Anthony close from judah paving is an absolute con artist. He knows how to talk the talk to convince you into using his services. They started and tore out the whole drive way on day one. Said they would be back to lay gravel the following day. A week later and we hadn't heard from, not for lack of trying mind you. Not a call or text from him. Finally got ahold of him and he started responding by saying oh we'll be there tomorrow, then the next day and so on and so forth. About 1.5 wks later they showed up to lay gravel. The next 4wks he spent giving us the run around. We'll be here next Monday, then Wednesday, then the next day and so on and so forth. Finally we told him we were gonna file a BBB complaint and he said ok we'll be there Thursday BUT it's gonna cost you an extra XXXX amount. This was almost DOUBLE the agreed upon amount. The asphalt companies are closing for the season in a couple days and unfortunately our hands were tied. But I don't want anyone else to go through this pain and stress. This is NOT a man of his word! I can't believe he calls himself a pastor and a man of God when he isn't even a man of his word!

"In my defense I never had a contract with any of these people that gave a review.... On this specific job there was a change order I never even seen these two women.... I spoke and dealt directly with the husband and he offered extra money because he himself dug out a extra foot of stone area after I tore out driveway... in that area was a huge rock that couldn’t be lifted with my machine/ bobcat, after talking to the customer we agreed to dig deeper and try to bury the rock. I applied stone immediately after I tore out driveway. Once I was done the husband told me to pick up check from wife and when I got there she cursed me out was very racist and told me her husband knew they had a project in the house that they were doing and he knew they couldn’t afford to do the driveway now she can’t go see her mother in father out of town for Thanksgiving....... This lady has serious issues and everything I charged the husband agreed I never talked to the wife until I picked up checks , the first check she gave me the wrong date, I called the husband and he said his wife is mad at him, the second check had two names on it..... finally the night of the 17th he gave me a check after 7pm.... once I seen this I called the husband and told him I can give him back every dime and tear the driveway back out and they can go out of town to see his in-laws....."

Friends Beware- if a man comes around and tries to sell you a new driveway HE IS NOT A MAN OF HIS WORD! he will promise to do the job for 1 price, immediately rip your driveway up then you will spend the next 3 weeks chasing him down to complete the job. He will tell you he needs you to double the money to complete the job. The asphalt companies are closing for the season and you may or may not get the driveway completed. We paid the price to get the driveway completed but I pray you will spread the word to protect others this man is a shiester. JUDA PAVING his name is Anthony Close

"Good morning world , This review is from the wife whom I never seen or spoke to until the husband which is the only one I dealt with through this whole process.... If there is a change order it’s my right to inform the customer that it’s gonna be a up charge and it’s the customer’s right to agree or negotiate or disagree.... The husband seen the entire job and just to be clear the worst thing you can do is pave a driveway that is pumping when you can literally walk on the driveway and it’s going up and down like a trampoline... I will always insure myself so I don’t have to come back to a customer house 5 years in the future because I paved the driveway too early..... In my defense the husband and wife should have agreed to do driveway before he said yes , mind you the customer said no all the way till the day I completed a neighbors driveway and he loved it and said I have to do his..... Not my fault that the husband trumped the wife on this project.... I talked to the husband yesterday and told him I am willing to give money back and tear out driveway nothing is free, his response was no, you have your money, and I love the driveway, see what it was is that the husband wanted a new driveway for his elderly mother that lives with him and to be honest I truly understand I will pick my mom over someone else’s mom also ... My mom is dead I wish I could call her and say I love you.... I must say this after the wife cuss me out and said they couldn’t afford driveway"

Tony is a great salesman. The driveway had a sink hole towards the end of the driveway. He was to "Excavate 350 square feet of driveway for the sink hole area and cut out area near the garage, sidewalks to ensure they met cleanly. He was to remove the debris, apply #2 crush stone in excavated area (sink hole), then apply #1 crush stone on top of the #2 crush stone, then rake it to a smooth level base, then roll it and compact it with a vibratory roller and let sit for a few days till no more then two weeks depending on how soft the area is…. If area is stable we can proceed if I , the contractor and the customer agrees that we can move forward. Apply Binder on stone areas and roll it, then apply 7 fine top over entire driveway, Roll entire driveway to a smooth finish and a 7 year warranty on excavated area." He came over to do the cutting and asked for $100 cash to "pay his guy". This was on a friday. He said he would be back the next day to excavate and drop stone. Then he asked for $2000 deposit for the materials (aka stone, ashphault). On saturday, he sent me a picture of a hospital bracelet that he was in the hospital but released. He committed to monday. No one showed. After the cuts, we had to chase him for the excavation. His guys eventually showed up to do the excavation but without understanding the job and without confirmation of their arrival date/time. It was hard to arrange to have someone at the house because there was terrible follow-through and notice. When I inquired as to where he was that day that his "guys" needed guidance, he said he was getting stone and would be there momentarily. When they all left there was no stone. That was the last he was at the house. He also kept inquiring about my neighbors signing on and asked for neighbor phone numbers. The driveway was left excavated in 4 spots - one the width of the garage. Communication was either non-existent or through text only. He would not return calls or respond to texts. When he did here or there, he said he had health issues. I acknowledged his plight, but I was in a mess and needed to know what to plan on. He stopped answering calls, he would text he'll "be there tomorrow", wouldn't show, until I begged him that if he could just tell me if he couldn't complete it, to refund me and I would try to make other arrangements. The weather in Oct is unpredictable and the season was ending. After another week, he finally responded to a text after I called his phone a number of times. He texted that he was in the hospital and would call me from the hospital phone. When I called the hospital, they informed me he was discharged. When I texted him that clearly he wasn't in the hospital, he then told me he was in the ED. This was horribly stressful. He kept saying he would call me, but didn't. Kept saying he would be there, but no showed. No materials were delivered. I told him he could keep $200 for the 2 hours of excavation plus the 100 I had already given him so he needs to return $1800. He told me he is a preacher with his own church. I don't think a preacher would act this way. Do not use this man. You will be left with a partially done job, he disappears, doesn't show when he says he will, doesn't call when he says he will, took my money for materials which never arrived and left me with a mess for 2 weeks. I eventually had to pay another contractor as an emergency - which meant the entire job cost me more than it should have. I am out either way and asked nicely and then demanded my money back. Of course, he said he would call me. That was 5 days ago. Still waiting. It was unacceptable and uncalled for. A terrible experience. I trusted Angi's list for vetting. I never expected such a horrific experience. If the health issues were real and true, then communicating would have been more forthright, reasonable, and professional.

"Hello as I see Ms. [Member Name Removed] wrote a long list things she had a problem with , base on timing when you remove asphalt from a driveway the driveway should sit for at least two weeks, this is what you can ask any asphalt specialist..... I have paperwork that I was in the hospital for at least 2 to 3 days a week for the last month because of high potassium issues and hemo dialysis..... At the time she text me and I said I was in the hospital I was I was in the emergency waiting it was over 50 ppl waiting to be seen once I got checked in I was admitted immediately after my labs came back.... Also Ms. [Member Name Removed] called her credit Card company and disputed her 2000.00 deposit, and it now has my PayPal account negative and I’m trying to figure out how to upload a screenshot of my PayPal account. I am willing to give her back some of her deposit I did have 3 laborers in Total the first day I had a labor go over and professional saw cut 5 areas nice and neat on her driveway, the next day I had a dump truck two laborers, a 310 backhoe machine , which I removed her debris... My total time at her house was more than 3 hours and that’s for sure, my church has nothing to do with this job. I did nothing wrong to Ms. [Member Name Removed] did not want to wait... Let me ask a question if a customer has sink hole in their driveway and you dig it out , should a contractor replace the asphalt immediately? Right exactly allow customer to ride on driveway let it settle and then see if more stone is needed.... I understand we as contractors can’t please everyone but I am the contractor and I’m not going to rush work and it sinks again and then I’m back at your house doing charity work.... Let’s all respect each other here. My life was at stake and if need be I can have my doctor contact Angie list and or anybody else that needs this confirmation.... I always want the customer satisfied once I seen she disputed the transaction I stop responding because clearly my PayPal account is negative over 1900.00 dollars.... I have proof..."

I hired Judah Paving to do a tear out and replace my asphalt driveway. They came and tore out my driveway on Sunday September 12, 2021. They were supposed to come back on Monday September 13, 2021, and complete the job. However, I never heard from him so I called him and he said that he would be here the next day, Tuesday and that he wanted the ground to settle. He then said he would be here the next day Wednesday, and he never showed. It is Thursday and I am now looking for someone to complete my job. He has the worst customer service skills and integrity, and I would never refer him to anyone or advise them to use this company. I cannot believe that he is listed on Angies List.
