Jent's Handyman Service

We have used Jent's Handyman Services to renovate seven bathrooms till to-date - over a two years period. Three of these were at the business location and four at home. However, he botched the last job which was renovation of the master bedroom bathroom and most important to us. It required installing a Sterling bathroom kit, 61" vanity with marble top, bathroom lighting with rearranging the power points and installing wall and floor tiles.  <br /> He did quite well on other things but made a mess of the tiles which was the main bathroom feature. We had bought mother-of-pearls for the walls and polished marble for the floor. In earlier jobs, we had used ceramic and vinyl tiles which Jesse had installed adequately well. I had cautioned him that I needed this bathroom to be done very well. For this work, he also had one helper. <br /> Setting the tiles went alright but removing the grout was a disaster. I saw them using a sander to remove the grout - he denies it and I disagree.. By doing so, they embedded the grout into the tiles, killing their polish and causing a permanent haze. The damage cannot be undone. Our loss is approx.$3000 in material plus labor o replace all the tiles.  <br /> His assistant painted the bedroom and the closet with good amount of paint droppings on the carpet. We got a professional cleaner to remove those. Also, his assistant installed one of the closet hinges in-side out. I had to reinstall it. Jesse did not properly supervise his assistant nor does he take responsibility for their work. This is my observation from earlier jobs also. <br /> One of the bathroom which he alone had finished about two months ago developed a leak. He came to correct it after 3-4 days of notifying him. However, after couple of days more, area under the sink was still wet. I sent him a message to which he never replied. <br /> I would recommend Jent's Handyman Services for small remodeling jobs but not for work which is more professional in nature. Also, do not expect much post-work support. He does not supervise his helper nor does take responsibility for their work. I won't be using him anymore. <br />

The installers did not have much experience and spent a lot of time deciding how to proceed.  My check was never cashed.  I called and got no response.  I ran into one of the workers later and got a strange explanation about why my check was not cashed. <br />

He assigned two people for this job.  It was far more difficult than anyone thought to remove the wallpaper -- it took almost 2 days and was incredibly messy, although they did their best to clean up after each day.  Our entire house was covered with dust. Mr. Jent was ill and only showed up one time during the entire job.  The workers were very professional, arrived on time every day and worked (except for lunch) continuously until 5 pm.  I was impressed. They cleaned up some before they left each day, but the entire house was still covered in dust until they finished.  They did put plastic over the furniture, but . . . .    Also, the workers took down the window coverings, but I had to specifically ask them to put them back up when they were finished.  I think things would've gone better if the owner had been around more often, but maybe I'm wrong.  In addition, he was supposed to add a shelf in the kitchen, but didn't do it (I didn't pay for it).  Basically, after all of the great reviews, I guess I was disappointed.  After we finished cleaning up, etc. we were very satisfied with the work they did do. <br />

Jesse and his assistant were very timely in getting the job done from the time they did the appraisal.   I was impressed with the fact that he went over and beyond in constructing a sturdy built-in pantry unit with heavy duty hardware, custom made drawers with slides and all done to accommodate heavy cans, etc.    they also brought the kitchen up to modern codes insofar as wiring.  I should add that if you're wanting a contractor who shows up in suit and tie to give the appraisal and then provide a crew of  completely different workmen...........then this isn't the contractor for you.   But, if you want a contractor who provides both the appraisal and does ALL the hands on work, then I recommend Jent's. <br />

<p>I had a tenant call me about garbage disposal issues and needed the plumbing fixed.  I found Jesse Jent was located witihin 5 miles of our rental property and decided to give him a call.  He was quick to respond and managed to work with me on the approximate time he would be available.  He was able to fix the disposal unit and in addition cleared out a clogged drain in the bathroom for our tenants.  His fee was very reasonable considering his flexibility and response time.  Definitely will hire him again in the future.</p> <br />

It went fine. He was able to come earlier in the day than he initially thought. He went right to work and finished in no time. The work looks great! <br />

I needed some repairs done on a rental property and one of the companies I called was Jents.  He arrived early and was quick about quoting price after a walk-thru and explanation of desired repairs.  A time was agreed upon for starting work and Jent arrived promptly with 2 helpers and loads of tools. The work was all completed in a day. Overall, I was very pleased with the majority of the work and would definitely use this company again.

This job required going into the attic and making new electric boxes, cutting holes in the ceiling in two spots, then installing the light fixtures. The end result is great! <br /> <br />I will definitely use Jesse in the future. <br />

Jessie Jent, the owner, was very prompt in meeting with us on the initial consultation. Upon first impression we were skeptical about his ability to complete a large job of this scope to our satisfaction.   However, the reviews helped us sway our decision to finally go with Jent's Handyman Service.  After the completion of the reface of the fireplace, we were very impressed with the speed and quality of his work and from that point on we were sold on his ability to complete the project to our satisfaction.  Once Jessie started on the actual kitchen remodel phase of the job, he arrived every day at the agreed  time for two weeks until every aspect of the job was completed short of the tile work which had to wait on the countertop installation.  That portion of the job was completed within a timely manner, shortly after the countertop installers put in the countertops.  Of note here, the countertop installers commented on the excellent plumb and levelness of the cabinet installation by Jent's crew.  Also, it needs to be mentioned that Jessie was gracious enough to install our old countertop and sink until the new sink and countertop arrived allowing us to use our kitchen without delay and at no additional cost.  We are very pleased with the overall value we received for our money, Jent's provided very good workmanship, good communication, timely completion of work and a great overall experience that we would not hesitate to do again. <br />

The project started as we suspected a leak in on of the bathroom bathroom. I Selected Jent's Handyman Services through Angie's list as they had good reviews. Jesse, the owner, stopped-by within a couple of days to discuss the work. At first, Jesse provided a general work description but for my satisfaction, I worked with him through emails & SMS to finalize requirements and get an itemized quote. The work was don in three phases. First, shower system, painting and floor tiles were installed in one bathroom. Second, one small half-bath was fully remodeled. Lastly, granite vanity top was replaced in the first bathroom. Between the work, a number of other small tasks were completed such as installing mail box, weatherization, door painting, installing two external lights & looking at the Lazy Susan, etc. There were three people team who worked the first task (two days) and two persons for the next two, taking a full day for each.  <br /> Jesse & his teams were courteous and worked diligently. Working out details & selecting parts before getting a quote from Jent's was helpful in speeding up the work and knowing the expense. I will be using Jent's Handyman Service again in the near future. <br /> <br />

It went great.  We adopted him, my daughter jokingly referred to him as her brother.  I granted him access to our home when we weren't there in order to enable him to stay busy, with total trust in him and his crew.  He was prompt, cleaned up after himself and his crew, kept me aware of how much I'd spent and how much was left to do.  His prices were incredibly reasonable.  When I need anything, I'll call Jent.  We have a plan in the future to re-do the bathrooms and kitchen, and he knows all I need is the money and he's ready to schedule. <br />

Jent is very responsive and takes the phone call every time you call. <br /> Came week back to look at the work and quoted me $400 for the job; he didn't charge anything extra after he completed the work. <br /> Did a wonderful job installing microwave, inline fan and duct work. Added some custom work for duct installation to meet my requirement. Now my exhaust system works perfect. <br /> I will definitely use his service in future, he is very reasonably priced. <br /> <br />

Mr Jent was timely, Knowledgeable and fair priced.  He actually met me at Home Depot to pick up the dishwasher I'd bought.  I was only in town for a few days to take care of my rental home, and he got the jobs done quickly so that I could take care of other issues.  I will definitely use him again. <br />

House was built in the 70's. Removed the original tub and original tiles. Replaced with new tub and wall unit. Worked it in well with wall repair and remaining tiles. Glad that Jesse did the final details, it was a little rough after his crew finished but Jesse corrected it to his and my satisfaction. <br />

I couldn't go with him. Because my wife is in a wheelchair, I needed a repair that could be done in one day. <br />

 I was told that the shower floor repair could be done without any problems so I agreed to have him fix the shower floor.  A months later my tenants noticed a water mark around the lower portion of the wall outside the bathroom.  The access panel to the back wall of the basement bathroom show that there was water pooling on the wood frame of the shower floor and mold had developed as well.  I recently contacted the repair person who came out to perform the job and never received a response.  I was told by several plumbers that the shower floor job was poorly done and was not properly sealed.  I will never use this service again! <br />

He showed up the same night I called to repair the basement leak immediately and returned the next day to make all other repairs with a female assistant. She did the kitchen sink while he fixed the bathtub plumbing and they worked together to reseat the toilet. <br /> Both were excellent at explaining what they would do, what it would cost and did everything in less time than I anticipated. <br /> Nobody could have done a better job, in my opinion. <br /> <br /> In addition, a few weeks later when I'd developed a minor leak near the sink replacement, Jesse came out the next night, took a look and readily admitted that one of the fixtures had come loose. There was no way of knowing if it was a minor flaw in the connection, or a minor readjustment needed or if I even had accidentally caused it. <br /> <br /> But Jesse repaired it in a couple minutes and even took a look at a leak in my toilet valve, which he fixed. <br /> <br /> As he picked up to leave, I asked "How much?" <br /> <br /> INCREDIBLY! He said, "Don't worry about it... I was in the neighborhood. Happy to help." <br /> <br /> This man is not only a craftsman and a man of honor, but a genuinely swell guy to employ.  <br /> That's quite rare. <br /> <br /> I wouldn't hesitate to refer him to anyone. <br />

they arrived on time and work was very good. said it would take two days but took only one. Very good job. Very nice workers. Jesse has great attention to detail and was super nice!

I purchased most of the materials myself. His work was very good. At first I was a little hesitant but he came out and gave me a estimate. Everything he did turned out excellent. He also made some suggestion some things that he saw. He kept my budget in mind. He ran everything by me before hand. I was overall satisfied.

Overall, I am always pleased with Mr. Jent's work and staff.  The ceilings look great.  There was one small misunderstanding in that in one of the rooms the paint extended beyond the ceiling to the walls.  This was because we were going to be painting these walls very soon and the thought was there was no need to be very detailed.  Once this was cleared up, there is not a smudge of paint on any of the other walls in any of the other rooms.  The cut in between the ceilings and the walls was PERFECT.  So glad they did the work on our cathedral ceilings rather than us. <br />
