I have to say that my experience with JLI has been less than satisfactory to say the least for the following reasons:
1) I was at the house that i am fixing up a little before 8AM this morning to meet the mason Joel. He showed up around 10:50 AM, close to 3 hours late.
2) In order to be able to install the sliding glass door, concrete needs to be installed under that surface for the door to go onto it. Unfortunately, Joel did not have the right kind of cement that would dry quickly (despite just being at Home Depot, and knowing (or should have known) that I wanted to install the sliding door the same day. Since it took him over 90 minutes to go purchase the correct cement, that is another delay.
3) I had scheduled this job well in advanced, and made it clear how important it was for me to be able to install the door the same day. This was not able to happen because of 1) Joel being 3 hours late, and 2) Joel not having the right type of cement and incurring additional delays.
4) The concrete was laid by 2PM. It was very warm, and the windows installers estimated that it probably needed another 2 hours to be sure that all the moisture was out before they felt comfortable installing the windows... as a result, since they needed to leave by 5PM, they did not want to twittle their thumbs for 2 hours or leave after 5PM... therefore, the sliding door install had to wait until the next day.
5) Looking purely at an hourly perspective, I note that 3 men came on site (not sure if they were all licensed masons...one seemed like an assistant and picking stuff up and did not deal with concrete; the other did part of the cutout, but needed the main mason Joel to take over because the cut was not straight). The window cut out took about 50 minutes. Joel came back, and the cement work was about an hour. Assuming the time for all 3 men for the cutout, this represents an actual total of only 3.5 hours of labor, not 8. Assuming only professional mason labor, it totals less than 2 hours work if one excludes going to home depot to get fast acting cement, something that masons usually carry with them.
6) The reason that Joel had estimated 8 hours in the first place was that he thought he would spend most of him time taking out the side bricks of the frame and replacing them with other bricks with a face, since the bricks were cut. I did not deem this necessary, since I can simply put some paneling or something else. As a result, this time-consuming part of the work according to the estimate was not really needed, and it would have been useful for me to use the other hours for some other task. Joel said it was raining though so he could not do any other task today. They seemed to have other things going on that day, and did not want to stick around. As a result, I am not sure what happens to my other 4.5 or 6 hours or masonry that I paid for?
7) Also, I am not sure how a mason contractor operates, but most individuals that I have hired clean up after their work. Instead, Joel refused to clean up and left me with a big pile of rubble that is still sitting in my backyard.

The bottom line is the following:

1) That evening, I was left with a big hole in the side of my house and a pile of rubble. At least, my windows guys were there the next day before 8 putting in the slider.
2) I paid for 8 hours of labor through Angie's list and only got 2 or 3.5 depending on the definition of an hour of "Professional Masonry Labor."
3) I called many times that afternoon, and Monday morning, and sent an email to Lindsay at the main office with the points above because I was upset and wanted a resolution. No answer.. nobody picking up the phone.
On a positive note, Joel did perform the cutout correctly, and after a comment from my window installer, he did get the concrete slab level for the slider install.
Everything went great! Lindsay called promptly after I purchased a deal on here. Once the work was scheduled Joel came out to do the work. He was on time and showed me tons of issues with what needed to be repaired. He gave me detailed information on why it cracked and let me know that it would happen again if not done correctly. He gave me a quote for a new stone walkway and porch that was more than fair having known several people to have the same work done with other companies. I plan on taking them up on the work in the future for sure just coudln't swing it after the holidays. Both Lindsay and Joel provided everyhing I hoped for given the companies great reputation.
The owner followed up with my inquiry, did a site visit and provided an estimate to my specifications. The stone that I wanted had to be special ordered but upon arrival ended up on the grass instead of the drive. A bit of an inconvenience but no damage was done to the grass. The wall was built on time and no change to the final charge. I was very pleased.
Punctual, on time, did all the work described in estimate. Pricey, but good. Owner, operator was on site the whole time making sure the work was done. Would give them a B+ -- expense keeps them from an A. I would use them again but I think I would check for someone cheaper first.
My husband and I were very impressed with the service provided by JLI Services, Inc. We have an existing slate walkway, which was stained with mold and had several loose pieces on the walkway and steps. Additionally much of the grout/cement between the slates had broken apart so we had a lot of gaps in the grout. The overall appearance was unsightly, and we were concerned about safety with the loose slates. I called several companies that were highly rated and described the job. Two companies told me that it would be much more cost effective to rip up the walk and two steps and replace with a brand new walkway. Another company sent someone out to do an estimate, and he said that he could do a cosmetic job which would clean the slates and replace the grout but it wouldn't address the loose slates. He sent a quote for that approach and also for putting in a new walkway. JLI Services responded to my call and discussed options; then project manager Guy Reeser came out to inspect the walk. He agreed that we could use the existing slates and save money by cleaning and repairing what we had. Their quote came in at a much better price than the others. They also were able to get the work done a day before Thanksgiving, thanks to a last minute cancellation, so that we could have a "new walkway" that would be attractive and safe when our guests arrived.
Guy was on hand both days to inspect the progress of his team. The two men, Joel and Blas, that did the work did a fantastic job of cleaning the slates, removing all grout, checking bonding of each slate and re-cementing those that needed it, building up the level at the end of the walk, and finishing with new grout throughout. At the end, they replaced everything that they had moved and left the site spotless. They were courteous, happy to answer questions, efficient,, and skilled at their work. Guy was on hand at completion of the work to be sure we were happy with the end product and to give us instructions about when we could use the walkway.
I would use JLI Services again and will recommend them to friends.
Also the time you took to describe the project and the timeline you presented bring a lot of detail to the forefront that would otherwise be missed in a generic review. Thanks so much for the business and we look forward to working with you again in the future. Have a great holiday season!! Sincerely, Guy"

Guy and his crew were professional throughout and performed the job as expected. We were concerned that the front posts would not look as good as the new railing but they did a nice job to refinish and paint them. Everything looks great and we are pleased.

JLI Services, Inc took on our project not knowing what was under the overgrown ivy. Once all the ivy was removed, they built the 100 ft long staggered retaining wall, used the proper drainage for the height of the wall, back filled, and then added top soil with grading to connect to our existing yard. As a bonus, they laid grass seed and covered with hay. Through this process, we gained an additional 3 1/2 feet of yard that we never knew we had because of the ivy overgrowth. We added to their scope of work, and they were able to meet our needs each time. The job was completed on schedule and done on budget. The workers were friendly and answered any questions we had. They cleaned up everyday, which was important since we have dogs. Several neighbors and even the inspector commented on the quality of the work.

Professional, courteous, fast service. I called JLI seeking spring cleaning and landscaping services in preparation for an outdoor party. The owner was responsive and expedient and met with me that same day to assess what I needed. John had impressive knowledge of plants growing on my landscape and how to care for them. When it came time to perform the work I was thrilled with the job he and his staff had done and the beautiful curb appeal of the property when they were through with it. It didn't hurt that the owner was an all around nice guy, despite being skilled and knowledgeable. I am extremely happy with the work and fair price.

It was a great experience. John came out to view the patio and discuss with us the work we wanted done-- building a fence to close the back of the patio, and a small fence to hide the a/c unit, and level the brick patio. We then received an email with the estimate from Lindsay a day or two later which included the fence work and two options for the patio (re-using existing pavers or using all new pavers), and the costs for both.
We decided to reuse the existing pavers. They acquired the appropriate permits needed from the city of Rockville and got to work. The job took a little bit longer than expected, but Lindsay kept us up to date on the progress as the project moved along. There were some additional delays on account of rain, but as soon as it was dry, they were back to it.
JLI was also open and responsive to questions we had throughout, as well as correcting a few things we noticed during the process.
Overall, the fencing and the patio look great, and the open communication/responsiveness between us and JLI is something that was very valuable.
