They were great! Aaron handled flooring and Joseph handled painting. Both were extremely professional and did quality. I want to give an extra thumbs up to Aaron for coming through when it looked like the chips were down. He said he would make it happen and he was a man of his word. I had an offer on my house the next week and closed within a month. And it was due in no small part to these guys.

We hired Rick and J Co. for a basement remodel, which included tearing down old wood paneling, ceiling panels, old carpet, and adding waterproofing for about 1200 square feet of space. J. Co did a full demolition, and installed all new lighting, carpet, drywall, electrical, paint and a wall that would create a new bedroom. They installed a new closet in the added bedroom, all new custom doors, painted our laundry room floor, and even did a few odd jobs that came up along the way (repairing an old pipe, rewiring a telephone line, helping install the knob for a fireplace to name a few). Rick and his entire team were wonderful to work with. Even with delays of the major flooding that occurred throughout the city, they still managed to finish in great time and delivered a basement we are very proud of. Every detail was addressed and all guys were professional at all times! They left our space clean and beautiful. We would hire J Co. again in a heartbeat and highly recommend them to anyone else! Our before and after photos speak for themselves!!

Originally hired J Co just for replacing the vinyl in my main bath. In the end hired them to also replace my living room carpet as well. Fast, friendly, and highly knowledgeable staff. Will definitely be calling them again when I am ready to replace the flooring in my kitchen and hall later this year.

Rick Severson, J Co, was hired to remodel a small bathroom. The work began 11 weeks ago. The quality of the work was very poor. Mr. Severson admitted that his sub had done poor work. He gutted the room at that point. He then put in the shower pan and returned at a later date to install the shower door. He left the tile work, sink and toilet re-installation to another sub. As we began to use the room, we noticed problems. The glass shower door lacks the sweep at the bottom and a significant amount of water leaks onto the bathroom floor when we shower. He admits he left the sweep off the door and took it to his shop, but refuses to come back and deliver the sweep. An expert in shower door installation has said the door needs to be completely reinstalled. Pieces are missing and alterations were made that may have damaged the door. The painting is poor quality. His crew used the wrong color which does not match existing paint. They also used the wrong type of paint. The wood surfaces show deep brush lines, bumps, dried drops of paint, etc. In some places the paint is already peeling off. All wood surfaces will need to be sanded and repainted. The shower pan has deep pooling water and needs to be completely removed and reinstalled. I have called him many times to get these things corrected. He refuses to come back. He now claims he has turned the project over to the sub and has no more responsibility for it. My contract is with J Co, not the sub. Mr. Severson is responsible for making sure the project is satisfactorily completed. The sub is concerned about getting in the middle of this and doesn't want to do the extensive repairs without a contract. I am currently getting estimates on the cost of the needed repairs. My estimate at this point is that the repairs will cost between $3,000 and $4,000.
Response from Outback Construction
"But yet is still using (My), the same sub contractor on her 2nd bathroom in which had started without finishing the first one. Ms. [Member Name Removed], you should ask your new contractor to do what I have already paid him to do while he is there doing all of your other work. Yes, I have had growing pains within finding good subs as any other company, that said, that same contractor that tore out and redone your bathroom at my expense, and now is the same sub doing your 2nd bathroom, should finish what I've paid him to do in which I'm sure he will when he's done with your other bathroom so you can have a bathroom to use. Again, and yet again, I apologize for the delay with your bathroom. Thousands of projects, first complaint. Just one of those customers. Mike should, and I am sure he will, finish what he started while he is there doing your other work. He is a good sub."

Rick and his team were phenomenal to work with. They were very courteous, punctual and professional. They worked long hours and weekends to get the job done with speed and quality of craftsmanship. We also were able to change scope mid-way through the project and add a glass shower door to our bathroom. Rick also made several recommendations about how to set up things to maximize our available space which we readily incorporated into our plans. Plumbing was the only thing which Rick brought in an outside contractor for and he was someone who Rick works with on nearly every one of his jobs. All other framing, drywall, tile, electrical, brick, paint, demo and installation was done by his team. We have been very happy with their work and will certainly employ them again for future projects. I've given out his contact information to many coworkers and highly recommend J Co. Restoration and Remodeling if you are looking to do a remodel of your home.

They did an excellent job and would recommend them to anyone! Rick was great to work with and very timely. The kitchen is small and odd shaped and he was very accommodating to help us make it more functional. They removed old cabinets and appliances, repaired plaster and put in new drywall where needed. We had a mix of new custom cabinets and refinished/painted old floor to ceiling built-in cabinets. Installed new dishwasher, wall oven, cooktop, sink and countertop. Installed subway tile on entire wall and put in new flooring. Painted the entire room, doors and trim. They did exactly how I had envisioned it and did it all in a few weeks! We would hire them again and hope to use them for futures projects.

We are extremely pleased with the results, and will recommend this company to friends. Rick and Chris were very conscientious as well as the other workers, and were very accommodating when we made adjustments to the original agreement. Rick's number will be the one we call for future projects!

Our experience was wonderful! The company is a father and son who work very well together. They are both very knowledgeable!!!! The son did a beveled tile back splash for us which included a decorative strip. The decorative strip was a chevron design, which was extremely hard to get right, but I told him he was a real artist, because he was so meticulous. The result was so beautiful that I wish I could attach a picture!

We decided to keep our old cabinets but we wanted the refrigerator moved to a different wall. So they had to move cabinets and build one matching cabinet to cover the space between where the fridge had been and where they moved the pantry to in order to fill in the 10" difference. The shelves were removed from the old pantry and replaced with pull-outs. They made the pull out shelves from scratch and they are great! They then had to basically build a fake wooden cabinet around our new refrigerator to make it look like it was recessed. They also removed the old spindle molding from the top of the cabinets and replaced it with beautiful crown molding. This made our 25 year old cabinets look brand new! We also had 2 of the cabinets moved up 5 inches and moved forward about the same amount just to break up the looks of the cabinets and that turned out beautiful as well.

They removed the old Formica tile floor that we had and installed a new vinyl planking floor. We got a new microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher and gas stove and they installed all of those. They had to remove two old door facings and install new ones because the new flooring was much thinner than the previous floor so the old door facings did not come down to where the new floors were. They put down new baseboards, quarter round and transition strips for 3 doors. They replaced 8 new electrical outlets and face plates, which included 3 GFI's, because the old outlets were almond and we needed white. Several days they were both here for 11 hours. They were punctual. I really can't think of a negative thing to say about them. I told them they could use us as a reference any time!!

Rick and his son, Chris, were very professional. I was concerned about the undertaking of this remodel but after meeting with J Co. I felt at ease, in addition, I felt I had the right company for the job. They worked long hours including Sundays, trying to get this project finished for me in a timely manner and they did just that.

I don't think there were any surprises once they job was started. Rick was very observant when I showed him what I wanted done and also made some suggestions of what he thought should be done for the best turnout.

After each work day, I took notice that they took time to clean up after themselves.
