and we?ll continue to support this local business with future projects.

John repaired and refinished our kitchen floor 23 years ago after a renovation. The finish had worn out in high traffic areas, and do we rehired him to redo our floors while we were out of town. They did the work in 4 days, and we returned to a beautiful new floor and minimal dust. We’re vey pleased with the results. Highly recommend them to anyone.

Aware that the oak floors in our dining and living rooms needed care, I searched Angie’s List for specialists. The first to contact me (very quickly, at that) was John of JB’s Wood Floor Maintenance Inc. His expertise was apparent in answering my questions. Besides inquiries via text messages, I posted a series of pictures about how his firm would treat problem areas and whether he thought our floors could be buffed and resurfaced, without sanding. He also referred me to the company’s web site, which reinforced the image of his firm’s professionalism and expertise. When John visited our house to evaluate the floors and render a bid, he proved personable and reinforced my confidence in him. Once I had accepted his bid, he was quickly in touch to schedule service. He and his associate began working around 8:30 a.m. and, as promised, finished the job by noon. When we checked the floor after it had dried, we were very pleased with evenness of color and the tone of the finish. Beautiful!

John was great to work with and get the job started. Working on the phone and in person he was very helpful. After we agreed on what needed to be completed the work was completed on time. The professional that came out to do the work reviewed with me first and he was very respectful and professional. We had some challenges and with his experience and my woodworking knowledge we quickly came to a decision and all turned out great. We needed to deal with some asbestos flooring. After contacting John he was able to suggest a couple options and their pros and cons. A very knowledgeable contractor with our best interests at heart. He let us know the costs associated with each choice. If only the health care industry were this transparent! He was very punctual and responsive. It’s so nice having another room in the house. JB and crew recently removed carpet and refinished our hardwood floors and staircases and I am very impressed by the quality of the work. The team has a lot of years of experience, the work was clean with great attention to detail, and communication was superb throughout. My floors look fantastic! I also appreciated their knowledge on materials and recommendations, and how to appropriately care for wood floors. These guys are wood floor experts, would hire again.

Highly recommend JB’s to anyone looking to upgrade their flooring! The level of experience, craftsmanship, and passion for their work is remarkable. The bid process was seamless and all the options/details of the project were well explained ahead of time. Ultimately our decision was to use the water based system over traditional oil based polyurethane for the overall appearance and drying characteristics. Half down was due when the materials were dropped off. The craftsmen did a great job with prep, install, sanding, dust control, and finish. There was no noticeable odor or smell. The job was completed ahead of schedule on our tight timeline. Final payment of the second half was due upon job completion. There were no hidden costs or change orders. Service, communication, pricing and overall experience was 5 star.

I contacted JB's Wood Floor Maintenance because of the great reviews and their A+ BBB rating. John was very responsive to my initial inquiry. He explained his process and said that he uses a water-based finish. Since I wanted to do a buff and re-coat, he recommended a matte finish. John was able to accommodate my tight schedule and arrived on time. The results were fantastic! No fumes and my floors look almost new without the expense of a complete refinish. I highly recommend John and his company.

He talked us through everything we could ever need to know in order to make our floors looking the best they could. They set us up with the best option for restoring our floors, answering both what we wanted and what would keep our floors looking great for years to come. Everything went well. This was the 2nd time I utilized JB’s and I’ve been pleased with the quality of work and the value both times. John was helpful in choosing whether to go with no stain, a natural stain, or something darker. We ended up going with a natural stain and we have been pleased with the results.

John contacted us right after I put the request in. He came in a couple of days and spent more than an hour at our home explaining our options. His professionalism and attention to detail was amazing. He explained the difference between the oil/water system vs. the traditional oil based polyurethane. We went with the oil/water system for two reasons; it doesn't yellow like the oil based polyurethane and the smell is very faint. John gave us a quote for sanding, finish and sealer. He provided detailed notes in the quote to be sure we were clear. He also included the estimate for stain, should we decide to stain the floors that had the urine stains. He even gave an estimate of gravity floors should the urine-stained floors be un-restorable. The guys were professional and VERY diligent in their work. One of the main reasons we chose JB's is it is independently owned, and there would be the same 3 people each day. John takes pride in his company and the workmanship shows that.

wood floor sanding and refinishing went great ! Very professional and friendly. The mess was kept to a minimum and he provided good advice on the maintenance of the floors.

After getting several estimates for our kitchen hardwood floor repair, I met with John with JB’s Wood Floor Maintenance. Where other contractors spent very little time going over the specifics of our job, John spent nearly an hour going over everything. John identified the wood type and grade, and even came back with samples to verify the repair would match seamlessly with the existing flooring (which it did). We discussed the finish options and decided to use combination of waterborne finishes to allow the floor to turn slightly amber, but not nearly as much as the original oil-based finish. Using waterborne finish was the right choice, especially with its low odor. His team removed the damaged flooring, installed new flooring where needed, and covered the entire first floor cabinets and doorways (we have an open floorplan, and they did a great job blocking it off – including creating a wall in our vaulted living room to minimize dust). They were very attentive to keeping the dust to a minimum, and to clean up on a daily basis. Every step of the way they were on time, and on schedule. The finished project looks great. John and his team did a great job and I’d highly recommend them.

I love my floors!! I'm so happy with the job JB's did. John explained the difference between oil and water based finishes.....which lead me to go with their water based system. The crew was fast, efficient, very professional and great to work with. When it came down to choosing a color, I went to the house at the time they specified, we tested out a few color mixtures on the floor until we got the right one. The job was done in the time they specified and I was amazed with their clean up of the house. Again, I love my floors....and I've received many compliments on them!!

The main floor of our house had red oak hardwood flooring in some areas and carpeting in others. We contracted with JB's to refinish the existing hardwood floors (including the kitchen, where the old finish was damaged) and replace the carpeting with hardwood in the three carpeted rooms. John clearly explained the process and options to us, and we chose to use the water-based Traffic commercial finish system, rather than using the previous oil-based system, which had left us with dark, orangeish floors. We wanted a more natural look, plus we wanted to protect our high-traffic kitchen as much as possible. We were delighted with the results. The new floors are lighter and more natural looking and match the refinished flooring beautifully. I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly the finish dried and how quickly the light chemical smell disappeared. The craftsmanship and professionalism of the crew, Don and Tom, were outstanding and the work was done on schedule.

First a little background. Our home was built in 1959 and like most of the homes of that era, it has Red Oak floors. We’ve lived in our home for 31 years. The living room and part of our stairs were refinished once about 15 years ago. The remainder of our hardwood flooring had not been updated during our time in the home. Our Master Bedroom had carpeting over the past 25 years. It was removed just prior to the recent job to return the bedroom to finished hardwood. I reached out to three hardwood refinishing contractors for estimates. Each company had generally positive online reviews. One of the contractors who visited had recently refinished the floors at my next door neighbor’s home. While that particular contractor provided the lowest bid, I observed a lower level of professionalism during the bidding process. The other two contractors, including JB’s, provided a positive in-home bid experience and offered good follow-up to my questions. Of interest, JB’s bid was actually the highest overall. It was $600 above one competitor and $1,100 over the cheapest bid. While VERY rare for me to opt for the highest bid from a home improvement contractor, John’s level of professionalism, and the high preponderance of glowing customer reviews on this forum, swung the pendulum in his direction. In the grand scheme of things, the extra dollars paid were modest considering the total cost of the project. Our job was completed in two phases, a few weeks apart. Phase one involved the living room floor and two sets of stairs, including both treads and risers. (This was completed while were on vacation). Phase two involved the bedrooms and a small upstairs landing area. Given the length of time since our floors had seen attention, our existing Red Oak had darkened and yellowed a fair amount. The floors and stairs had also seen significant wear and tear over multiple decades. It was our desire to obtain a lighter and more contemporary appearance to the floors after the refinish. As a point of information, we opted for the water based, Bona Traffic HD product with a Matte sheen. John’s team completed the project right on schedule and per the agreed upon timeline. The final results were excellent overall. The floors and stairs are far lighter now, several major imperfections were repaired and the overall wood grain in the flooring is far more striking in appearance today. All in all, it was a major enhancement to the home and a good investment overall. A job well done! Thanks to John and his team. (FYI, John is scheduled to do the floors at my son’s house this month as well). If you’re pondering refinishing your floors in an occupied home, do know that it’s a major headache to relocate furniture in order to empty the floors, clear out closets, etc. This is especially true if you have a lot of “stuff.” It’s a pain, no doubt about it. The only upside is that you’re also de-cluttering at the same time. Secondly, if your project involves the refinishing of stairs, do be prepared for high dollars for this portion of the project. Stairs are apparently labor intensive and thus costly to refinish. You can save some money if you paint your risers. Next, be aware that John does mostly Matte finished floors. We had originally planned to do Satin, but were persuaded to switch to Matte upon John’s guidance. Many online sites show Satin is popular overall, although Matte is trendy these days and perhaps hides scratches and minor damage better. Finally, do heed John’s written instructions carefully about what to do, or not do, after your job is completed and absolutely adhere to recommended timelines. Be careful to lift and not drag furniture before floors are fully cured and use felt pads. We ended up with a very minor scuff line relocating a piece of very heavy living room furniture. It wasn’t a major disaster, but slightly marred an otherwise great job.

We considered 3-4 other companies but decided to go with JB due to several reasons. The primary reasons were that John was down-to-earth, thorough, and very knowledgeable from the get-go. Then, when we had our first meeting, John explained options for refinishing thoroughly and took his time, offering his expertise. We went with water-based since we wanted a more natural look, it was less odor, and it was a shorter wait time for the curing process. John explained the costs well and there were no surprises. John and his crew worked with our schedules; the two workers were early to arrive, professional and also great to work with. They did a great job at minimizing dust. Our project was finished in less than 3 days which is what we were told. Our spaces have been transformed with this refinishing!

I cant rave enough about JBs. We decided last minute to redo our main level floors before moving in and John was able to find a window of time on their schedule to make this work for us. John, Tom and Don were all great to work with. Their communication was timely, John was very thorough during our walk through and did a fantastic job explaining everything. Overall just a wonderful experience, these guys really did an amazing job restoring our floors. We had pet stains from previous owners in multiple spots throughout the floors and now you can hardly tell anything was there. I am SO glad we decided to get them done. Would definitely use again and would recommend to anyone looking to get their floors redone. The before and after pictures show the excellent job!

JB did excellent work refinishing hardwood floors in our 1913 home. We hired them in the past were also pleased with the quality of work and cost. The owner was responsive and scheduled a consult with us soon after we called. He provided detailed information on options, costs, and materials and was motivated to address concerns. We chose a water based product for environmental and health/safety reasons and asked to have a finish that would be less slippery and were pleased with the result. The team was experienced, professional, and timely in arriving for work and finishing the project. We were given information on how to best care for the floors and a floor cleaning product and furniture pads to keep the floors in top shape. We are looking forward to another floor project next year and will happily hire JB again.

John got back to me quick and was very helpful laying out a rough estimate over the phone as well as scheduling an in home estimate. During the estimate John was very thorough and I was impressed about how forthwith he was about the different options for finishes, what the prices were, and the features of each type of finish. I got onto the schedule quickly and his crew showed up at the agreed upon time. During the sanding process there was no dust that was kicked up in the other living areas. There was also no dust left after the end of the project. I originally wanted to go with a lighter finish for my floors, and his crew applied two samples on the sanded floor so I could see the difference in person. The finished product looks amazing and there wasn't a spec of dust anywhere.

From the very start, our experience with JB's was great. John talked me through the basics and gave a general estimate over the phone. He then came over and explained every detail of the refinishing process, including the products, technique, clean up, and care of the floors after the refinishing process. They had an opening within a couple of weeks and completed the job while we were out of town. Everything went according to schedule. We returned from our vacation to absolutely beautiful floors. the color and finish were exactly what we expected.
