Jonas Custom Cabinetry

Design went well. Responsiveness and completion was extremely poor. The finished product did meet our needs, however took six months to complete. This was three months past the agreed upon completion. When contacting for updates, there was little to no communications.

We remodeled our kitchen and contracted with Andy to design new kitchen cabinets and add 2 cabinets in our laundry room. This is the 3rd job we have worked with him; the office/library area was completed a couple years ago but this kitchen project and a family room project are currently incomplete. The kitchen project was started in Jan 2010. The quality of the kitchen cabinets are not as good as previous cabinets he has made. There are problems with doors panels that move, stain that doesn't completely cover to the edges of the door panels and wide variations in stain color from door to door. Several doors have not been supplied, glass shelves and glass door inserts, tray shelves, scribe moldings and crown moldings have also not been supplied. Kick plate panels have not been installed. Installation of cabinets was also a major issue; cabinets were said to be made with adjustable feet to account for unlevel floor. Cabinets were instead made with solid wall sections of cabinets extended beyond base to act as "feet" which were difficult to cut down appropriately for floor. Cabinets were installed too high and then re-installed too low. One section of cabinets was not reinstalled and currently sits higher than the rest of the kitchen cabinets. Andy does not arrive on time, misses appointments without calling and does not aim to finish the job in a few visits. Rather, he extends the job over many months, doing a little each time and then asking "if he has done enough to get another payment". It is unfortunate that he doesn't complete his work. Several word-of-mouth referrals were waiting to see if he would finish our kitchen and family room before contacting him regarding kitchen remodels they were interested in having done. The quality of work had gone down and the fact that jobs are not completed has lost him several potential jobs. The cherry cabinets and shelves was the second job we contracted with Andy. The first job was performed a couple years ago: an in-home office/library area which took a long time to complete, but we were happy with the result. So, we contracted the family room in Nov. 2009. It started out fine, but dragged on too long. It is now 8 months after the start of this job and it is not completed. He did not purchase the millwork necessary to make the mantle design and has not supplied the edge moldings. Andy is not returning phone calls. I had to trick him into answering the phone by calling from a phone with a number he did not know as ours. His pattern is to do just enough work to ask for more money "so he can purchase the remaining materials". Unfortunately, we also contracted a 3rd project (new kitchen cabinets) with him while the family room project was ongoing. (See separate rating). The kitchen is also incomplete after 6 months. Andy is never punctual, typically 2 hours late. On 2 occasions he has not shown up for appointments and did not call to let me know he wasn't going to be there. He typically goes a month betwe

Our kitchen is relatively small, but the job took 5 months to complete. Took several tries to match the color that was originally chosen. Repeated excuses for tardiness and poor performance. Andy is a nice man, but just cannot seem to get it done.

He does good work whenever he gets to it. If you call him he states that he can do the work. He then calls the day you agree upon and he stated he can not make it. He constantly reschedules. He has some trim of ours still.

Did fine. Got here and got it done.

He did a very good job of matching the style of the existing cabinetry (simple cottage style with some routing). We also ordered butcher block counter tops, which turned out wonderfully. The hole he cut for the dishwasher was perfect size and he and his crew even made sure the new dishwasher would fit since the unit was sitting nearby anyway. Great work, great experience. I am thinking of having some bathroom remodeling done this fall. Andy will be on the list of bidders for the job.

Excellent service. Andy was prompt and responsive. He gave some very good ideas on how to best utilize the space in my kitchen. Although there were some delays in completing the job beyond the desired date, overall we were very satisfied.

Andy is great to work with & is especially patient with detail changes. On one cabinet, we requested a change from doors to drawers after he had the job completed. He made the change for an additional fee & we are very pleased. The only negative is the job did not get completed on time. However, we plan to have Andy do more work for us because his work is so good & the quality for the cost is incredible. Andy is completely trustworthy. We let him work in our house when no one was home, something we have never let any other contractor do. We highly recommend Jonas Custom Cabinetry.

Mr. Jonas provided a reasonable quote and a time frame he could have the bookshelves made and installed. The workmanship was excellent and he did a great job installing the bookshelves. Unlike other installations, he left no mess and left everything in proper order.

MR. JONAS IS VERY SKILLED AT BOTH CABINETMAKING AND TILE INSTALLATION. HE IS VERY KIND, EASY TO REACH BY PHONE, AND ACCOMPLISHED AT HIS WORK. HE IS VERY INVESTED IN WHAT HE DOES. HOWEVER, HE ALSO GROSSLY UNDERESTIMATED THE AMOUNT OF TIME IT WOULD TAKE TO COMPLETE MY PROJECT (BY SEVERAL MONTHS). HE IS VERY COMPETENT, BUT TIME MANAGEMENT IS NOT HIS STRONGEST SKILL.

THE WORK WAS QUITE WELL DONE. THE PRICE WAS VERY FAIR. WE ARE VERY PLEASED WITH THE EXPERIENCE. ANDY IS VERY EASY GOING AND EASY TO HAVE AROUND.

ANDY JONAS WAS VERY PLEASANT AT EVERY STAGE, INITIAL CONTACT, ESTIMATING THE JOB, SCHEDULING AND THE JOB ITSELF. HE KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING AND DID AN EXCELLENT JOB.

PLEASANT, EXCELLENT WORK. THE CLEAN UP WAS VERY GOOD. THEY WERE A JOY TO WORK WITH.

REMODELED KITCHEN AFTER PREVIOUS CONTRACTOR LEFT IT HALF DONE. MADE CUSTOM MADE CABINETS. INSTALLED NEW LIGHTING AND OVER RANGE MICROWAVE. DID A GREAT JOB!

ANDY WAS ON TIME, DID WHAT HE PROMISED AND DELIVERED ON SCHEDULE. IN FACT HE WENT OUT OF HIS WAY TO MEET MY DEMANDING SCHEDULE. I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH HIS WORK OVERALL. THE PRICE WAS VERY REASONABLE.

HE BUILT BEAUTIFUL BOOK SHELVES. I AM QUITE SATISFIED.

ANDY BUILT A SET OF CUSTOM CABINETS AND SHELVES IN AN ALCOVE IN OUR FAMILY ROOM. THE CABINETS AND SHELVES ARE BEAUTIFULLY STYLED. THE WOOD IS GORGEOUS. HE DID AN EXCELLENT JOB OF MATCHING THE WOODS THAT WERE ALREADY IN THE ROOM. THE ONLY HITCH WAS THAT DELIVERY WAS DELAYED BY 6 WEEKS FROM HIS ORIGINAL ESTIMATE, BUT HE GAVE ME A DISCOUNT FOR THE DELAY.
