The workmen showed up on time and were very professional and did excellent work. My only issue was how long it took to get the work scheduled, despite that I would use JEC again and would certainly recommend them.

We started a kitchen remodel two years ago.  Long story short, the initial contractor did an awful job and I was turned down by two new contractors because they didn't want to deal with all of the leftover mess (things not done to code, not done correctly, inspector issues and so on).  But, from the moment I met Dave I was impressed with how he handled the situation.  Things started to go as planned and we hit another bump in the road.  This time, it was us and we needed to pay cash for a big chunk of the job so we needed time to save money in between each step.  Dave was very understanding and gave us the time we needed and we proceeded step by step over the next year or so.  We are now finally finishing the job and I am very happy with our service.  Phil, the designer on our job, has been a life saver.  He has helped me with everything and has even provided moral support when I needed it.  He knew when to help me see his point and when to see mine.  He has been a blessing.  In addition, the project manager, Ric, has been amazing.  Not only does he do quality work, but he has been excited for us knowing what we have gone through.  His work is excellent and he is clean and careful and extremely thoughtful while in our home.  He has been an absolute delight to work with.  I respect these men very much.  There have been a few workers I have not been happy with (on some other small jobs that arose over the last year or so), but most things were handled and worked out.  

So far so good! The concrete countertops crafted by JEC Construction look as if they will last many years to come. The unique look of the dyed concrete has helped transform our kitchen from the early 50's to modern times, because of how nice the countertops came out I would likely choose concrete over any other countertop surface in the future.

It starts off to a great start, but over the time, it starts to change fairly and to the end which was very poor. The original contract we agreed was at 93k amounts then it changes with additional changes contract, then again with third additional change contract which I refused to sign.  JEC clearly stated that it will takes 8 to 10 weeks from beginning to end of the construction, but it took over 5 months and still not finished.  Communication was very poor from the owner (Dave).  He hardly come over and inspected the property and see the workmanship that his crew did.  I had requested for itemized list as the prices seem to be outrageous over the time of increasing the cost which he never hand in.  The final inspector was failed twice to the point where I have determined to terminate them.  I did do the correction and the final inspection was passed from my work.  It showed that JEC did not give the best of their quality of services after all.   <br /> <br /> I received a Merchanic's Lien letter from JEC who was very angry that I did not pay full as I withhold some money back due to their undone job and quality of workmanship.  I was ready to take them to judicial court but instead we were able to negotiated to fair price and continued to fix some that need some attention.  They never followed up on it and continued to have very poor communication.  JEC even did not pay contract interpreter and dare to tell her of this problem which should be kept confidential and separate from interpreter issue.  Overall, JEC is not doing their professional business in both which are.... Communication and quality of workmanship.

I called JEC Construction at 8am  this morning for water leaking in my living room ceiling. A crew arrived by 10am. The damage was assessed. They advised as to where the water was coming from and how the issue could be resolved. There was a problem with the flashing on my roof surrounding my chimney. The leak was caused by excess snow and ice build up from our recent bad weather. We agreed on the price and they got on the roof, removed the snow and ice from my entire roof and resealed the flashing around the chimney. Told me to call right away with any issues. No more leak. Fast and courteous. <br />

They did an excellent job.  The exterior work was performed a couple of weeks ago, when the weather was nicer, and it was done in a couple of days. (I should note that they have not finished it, to wait until spring to tidy it up and do finishing work on it.)  We have had rain since that work was done, and the family room was dry.  No musty or dampness to the room at all anymore. <br /> The interior work went really well too. He estimated about 3 days, it took 4.  The floor is a bit springy, due to extra insulation and padding being put down underneath it, which is very nice for a floor on a slab. It came out looking excellent. <br /> Dave and his workers were very respectful of us and our home, and enjoyed talking with our 5 year old son who was super interested in watching them.  When it was possible (and safe) they let him watch, and chatted with him.  The guys really couldn't have been nicer.  One day, I was headed to a garage to get my car's starter motor replaced, and one of the guys helped me get it started. He insisted to help me (by going down on the ground and hitting my starter motor with a hammer, which did get it working) even though I tried to get him to not.   <br /> They also put the laminate on a few steps leading down to the family room.  I was unsure about how they were going to do this, and at first was unsure about their suggested solution, but in the end, I really like the look of what they did. <br /> It's been a few days since they finished, I did have to go over some bits here and there, along with the laminate floor to pick up any settled construction dust, which I expected to do.  We've moved furniture back into the room, and it's easily the nicest room in the house now.

JEC did an excellent job, though progress was a little slow at times and in one or two cases I needed to insist on thing being done the way I wanted. Overall, however, the experience was very good. They dug the foundation, poured footers, and laid block wall. On top of that they built a frame addition with a roofline that we approved. In fact, they suggested a roofline improvement to our original design that we liked and adopted. Costs were always clear and up front and they stayed within their budget.

Although the workers assigned were cordial and attentative, the communications amoung their organization was lacking. Missed attention to detail, the need to redo parts of the project, and minor mishaps lead to a time over run and us having to have them back multiple times.

They were pretty good with working out payments plans and all their workers were cordial. They were pretty good but sometimes their communication was lacking in setting up start up dates and finish dates. They said they will come back and do something and they lack in that department.
