Clean and Inspect a gas fireplace
I was contacted immediately and scheduled for an assessment of the problem . Once found the part was ordered and two weeks later installed. Every person I spoke to was honest about the situation and good natured. Much appreciated.

Excellent company with outstanding customer service. We are so happy with our ventless gas logs. Our living room is so cozy, and our house is much warmer. I had some questions, and the owner called me personally to answer them. I highly recommend J H Kinard.

They were not are thorough are the business we used before. Automatically said we would need a full cleaning not the $125 but twice as much. Other service went on the roof to inspect chimney from the top. These guys didn’t. Done in less than 45 minutes. Would not recommend and will not use again. I could have done what they did for less money and a better job.

"Hello Ms. [Member Name Removed], Your appointment with us was back in October 2023. We quoted to you when you called for your appointment that it is $125.00 for an inspection, and $275.00 if a cleaning is needed, this includes the inspection. It is typically less that 30 mins to clean a chimney. My technicians identified that the chimney needed cleaning and cleaned it so that would be safe for use and wouldn't have a chimney fire. A chimney cleaning is needed after you burn a chord of wood, that is basically a pick up truck full of wood. Pam JH KInard 678 817-9778"

I was having water intrusion in the carpet around the base of my fireplace every time it rained. Very nice guys. However paid $125 for them to tell me my chimney was halfway dirty, chimney cap needed replacing, and that the foundation was the cause of my water intrusion NOT the roof. Said he’d been doing it for 17 years and knows what he’s talking about. Took two weeks to get the masonry worker out and to get a quote. Quoted me $7500 for foundation waterproofing, trench drains, and to redo the patio behind the chimney. I found a different company who did it for half of that. Well, it didn’t solve the water intrusion. Decided to have a roofer from another company come out. They told me the flashing was installed completely wrong, fixed it for $900 in a jiffy and problem solved. My question is: how does a chimney specialist not realize the flashing was not installed properly? I learned my lesson in the need for multiple opinions. Just disappointed that it was a simple fix that took over a month to figure out because I trusted this company first.

Turned out the problem was operator error. I had forgotten the secret to getting my logs start, but after days of trying and asking everyone I knew to see if they could figure out the problem, Kinard’s service charge was cheap in comparison to other companies I called and they came out within days, rather than having to wait over a month and pay over 3x for a service call just to show me how to operate the logs. I felt rather foolish when the tech showed me what to do. I would have felt more foolish to have spent $300 dollars and spent another cold season never haven turned on my fireplace. Thanks

Everyone I dealt with — from the womanwho answered the initial call to the different woman who phoned with a reminder ... to David who called to tell me he was on his way (on time!!) ... everyone was impressive. And they fixed my problem, cleaned up and were super friendly! If you need fireplace work — five stars (or whatever is the most!) from me!!

When i sent the request I did so because I kept hearing something in my chimney. When they arrIived I was not home, but they had already completed the inspection upon my arrival. I was told there was nothing in the chimney, but there was a hole that would need to be repaired that would run about $4200, and they could cap it for about $375, if I wanted. I said i would get back to them, but i continued to hear something in the chimney so I called someone else to check it out for me. There was a full blown birds nest with eggs. So I will be calling someone to remove that after the eggs have hatched.

The person that came out and did initial inspection was incredibly helpful and thorough. I'd hire them again in a heartbeat. I had to replace a part on my gas fireplace - which comes this Friday - several weeks earlier that promised. I'm hoping I get the same guy that came before. The part is the most cost on the entire bill.

Excellent response when I called the company. Prompt service (the next day!). Technicians were very professional - took great care to protect the area surrounding the fireplaces. Did an excellent job cleaning and cleaning up after. Would highly recommend them and would definitely hire them again.

Tech came out to inspect and immediately said he could not repair the pipe. He stated he would have to replace the entire fireplace which would cost approximately $5000. Spent less than 20 minutes at my home and charged $95.

"Hi Ms [Member Name Removed], I am sorry that we are not able to repair your fireplace. Through the emails we exchanged prior to us ever coming out, I had quoted to you a minimum to repair the firebox walls of $1000.00. Unfortunately, if the flue pipe is disconnected or damaged, depending on the make and model, we can not get replacement pipe, we have to replace the entire unit and it cost $4800.00. The inspection fee does get credited back toward anything we might do for you within 90 days. Thank you JH Kinard 678 817-9778"

My pilot light would not stay lit and would not light the logs. Of course I have no way of determining what the real issue was, but everything I have read online pointed to a worn out piece where other companies were charging around $150 to replace. This company told me that the problem was the pilot light assembly and that it would cost $1,100.00 to replace. WHOA! I feel like I could buy a new fireplace for this amount. So now I have had to pay $95 for them to come out and do no repair because there is no way I could afford $1,100 to have them do what they say needs to be done (and that part is only $130 online so I am not sure how they are charging so much). The guys came out on short notice (only a few days after I called), which I appreciated. They were friendly, although a little snarky when I told the one guy I had already opened the glass and vacuumed everywhere to see if it just needed cleaning) I just feel helpless that I have no way to know if what they say is the problem is really the problem or if it may be the $150 repair I have seen happen all over my neighborhood. I will likely have to have a second opinion...still chilly and racking up the bills. :(
