I hired Jose based on his 5.0 rating, and I regret it deeply. That rating is completely inaccurate, either fake or based on limited jobs. He did a terrible job painting two rooms: no prep work, didn’t sand or prime, paint was dripping everywhere, and now it's already peeling. He painted over wall stickers, cut into the carpet and left the debris stuck to fresh paint, and even got paint on my shower door, faucets, and sink. When I asked him to fix it, he showed up unannounced, became verbally aggressive, and yelled at me after I taped the areas (which he told me to do). He brought an unlicensed helper, and I later learned he's not even licensed in MN, which is required for work like this. This man is unprofessional and deceptive. I paid $1,500 in cash, well above average, expecting professional work. Instead, I got a mess and intimidation. Do not trust the rating. Avoid Jose Gutierrez.

Several years ago I painted our living room strawberry red and the dining room a bright green - must have been a phase. Last week we met Jose through Angi’s and he offered to come out the next day and start the job. We wanted to change the color to a light yellow and white. Our house is 98 years old- there were cracks in the plaster and lumps and bumps that were unsightly. There was wallpaper trim that needed to be removed. In 2 days, Jose and his wonderful assistants transformed our house and even did our bathroom for only an additional $150.00. It’s like living in a new house!

Jose Gutierrez exceeded my expectations in every way. His attention to detail, care for our home as if it were his own, and quiet humor are remarkable. His price is below what others quoted me. He is fast yet never careless. And he's someone I quickly grew to trust deeply, which is important when you're spending days on end together. He first transformed our new-to-us home that had wildly different colored (poorly painted at that) walls and doors. They now look fresh, new, and welcoming. Months later we brought him back to paint the house and garage. Looks like a new home! He & his team are truly wonderful.
