J & G Masonry & General Contractors - Glenn Taylor

I had used Glenn many years ago for some masonry repairs and called him again for this project as I lost his number but I was elated to find his information on Angie's list. He came over very promptly after calling him and gave me written estimate detailing all the work to be performed. My front and back stoops and walk way renovation was a project I had put off for a long time, mostly from the dread of finding a quality mason contractor to do the job since I lost his number from before. Glenn kept me in the loop for the entire project and asked for my input along the way. They cleaned up the area around where the work was performed. Glenn was prompt and always called me every morning to tell me when to expect him, he was knowledgeable, personable and professional and I could go on and on! He and his crew finished the premium flagstone stoops and walkway exactly as designed ahead of the time he told me and strives for customer satisfaction as evidenced with his qualuty work. I can't think of any way this job could have been completed in a more professional manner or with a better company. Should I have need of a masonry contractor in the future, I will definitely call J & G Masonry as I was so very happy with the work performed. I'm already thinking about the next project that I can call Glenn about doing - possibly an outdoor brick oven. I miss seeing him come to my house every day. You won't be disappointed!

The work was excellent! Glenn is a great guy to work with and was the ONLY mason I could find who could do the work on such short notice, which was less than a week by the way, in order to not push back settlement day. He gave me a very reasonable estimate and came out and did the work when he said he was going to. No issues whatsoever. I would definitely consider them for my next project.

The retaining walls came out phenomenal providing architectural appeal in addition to function to the property

We met with Glenn and Josh a few times before beginning the project. They had a nice professional proposal and were always responsive on the phone. They preferred phone and mail over email but that was fine with me.   I priced out about 8 different masonry companies since the price for this foundation and slab was all over the map (range from 9k to 24k).  J&G was slightly higher than the lowest company but their customer service, reputation on Angieslist, and responsiveness made us select them.  We had a few weather delays.  Glenn was great at explaining what they were doing and when.  If I asked them to tidy up the site, they took care of it right away. <br />   <br /> They laid the rebar for the footers and while we waited for inspection, the rain made a big mess of everything.  After waiting for the ground to dry out, they cleaned up the holes and removed all the soft mud.  The rebar was all put back into place and we were able to pour the concrete and have it set up.  We also had a piece of rebar attached to the footer rebar for a footer electrical ground.  Once our electrician comes out, the grounding wire can be tied in to the rebar.  <br /> After that week, things moved a bit faster with building the block walls with anchor bolts, backfilling, adding a load of gravel for grading, and finally pouring the slab.  In their proposal, Glenn had written that they would do the 6" wire mesh in the slab but then proposed having the concrete supplier add fiber reinforcement to the concrete at the plant instead.  The inspector was okay with this change.  My understanding is that while the fiber reinforced concrete is slightly more expensive, it's less labor. <br /> It's been about 3 weeks and we are very satisfied with the work J&G performed.  Other contractors have all said it looks like they did a great job.

This man, Glenn Taylor, was very easy to work with. His work was outstanding, he was punctual, and very fair priced. Definitely will use him in the future. Wish we could have used him for past services.

I found them on Angies List and the most recent review was a customer that had their fireplace bricks replaced and chimney sealed, which was the primary reason we called.  I know the first thing you want to know is that there was No sales pressure at all. <br /> 1) They came out the day after contacting them (Friday).  I received a quote via email early Saturday morning, it had each item listed and priced individually.  We decided to have all the items done and responded Saturday morning. <br /> 2) They made a second visit with brick samples, to verify that they matched the house (that same Saturday). <br /> 3) They were able to complete the work within one week of their first visit.  One day earlier then we were told to expect them to finish. <br /> They arrived Monday and I knew it was going well, when I got home early that afternoon and the front sidewalk was raised and looked just great.  They were already cleaning the mortar off the side of the house. <br /> The communication was great, each day they let us know what they would be working on the next day and what time we could expect them to be there. <br /> Unlike new construction, where you want everything to look new, we did not want the work to look new.  We wanted it to blend right into our forty year old home.  The sidewalk choices were, to replace about 25 feet of sidewalk and it not match the porch apron or the driveway or we could try to raise it, with the understanding that it may workout and it might break during the attempt.  Well, I am happy to say that everything blends is so well, it looks like nothing was ever wrong.  That is exactly what we wanted. <br /> My wife is already coming up with ideas of things for them to do. <br /> <br /> <br />

Returned my call right away. They were very knowledgeable about masonry work related to fireplaces. It was a bit difficult to get a set date to begin work however it was around Thanksgiving. Overall I had no issues and would use again. <br />

Selected J&G by competitive bidding process. They pulled permits and then performed work from start to finish. It went very well - in fact better than expected- thanks to their efforts. I have nothing but superlatives to say about them.

All went exceedingly well.  Josh and Glenn (J & G)  were chosen by down selection from among several candidate contractors.  They responded fully to all my verbal interview questions, and they responded in writing to my specifications.  They prepared a contract that included a detailed statement of work.  They worked with me on all phases of the design and material selection.  Work commenced just days after county permit approval.  J & G managed all logistics:  equipment transportation; material delivery.  At each step, they explained what had been done, what to expect next, and what little I needed to do or supply.  Work was fast and efficient.  The whole process was fun to watch.  The resulting chimney and fireplace is a work of art.  Beyond ;sheer professionalism, Glenn and Josh are good and interesting people. <br />

gs that Glenn Taylor is an amazing person.  I loved hearing about his life.  He and Josh are truly some of the nicest people I have ever met.  My husband and I couldn't be happier than we are.  We have already been thinking of other things that we can get them to fix or repair.  I expect to calling them back within the next couple of months.  I, happily, recommend these men to everyone.  You just won't find better people to give you amazing results. <br />

Despite a few glitches, good and timely work. <br />

They came when they said they would and went right to work on the very dirty crawlspace.  They removed construction debris often so the area did not look messy. Daily, when I returned after work, they explained what they had done that day. As can be seen from the long description of the many different projects they did, the company is able to do more than just masonry work. They were willing to talk with me to work out any design issues.  We did change several things.  For example: I had wanted two doors put into my crawlspace, and saw that it was too expensive, so they put in one, & framed it to easily open & close. When I thought the branches to one tree hung too close to my roof, they trimmed the branches, for no added labor. <br /> The only time that they took a couple of days break, was when they were sick, with whatever was going around. <br />  I would have J & G Masonry back on other projects again. The work was completed in 3-1/2 weeks. <br />

They are very good and very thorough.  They are also very reasonable.  They are a masonry company but they actually do a variety of things, lot more than masonry, they remodeled a bathroom for us.  We truly get almost more than what we pay for, which is very unusual these days.  I will continue to use this provider again in the future.
