BUYER BEWARE. Jordan will give you a slick marketing presentation on his egress windows (cost: $7,000), he'll even offer a pump "at cost" ($1,000 --- which I've learned since then is actually a $79 pump) and tell you that if you get the pump you won't have any issues with flooding (but if you don't, he can't guarantee it). He's got snazzy youtube videos that show the process, and he's seemingly easy to work with -- at first. Read those contract terms carefully because they only guarantee the work for one year. And don't you know one year and three months after they finished putting in an egress window at my house, the pump AND the electrical failed. When I contacted the company about the pump/electrical failing, I was all but brushed off, and told that it was probably "just a little water tripping the GFCI". When they came to "recaulk the outlet" box, it was mentioned that there were issues with drainage in the yard, and that was the problem --- which was curious, since I was under the impression that they had completed the drainage work (I have a text and email where I asked that it be included as part of the contract). When the same thing happened a week later with the next rain, I was told the outlet (that they installed) might need to be replaced. Then finally -- the big one hit -- the flash floods came on 02 September and the pump/electrical failed, leading the window well to fill with rain water and pour into the basement. I had to run outside at 3:30am in the dark, jump in the egress window well, and one bucket at a time, empty the well until it was below the window line and stopped coming into the house. When I called and text the company, they were "too busy" dealing with other (read: newer) projects. Completely unphased and attempting to pass the blame to say "there's been a lot of rain lately", it was clear they were not trying to fix their own faulty work. I was fortunate enough that the contractor that worked on the rest of our house (NOT the egress window), was able to come to take a look at the issue. A few things he noted -- the outlet was dead, the wiring was burned out, and even if the electrical had been working, the pump was failing because it wasn't sealed off properly and small rocks had made their way into the pump. In addition, it was noted that the water being pumped out wasn't pumped out far enough away, so it was just seeping back into the ground. Every part of their work failed, and as a result, I paid $3,900 to repair the drywall/insulation/flooring/electrical in the damaged area and correct the drainage issue outside, not to mention the $1,000 I spent to buy fans, dehumidifiers, a wet vac, and replacement pump. When I contacted JDS and told them all of this, it was radio silent. I told them I would be filing a complaint with the Maryland Home Improvement Commission, the Consumer Protections group, and filing in small claims court, and still nothing. This is not how I wanted to do things, but I find it incredibly troubling that the company has failed to take responsibility for their work, so here we are. I'm glad I waited to do a review for the company so that I could make a true assessment of their work. I wish it hadn't ended this way, but perhaps others can learn from my mistake, and in the future they will spend more of their effort on standing behind their work in order to maintain their reputation.

Not professional, not interested in doing a great job. Turned over excavation to a couple of high school students. Cut into decking but did not replace/repair it to code. Left us with gaps and broken boards. I had to hire another contractor to come out and make it right.

We were very pleased with the work of the JDS team. Jordan was prompt in explaining the work entailed, providing a detailed estimate, and responding to our questions. The team started work as scheduled, was professional, courteous, and hard-working. They kept us informed at each step of the way, were able to accommodate a couple of our additional last-minute requests, and were very pleasant. Once finished, they cleaned up on the inside and outside. They honored the estimate exactly as provided. Overall, we are very happy with the work and the result, and will most definitely hire them again for future projects.

JDS is a fantastic company and a pleasure to work with. Jordan, the owner, came to my house to evaluate the job and provide an estimate. He was very detailed and honest in his assessment. He made various recommendations that substantially improved the setup of the systems, including some that helped reduce costs. A few days before the job was to start, I had to re-schedule due to unrelated reasons. Jordan was able to reshuffle his schedule to be able to accommodate my new timeframe. His crew was always punctual, clean, and respectful of my house. They worked very efficiently and were able to complete the job in under a week. The two windows look great and have substantially improved the feeling of the basement, I would highly recommend JDS to anyone looking into egress windows. Outstanding experience!

We had a minor emergency that required us to replace two small basement windows with egress windows in short order. Jordan came by for an estimate next day and actually managed to squeeze us in the following week. His crew were always courteous and very professional, and they did a great job of containing the work zone (so no debris or dust got around) and cleaning up. Even things I told them I'd take care of they went out of their way to clean. Their drywall and framing work was similarly fantastic. Only thing to note is that they don't generally paint the finished walls, though Jordan offered to do so for a fee if I wanted. Worked fast, good price, great people. I'd hire them again in a heartbeat.

I recently had an egress window installed in my home by JDS Home Improvement. I purchased the Rockwell Egress Window. This window brings in a lot of natural light and it's just beautiful! Jordan Jones put a hanger inside the cover of the window so I could hang a plant. Jordan,Joshua Jones and all of the work crew were very professional and kind. The quality of the work is superb. I even had a custom closet made that l am very pleased with. The installation of the window was completed in a few days. The staff cleaned up well. Due to the heavy equipment used, part of my lawn was affected. JDS planted grass seed and the grass has already sprouted in just a few days. If it were not for Jordan, this project would not have been possible. It is without reservation that I highly recommend JDS Home Improvement. I'm looking forward to using JDS Home Improvement for my next project.

These guys are great. They worked fast, but that didn't cut the quality; were very flexible, and repeatedly asked during installation if we were happy with the job so far; were very courteous and polite, and didn't complain at all about working one entire day in the pouring down rain. When the job was done, they cleaned up thoroughly. A job like this requires the right tools, and they've got them all - from backhoes to water-cooled concrete cutting saws to hammer drills to a 15-year veteran carpenter for outstanding finish work. We couldn't have been happier.

The job took 4 days. Josh and his team were on time, professional and kept our house and yard a as clean as possible. He took good care in explaining the process. Jordan and I spoke several times throughout the week and he was very open and accommodating. When we ran into an issue of a needed sub pump Jordan was straightforward and understanding of the added expense. The window looks great and appears to be holding up to the weather well. I would definitely use JDS again.

The installation of the egress window and sump pump was performed in a skilled and professional manner. It's a complex and dirty job that really needs to be done right the first time. While Jordan is not the cheapest, the work done was of the highest quality. After the project was completed, the walls were repaired and everything was meticulously cleaned. Jordan went the extra mile. I would definitely recommend JDS Home Improvement.

Jordan and his team did the work in the time period they said they would. They specialize in egress windows and it really showed! No time gaps in work due to lack of materials or machinery needed. A very organized process. They confirmed design details with us as the work progressed to be sure we got exactly what we wanted. Our basement was finished so they had to work around our furniture and household items. They protected our items AND cleaned up the basement very well at the end of the job. The finished jobs exceeded our expectations. We would highly recommend them.

Chuck came out to the preliminary evaluation and assessment. He was right on time, polite and professional. We came to an agreement on the scope of work and signed a contract. That same day Chuck took the plans to the city and Jordan and his crew started as soon as the permit was issued. They installed an egress window and built and finished a bedroom. There were few issues and Jordan was always very helpful. My biggest problem was a lack of dust mitigation even though I did remind the crew and asked repeatedly. That said, they really did a very nice job, they were quick to fix whatever problems I found and they were always very professional and kind. The workmanship is excellent, and they finished in a very timely manner. I highly recommend Jordan and JDS. I would hire them again!!

JDS did exceptional work. From design to implementation, each member of the team was professional, polite and very responsive to any question we had. We are very happy with the final product. I did extensive research before deciding on a contractor to install my windows. I received several estimates before deciding to go with JDS. Their price was competitive and their customer service was top notch. They responded to my request for an estimate very quickly, explained every detail of the project, and gave me several option to meet my needs. They were very flexible with the start date. After the installation was complete, I received a follow up call to ensure that I was happy with the project and was offered a resource to fix anything that I was unhappy with. I would highly recommend JDS for anyone looking to install egress windows. They are by far the best contractor I have ever hired. Thank you, Jordan!

Jordan was great to work with every step of the way. He was professional as a business owner and a good craftsman, did most of the work himself, which I really liked. We love the egress window as well as the iron hand railing he installed near the window. His clean up after the job was completed was done well- it is a really messy job. When the egress cover turned out to be defective, he replaced it with no problem. I would highly recommend JDS Home Improvement based on the positive experience I had with Jordan.

I hired Jordan to install an egress window into a rental property being rehabbed. Jordan went to the site quickly after I called, sent an estimate and eagerly took my down payment. He waited (per my request) to pull a permit until other remodeling work was done. The work included: removing part of the deck where the window would go, digging out the dirt around the foundation, cutting the foundation concrete, installing the window and window well, and putting the deck back together in a usable format. After a week of work, Jordan told me the job was done so I went to inspect it. Lucky for me I had a general contractor on site pointing out all the issues, which included serious safety hazards, work that wasn't up to building code and poor interior finishing. I sent Jordan a series of photos detailing the issues and he went back to address them. He had not inspected the job after his guys finished the work so he was unaware of the poor quality of the job. The guys he had working on the job were very inexperienced. Jordan did not want to solve the issues or did not have the time, so my general contractor redid the drywall inside and fixed the deck to be up to code. I deducted that cost of the rework from what I owed Jordan. Fixing the egress window problems cost us 3 weeks that we could have had the house finished and on the market to rent. Here are the issues we had when Jordan pronounced the job finished and started asking for the final payment. I have attached photos to illustrate the issues. 1. The metal cage over the egress window well did not fit properly - the window well frame was stretched and installed an inch too wide, so the cage was perched on top of the well instead of capping it. If anyone or anything fell on the back corner, the entire (very heavy) cage tipped and fell into the window well. 2. The egress window frame was not caulked, so rain came into the wall and foundation and soaked into the drywall in the basement 3. There was a large indelible red chalk line left on the ceiling in the basement bedroom. It required Kilz and several coats of paint to cover it up. 4. The egress window would not open all the way because it scraped on the drywall ceiling above it. The drywall was done very poorly and was not even from left to right above the window. 5. The decking around the egress window was poorly patched leaving holes large enough for someone's foot to get stuck, clearly a huge hazard. 6. The deck stairs had to be moved but they were not put back securely and there were no railings, which violates the building code. 7. At least a dozen long rusty deck nails were left littered around the building site, along with other debris that I specifically had to ask him to come back and remove.

The provider arrived as promised to give me an estimate.  He explained in detail all aspects of the work and why, he suggested different options so I could make a good decision on the job.  I am finishing my basement doing most of the work so he worked with me and my design.  He reduced his price once he knew I had a building permit that covered his work, saving him design time and sitting at the permit office. <br /> His crew arrived on the date promised and go the job done as promised and on time.  He was willing to stop and explain in detail what he was doing and why to insure the window was installed properly.  The building inspector was impressed with the work and materials used. <br />

I selected JDS based on the very positive reviews provided here on Angie's List.  I completely agree with the positive reviews of JDS on the quality of their work.  Additionally, the window egress system that they offer looks better than other window wells, albeit a bit more expensive. <br /> JDS is very conscientious about the work that they perform and will take the time to make sure that window, well, and drainage are installed properly and meets the building code of the jurisdiction.  Moreover, the craftsmanship is superb.  The window egress transformed the space and fits in seamlessly with the rest of the house. <br />

Jordan was busy so it took a couple of weeks to start the project. However, once he started, the project was worked on until completed. Jordan the owner of JDS did the work which made me happy. When the job was finished he cleaned up very well. It was a great job and was happy to write the final check. Jordan was very easy to work with and a nice person. He is a good craftsman and would recommend him.

Work was completed expeditiously in four days, the fourth day was mainly dedicated to clean up. The job is dirty, a lot of digging is required, but the contractor did an excellent job leaving the site clean. My new egress window works great and let's a lot of light into what was a very bleak basement. The price was higher than other quotes I received, but I thought the window and hardware were a higher quality. Also, the contractor's job knowledge and experience was higher than others.
