The technician arrived promptly and determined the problem-the shocks will need to be replaced at some point. He suggested how we might change the way we load the washer to mitigate the leakage temporarily and the office emailed the quote to replace the parts. I will definitely use this company again.

Excellent. Technician was very courteous and he answered all of my technical questions concerning the washer. Showed me what things to watch out for and clean to maintain washer in tip top shape. He knew exactly what the problem was and how to quickly repair it. Great price for the speed, experience, and knowledge provided to me for this repair.
I actually called them before reviewing this site and once I read some of the reviews I almost called and cancelled. But I decided to move ahead. In the end they gave great service in fixing both my oven and refrigerator. The oven needed a new control board and the refrigerator needed a new valve. There was no attempt to perform unnecessary repairs, and the price they quoted up front was what I got charged in the end.
"WE GREATLY APPRECIATE THIS CUSTOMER TAKING TIME TO GIVE A FULL AND WELL THOUGHT OUT REVIEW OF OUR COMPANY. WE APPRECIATE THAT REVIEW FORUMS ARE OFTEN NOT POPULATED BY SATISFIED CUSTOMERS, WHO MOVE ALONG WITH THIER LIVES, NOT SPENDING A GREAT DEAL OF TIME THINKING ABOUT REPAIRS THEY'VE HAD DONE. FOR THIS REASON, OAK HILL APPLIANCE WISHES TO EXTEND OUR GRATITUDE TO SATISFIED CUSTOMERS WHO DO TAKE THE TIME TO SAY SOME KIND WORDS IN A PUBLIC SETTING. THEY DO NOT GO UNNOTICED AND KEEP OUR STAFF MOTIVATED TO CONTINUE SERVING THE NEEDS OF CITIZENS OF AUSTIN!"

There is a reason that this company only rated a and quot;Cand quot; according to Angie's list, but it really should be given an and quot;Fand quot; rating. Although I had never personally witnessed our dishwasher leaking, the inspector for the buyer who was buying our house notice water at the bottom of the dishwasher and thought there was a leak. So I needed a third party to document whether there was a leak or not to close on the sale of our house. That is why I called Oak hill. From the get go, when I spoke with the Oak Hill people on the phone they didn't not make me aware that it would be $85 just to show up and look at the machine (of course they made me aware of that later). Their technician came out and performed a and quot;diagnosticand quot; which consisted of them opening the bottom of the dishwasher and running it for a few minutes. They told me they did not find any leak. Although they did not find a leak, they did say I should replace a gasket. When I asked if the gasket was failing or if their was a leak because of the gasket, the tech said no, but and quot;those gaskets usually go bad on these machines.and quot; They also found another and quot;gasketand quot; that they said was missing. The price they wanted to replace these gaskets was over $200 plus the $85 and quot;diagnostic fee. (The dishwasher was only 3 years old and cost about $275 new). After they spent a total of about 20 minutes there the tech asked our babysitter for $85 for his 20 minutes of work. He then called me asking for the money while I was at work. I called one of the owners and asked them how I was suppose to know to leave a check when 1) they didn't tell me it was $85 just to show up and do a 10 minute and quot;diagnosticand quot;, and 2) no work had been done yet because no inspection had been done, in other words, how can I know what to pay if I didn't know if there was anything wrong with the machine? Surprisingly, the owner was very rude and instead of listening to my concern, just wanted to tell me how they did everything right and how I needed to pay.
A week later Christy from Oak hill called asking me for $85. She didn't want to hear about the poor service I recieved, she just wanted the money. She insisted that they had addressed whether there was a leak or not on their invoice. The copy of the invoice I recieved didn't address what I requested them to do; document whether they found a leak or not so I could close on our house. Instead they just found other things that and quot;mightand quot; go bad in the future.
Finally, I had another repair company come out the next week and they told me that there was no leak and that there were no bad gaskets or missing gaskets on the machine!!! He then promptly emailed me a receipt that reflected his findings that he could not find a leak (what I originally had requested Oak Hill to do). Oak Hill tried to take me for over 200 dollars without even doing the job I requested and they still had the nerve to ask for $85.

"CUSTOMER CONTRACTED OAK HILL APPLIANCE TO DIAGNOSE ANY POSSIBLE LEAKS ASSOCIATED WITH MACHINE. CUSTOMER WAS MADE AWARE OF CHARGES PRIOR TO CALL, AS ALL CUSTOMERS ARE. CUSTOMER WAS NOT PRESENT AT TIME OF SERVICE, SO HIS COMMENTARY ON TIME OF REPAIR IS NEGLIGENT AT BEST. THE TECHNICIAN ACCURATELY DIAGNOSED AND DOCUMENTED THE CURRENT OBSERVED CONDITION OF THE MACHINE. HE ALSO, AT NO ADDITIONAL COST, NOTED, FOR THE OWNER'S CONVENIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE, POSSIBLE SOURCES OF ANY INTERMITTENT LEAKS OR FUTURE SOURCES OF DEFECT. CUSTOMER WAS UNDER NO OBLIGATION TO PURSUE ANY PREVENTIVE REPAIRS. HE THEN CALLED DISPUTING FUNDS OWED FOR SERVICE AND INDICATED HE WANTED DOCUMENTATION THAT WAS FABRICATED TO SATISFY HIS INSPECTORS REQUIREMENTS FOR SELLING THE HOME. OAK HILL APPLIANCE HAS NEVER AND WILL NEVER CONTRIBUTE TO FRAUD. CUSTOMER STILL HAS BALANCE OWED. CUSTOMER BADGERED AND THREATENED OFFICE MANAGER. APPROPRIATE REAL ESTATE COMMISSIONS AND SERVICE THEFT AGENCIES HAVE BEEN REPORTED TO. BEWARE IF PURCHASING HOME FROM THIS PERSON."

I called Oak Hill appliance because I had been smelling gas when my oven was on. They sent someone over the very next day. They gave me a window of time from 9 until noon, and he arrived about 9:20, which was awesome. He diagnosed the problem, installed a new ignitor in the oven and it's all working perfectly now. Start to finish, he was here about 45 minutes.

I called this company because on their web site it said they have a huge warehouse and had most parts on hand for brands that included my dishwasher. The night before I called I had taken the dishwasher apart and found a broken handle, and when I called, I told Oak Hill appliance this as well as the model number. I was told they would be out that day. I of course I assumed it would be with the part I needed. I knew service call was $75.00 but felt it would be better to get them right out with part, than ordering it on internet and waiting 3 days for it, boy was I wrong.. The young tech told me they can't possibly have all parts on hand and he would order one and the worst case would be 2 days. He also said I would pay for part and small labor charge on second appointment. That would have been a Friday, well I did not hear from them until Tuesday the next week. 7 days is long time for a family of 4 to go without a dishwasher.

He came out with part, installed it very quickly and then had to take it apart again as he forgot to plug in the power supply to the board. Then he handed me a bill for 125.00 for part and labor. I then got furious...I had paid 81.00 for previous trip charge( I live less than a mile and a half from their shop) and he had said labor would very little. So 205.00 to replace a handle that this 56 year old woman had determined the cause of failure and supplied model number so they could bring part on first trip, was more than I could bare. I paid him for the part and told him to have manager call me. On monday received bill, and was going to write a letter to them with a check when I received call from their office demanding I give them a credit card number which I refused since I don't trust these cons. I will pay them in their customary time frame of 8 days.

Don't use this company, I have now read quite a few reviews that other people have described issues with them that mirror mine.
I heard they moved a while back because someone ran a car into their old building, Something tells me it was not an accident.
"The customer called and asked us to come look at her dishwasher. She said there were problems with the door. The tech came out and found that the door latch needed replacing, and all that was available was a black one. She was upset about the color (she wanted white). After spending some time searching, we confirmed that all colors of door handle except black had been discontinued. She was very curt and said she would just come into the shop and buy the part. When she came to buy the part she was loud and aggressive, claiming that it was the wrong part. She demanded that other parts be ordered and that a technician come install them. When the technician arrived, he determined that the part we originally told her she needed was the correct part. He installed and the washer worked without flaw. When she was handed a bill for the part and the labor, she became extremely upset. She threw the invoice at the technician and proceeded to swear violently at him as well as threaten him with violence (from her "big friends"). She threw the money for the part out the door and told him that if Oak Hill Appliance wanted the rest of the money they could call her at her ******* office. Following her recommendation, Oak Hill Appliance sent a bill for funds outstanding and followed up with a phone call at her office. She said that she would not be sending in payment any time soon and that she would "bury" Oak Hill Appliance. It is clear that the customer has frustrations that go beyond her appliances. Her dishwasher is now working, she was given proper diagnosis as well as provided with part numbers and she was instructed how to the repair herself. When she refused, the repair was done for her and the appropriate AND previously quoted labor charges were presented."

Oakhill appliance told me that their sister company (fix-your-board) could repair the control board on my range. All that was needed was to bring it in and drop it off. When I did this they told me it would be fixed in 48-72 hours, that I would have the board back by the end of the week. I asked if they would give me a call after running the diagnostics and they (Nate) said it would not be a problem. After about 70 hours of not hearing back from them, I call to check the status. Nate answer and said he would have to check on it. He came back and said they were working on it. When I pushed back and asked why they had not called with a status, he said it was fix-your-board who was responsible. Then I was told what they said was the 48-72 hours was an estimate not a guarantee. Then he switched his story to say that the board was still on the test table. So, they had not even done the testing.

I can deal with delays. However, this vendor did not do one thing they promised and then attempted to lie to cover it up. I call this bad business and would not recommend using them.

"Customer came into shop to buy parts. Despite having no model or part number, we were able to find and get correct parts at a fair price. He then came in later to bring a board for Fix Your Board to repair. We was told the boards typically take 48-72 hours to be repaired, depending on volume. He called 36 hours later and became upset that his board was not yet repaired. He refused the service and picked up his control board. He was not charged any monies."

My advice is to be aware that some of their employees have far more experience than others. In the past, they had to come out to my home six separate times because of this.

Overall it was a complete dissappointment, since the first technician decided he had to get the heck out of there, on the second visit, after taking a personal call in Spanish just before lunch time (my wife is fully fluent in Spanish, its her native language) He did not fully explain how to defrost the condenser coil to us, which he should have stayed and verified it had fully defrosted before running out on us to meet his friend for lunch. The third visit, which at least we were not charged for, was performed by another technician and although he spent much more time troubleshooting and defrosting, over 2 hours, did not solve the problem. A few days later he called back and explained that GE had a Service Bulletin on our defrost unit and that if the problem returned (which it did) we would need to spend $600 on just the part to solve our problem. We found out from GE that was not true and if they had just installed a GE defrost timer instead of a generic one, our problem would have been fixed by them. We were charged $239 in labor for less than one hour of work to replace a $25 part. I asked them what was the hourly labor rate, which they don't charge, they base the labor price on what is being done. Since the part being replaced was easy to get to, and they spent less than one hour in the first two visits total, I feel they are overcharging on labor by quite a bit. Heck even the Mercedes dealer doesn't charge that much per hour! After another service company installed a GE part and confirmed that GE does NOT have a $600 defrost unit service bulletin upgrade for our frig, we have had no problems at all with our refrigerator (GE Monogram 42" built in) which is now almost 10 years old. So if you are considering using Oak Hill Appliance, I would strongly suggest you call someone else, unless you like being overcharged for the installation of generic parts that probably wont fix the problem you asked them to fix.....

Overall, Oak Hill Appliance is an excellent resource for large appliance repair. They are professional and experienced and know what they are doing. Bruce bought the business two years ago after working as an electrical engineer locally and having a lot of experience with electrical diagnostics and repair. Bruce was magnanimous about pricing on both parts and labor due to all the problems I'd had with this oven. I much prefer contracting with a small, efficiently run local business than a national chain of morons that haven't a clue about my appliances. I highly recommend them.

I felt like I was overcharged. To change a $33 relay and a $0.10 wire, I paid $197.02. $69 service fee. $33 relay. $80 labor for 20 minutes work.

My freezer wasn't cooling properly. I was working with my home warranty policy and the technician they sent over misdiagnosed the problem as a failing compressor. Their technician didn't even pull out my fridge to look at the condenser fan. The technician from Oak Hill correctly identified the problem. He had me get my portable fan and placed it behind the fridge. The freezer immediately started to cool down. A few days later he returned with a new motor and finished fixing my fridge. I was very pleased with Oak Hill's service.

We called Oak Hill Appliance because we had used them before and we had always found them to be honest and fair. They came out to find our dishwasher door was broken. It was cheaper to buy a new dishwasher. The rep recommended other brands for us to purchase that had a much better repair service. I appreciated this.

The company is very prompt and responsive but very expensive. The washer is performing better but still has some issues. Because of the expense I was hoping the repairs would be more effective.

I emailed the company (from the email provided in Angie's List) and they called immediately the next morning (Mon/Tues). I explained the problem the person I spoke with thought it might be a timer and ordered one just in case, but said the tech needed to diagnose the problem exactly, but this way he would have the part (I liked that). They scheduled service for the following Saturday (which I liked) and she told me it would be "between 7am and 1pm and he does start out early." I got up at 6:45 on Saturday morning and then received a call at 10am from the tech telling me he would be there between 1 and 3. He didn't apologize; I'm not sure he even knew she had told me 7-1 so the scheduling was a little "off." He came and replaced the timer, spot tested several cycles which seemed to work fine, but after he left, we realized the washing machine cycles were not functioning properly (different symptom now). I called back and they said it might be a defective timer. We rescheduled for the following Saturday (this time I asked for more exact time frame and got between 10 and 12). He did show up at 11am. It was a defective timer. He replaced it and tested more thoroughly this time and everything is fine. He did not charge anything. My only concern with the charges was the first time he came out, he stayed a total of maybe 20 minutes and the labor was $129.00. I asked for an explanation and they charge $65.00 for "diagnostic" and an hour minimum. I thought that was too much - most waive the service diagnostic charge if you have them repair it. It ended fine, but didn't go as smoothly as I'd hoped. I ended up getting my money's worth on labor but only because they had to come out twice.
