Job went perfectly. Wendell of Johnson & Sons answered my first call personally, he came as scheduled (ran a little later than expected but I had told him I was flexible), brought all necessary tools, equipment and parts, and got the job done. More importantly, he gave me more options than ANY other garage repair contractor. He seems to be very experienced in all aspects of his field. Not one other contractor offered to replace my Wayne Dalton inner spring system with an identical system, they all wanted to convert and refused to replace same with same. Wendell offered me his best opinion, freely shared his knowledge of both options, and let me make my own choice. I ended up choosing to do the conversion after all with Wendell (though replacement of my original system was even more affordable and he holds a high opinion of it). There was no charge for the estimate, he gave me his price over the phone (all but one of the other contractors wanted to charge a fee for the estimate fee and told me a wide price range dependent on what they saw when they came out), his price included all parts and labor, and he made himself readily available. Not only did he offer to do the work the very same day we first spoke, but he did it more affordably than any other contractor had offered. In addition, I showed him that one of my door panels was curving in at the bottom. He said it needed a strut and came as scheduled a couple days later to install it. Again, very affordable, he had all parts, and was effective in resolving the problem. He also tightened some screws that had loosened over the years. It made a world of difference to something that had been bugging me for years. I referred him to my dad who thought his garage button was not working properly. Wendell discussed my dad's concerns with him, gave him the button options, went there as promised, took a look and actually recommended that he keeps what he has. Though he had the new button requested in hand, after checking, he said that dad's existing button is high quality and functioning properly, and that if it were his, he wouldn't change it. He did a little maintenance on his door system by checking and lubricating it and then, per our request, added decorative hardware to his door, too. Finally, I referred him to another friend who later told me he was satisfied with Wendell's visit, though I don't know what was determined. Ultimately, Wendell of Johnson & Sons provided an ultra positive experience. His excellent communication, honesty, knowledge, follow-through, and quality of work exceeded every expectation. He went above and beyond. I do not hesitate to refer him. Garage is looking great and working seamlessly. Very happy customer.
