They did a perfect job. I’m very happy with their level of service. The helped me with some interior and exterior painting. It started off as a small job, but I called them out several times to do some other work (I have a big house). I am very happy with their work and will use them again in the future.

I am more than satisfied with their work. I’ve had several jobs completed in the past by this company and he is the only painter I will use in the future. Everyone else you have to pick up after, but Jose is a perfectionist and has a great eye for detail.

Pricing and quoting went by very smooth. He gave a detailed plan of how he would get things done and an accurate time frame. He is very attentive to detail and knowledgeable. Trims had to be replaced as well as windows and they turned out great. Would definitely hire again as well as recommend to others in look of getting work done.

The service was render the date that I expected. The owner was a nice person he undertood all my needs. He even paint my kitchen door even when I forgot to mention it at first and he was all ready done. I really appreciated that gesture.

This is one of the worst contractor experiences we've had. We called well ahead to schedule as we needed the work done at a very specific time to prepare our house to sell. Despite that, no one showed up the first day at all. My husband had stayed up half the night moving furniture, removing doors, etc. to get everything ready. There was no phone call to let us know. They also didn't show up the third day, again without a call or explanation. The owner first said the work would be done by midday Thursday. At 4pm Friday I was literally shooing them out the door as I was an hour late for previously scheduled plans. We could have dealt with all of the above if the job was done well, but that was not the case. I repeatedly asked them to be extra careful with our brand new cork floors, but kept finding drips and spray marks, and even one time found a paint can lid turned upside down dripping all over the floor. They used a sprayer for EVERYTHING, including all trim. We had paint sprayed on doors, door handles, carpet, windows, expensive teak furniture, and our CAR, which was parked in the garage near one of the doors they were working on. I even asked if I should move it, but they said not to worry. They sprayed paint all over the ceiling, and we didn't have touch up to correct the mess (which we had let them know ahead of time). They tried to concoct some color by blending different paints we had in the house, but it looked awful. That's when I refused to pay the full amount and told them they needed to leave. The crew was nice enough, but the owner was shady. I do not recommend this company if you want reliable service and a job done right.

6/17/17 1:17 pm: I called Jose to officially award job. Agreement was made that job includes wall preparation to include fixing all holes in drywall and replacing 2 window sills, priming and painting of living room, kitchen, and all trim. Price was set at $2100 which includes $700 for materials and supplies. Agreed start date is 7/5/17 and Jose agreed to be at house between 7:30 and 8:00 am on that date. 7/5/17 8:08 am: I called Jose because he had not shown up by the agreed time. He answered the phone in that sleepy voice that indicates that one was still not really awake. At that point Jose claimed to be at another job that he needed to finish but agreed to meet me at the house at 11:00 am. 7/5/17 12:25 pm: I called Jose because he had not shown up by the agreed time. He claimed that he was still finishing up the previous job and stated that he didn’t think he would be able to start our job until Friday, 7/7/17. I reminded him that his estimate was that this was a 4 day job and that I have carpet installers scheduled for Monday. Starting on Friday would not allow him sufficient time to finish my job before the carpet arrived. He agreed to call me that evening when he could review his calendar and re-schedule. That evening: Jose did not call. 7/6/17: Jose did not call. 7/7/17 8:15 am: Jose and his assistant arrived at my house and stated that they were ready to start the job. I reluctantly allowed them into the house to start the job. I cancelled my appointments for the day. I gave Jose a check to cover the material and supply purchase. Jose and his assistant worked throughout the morning to repair all drywall holes, mask floors and windows. 12:00 pm: Jose stated that they were done for the day because the texture product needed to dry before being sanded. He said they would return the next morning between 7:40 and 8:00 am. 7/8/17 9:13 am: I called Jose because he had not shown up by the agreed time. He did not answer but arrived at the house a few minutes later. He first stated that he was late and giggled and then asked where his assistant was and I replied that I had not seen him. His assistant showed up about 9:45 am. 7:00 pm: Jose and I discussed the remaining schedule. I informed him that carpet installation would be on Tuesday so he could come in on Monday to continue painting. He said that that would work better because the trim paint (that he was still spraying at 7 pm) would still be wet on Sunday morning and so he didn’t want to be taping on top of it at that time. He said he would be there by about 8 am. 7/10/17 9:37 am: I called Jose because he had not shown up by the agreed time. He said that he was coming but wouldn’t be there until about 10:30. 11:45 am: I called Jose because he had not shown up by the previously stated time but got his voice-mail. I left a message stating that due to his not showing up he is fired from the job. 1:07 pm: Jose left a message on my voice-mail that he had arrived at my house and wanted to know if I was coming to let him in. 6:12 pm: I sent an email to Jose to officially inform of the reason for his termination and to offer a settlement that would get him paid for the work he did and get me the product that I had paid for. 7/11/17 11:11 am: Jose called to see if he could come over to discuss the situation. I let him know that I had an appointment and had to leave by 12:30 but he was welcome to stop by if he could get there before I left. 12:00 pm: Jose came to house. He apologized for not meeting my expectations and asked to get the job back. I said that I would think about it and would let him know later in the day. 6:23 pm: I called Jose to let him know that I had decided against letting him continue. We agreed that I would pay him $500 for the work that had been completed and he would bring the paint that he had purchased to complete the job. 7:30 pm: Jose came to the house. I gave him a check for the $500 and he gave me the paint. We shook hands and parted ways.

Throughout a few days before the agreed date for the painting I called, left messages, emailed and messaged José to touch base and get a start time. He did not respond to any of these messages. He never showed up to do the work and I have never since heard from him. I'm currently trying to get my money back from Angies List so I can hire another painter before I have carpets installed.

Excellent job done JV painting. We're really pleased. Excellent job. I thought they were really good. The pricing was good. The reason we put the card aside is for when anybody that needed work done, we got the card for them.

The prep and painting were excellent and the price was reasonable. However, JV did not arrive at the agreed time and did not call to let me know they would be several hours late.

Ventura and his crew did an excellent job. They worked around my schedule and were professional in their communication and the work they performed. Ventura did not consider the job complete until the job was done to my satisfaction. I would highly recommend JV Painting and would definitely hire them again.

It went well. I would hire him again, and I'm picky. The good: His prices are FAR below other painters, and his professionalism is better than many inexpensive painters. He used good quality paint, did two coats, and made very careful lines along the ceiling and between rooms. We have bullnose corners. He taped everything carefully and didn't get paint on light switches, etc. The few things he did get paint on, he cleaned. The bad: He is very polite in person, but somewhat difficult to communicate with over the phone. He is not quick to respond to texts (likely because he is working all the time), but he was quick to come over and give an estimate. If he said he would arrive at 8 or 8:30 am, it might be 9, but we work from home, so this is not a problem for us. He did show up on the days he said he would. I had to ask for a written estimate, and then he did provide one. I wrote some details on there - the brand of paint I preferred, plus some more details than he included. Because of the communication issues, i would say he was a little less professional than some larger paint companies I have worked with, but in person, he and his workers were nice and respectful. Thus the B rating. The biggest problem we had resulted from us having the ceilings painted. He said he would drape everything, but he only draped down to about two feet above the floor, so a bunch of paint dust got on my boots and other things in my closet. I was able to wash the paint dust off of most things, but I would say either closely monitor the draping or move your stuff out of the room where he's painting. The other downside is that he's not great at estimating. He was overly ambitious about how much work he'd be able to do in a day. I thought the amount of time it took was reasonable for the amount of work and attention to detail required, but he was here late at night and a day longer than he planned. Bottom line: he fixed his mistakes, was polite, was quick, had good attention to detail. EXCELLENT VALUE.
