I text her Sunday, January 8th, 2023, to ask when they are coming back to finish the jobs. She text me back stating that she has an opening on Friday, January 13, 2023. I then text her later and said that I just sent her an email concerning some things I need from her regarding her work and supplies and things. I realized I was being scammed about the 1,200.00 I gave her for supplies and materials, after the fact she never gave me the receipts or a list of supplies and after all what could she possible have bought for that kind of money to fix a leaky sink and a bathroom ceiling. Plus, I was very concerned with the mold in the ceiling and what she did with it. I understand it is very dangerous to have the mold in the ceiling plus the fact I am highly allergic to it. So, I decided to ask for what she must provide me in order for her to continue working for me. I sent her a text telling her that I sent her an email concerning things I needed from her regarding her work and supplies and things. It was as follows: Hi Keitha, I have a few things that I need to have from you so I can completely understand what has been done so far by you regarding the projects I asked you to complete: The MASTER BATHROOM CEILING: 1. I need a statement of what was the exact problem that led to water marks on the ceiling, what happened exactly to cause the water marks and what did you do to correct the cause of the leak. 2. You told me that there was mold inside the ceiling when you opened it, what did you do with the mold? Did you clean it out? The GUEST BATHROOM SINK 1. The sink is still not functioning correctly, i tried it today and the water doesn’t go down. it has pooled in the sink. a. what did you do to fix the sink b. why didn’t you tell me the condition you left the sink after being here yesterday? Why did YOU ASK FOR MORE MONEY FROM ME? 1. i want all the receipts and statement of what you bought and how much each item cost and all the receipts for each item I wrote out an initial check for 600.00 #543 on 12/29//2022 for all supplies (you told me the entire projects’ cost is 1200.00). You cashed the check immediately, but I have not seen any of the receipts as yet. Then, on 12/31/2022, when you opened the ceiling and worked on the sink, you said you needed another $600.00 to properly fix the ceiling ($300.00 item) and the sink in the guest bathroom (another 225.00 item). I have not seen any receipts for either of these items and I asked you for them when I wrote the check for the extra $600.00 - (check # 545 dated 12/31/2022).: WHEN YOU NEXT COME, PLEASE BRING THE FOLLOWING WITH YOU: 1. BRING ALL THE RECEIPTS, 2. THE STATEMENT ABOUT THE CEILING, AS ASKED ABOVE 3. A STATEMENT ABOUT EVERY ITEM YOU BOUGHT AND ITS COST AND WHAT YOU USED THE ITEM FOR AND ATTACH THE RECEIPTS TO THIS STATEMENT. THIS INCLUDES THE ADDITIONAL ITEMS YOU HAD ME GIVE YOU ANOTHER $600.00 FOR. Thanks so much! When I asked her via text on Thursday, what time will she be arriving on Friday, she did not reply. I asked her again, no reply. She never showed on Friday, I text her that she is not to return to my house. She never responded to my email requesting the above information! I called Angi to file a complaint. CONCLUSION AND REQUEST: It is obvious, that the money I gave her in the sum of $1,200 for supplies and materials was a scam and a con job because: 1. I never received the request for receipts and list of supplies bought by her 2. And what could have cost $1,200.00 in supplies for 3 small jobs? I am requesting that I am refunded the $1,200.00 that she conned out of me for supplies and materials that were never verified as having been bought. I do not believe she bought anything worth $1,200.00. It was obviously a con-job and a scam to get cash from me. Additionally, she did a poor job on the ceiling, which will have to be reopened to fix and to see what caused the leak and what she did with the mold. She not only did not fix the bathroom sink but she made it worse by putting in a high rim around the drain that did not allow all the water to go down. She is obviously not up to either job and may have even conned Angi into thinking she was experienced as a handyman. You will need to vet people much more diligently because you are stating that they are trustworthy and good workers and as a consumer we rely on that statement of trustworthiness. In this case, that has failed completely!
