Kevin is always up front and honest. He gives you all the info needed about anything you take to be repaired. He will tell you how much it costs to fix it and if it is even worth fixing. I will always use him for all my lawm mower/small engine service! <br />

I was impressed with his efficiency and candor. He was also helpful in directing me toward lawn tractors that I should consider for my next purchase. It was a pleasant surprise when he stated he was going to make sure I got a refund of the $50 spent on the special offer. <br />

"Thank you for taking the time to provide a review of us, they are very helpful as we strive for exceptional service at fair pricing and reviews help assess how we are doing in the customers eyes. If I recall correctly, your machine came to us non running and we found the rocker arms had become dislodged. We found a bend pushrod and the camshaft was damaged, an expensive repair. We advised that the value of the Yard Machine's unit did not justify the cost of the repair but we would be glad to do so if they felt it was worth it to them. We agreed that the machine would not be repaired and would be scraped to our junk yard where it still sits. It is always hard to give such news to our customers as those machines are very costly, we always hope it will be a simple, inexpensive repair but unfortunately they do fail catastrophically once in a while. We strongly recommend the use of quality full synthetic oil and a maximum of 50 hours or one year changes, a quality, properly installed air filter and quality fuel for the longest possible engine life. Even so, we still see failures such as this once in a while without good reason why. Best of luck with your new machine sir and we hope to see you again! Kevin"

Dropped machine off with note (he said he would not be there when we called). While we were gone he performed a tune on our mower. It was ready within 5 hours or so. <br />

Found Kevin's on Angie's List. My Ariens snowblower was leaking gas, the augers were sticking and it needed service. I dropped it off to Kevin just a few days after calling him. No three week wait needed. Kevin fixed the problems and tuned up the engine. He even retapped and tightened the handlebars. Only took a few days. Machine is now running great and I will certainly use Kevin's services again when I need them. Price was completely fair for great service! <br />

Can't ask for better - full service, oil change with synthetic, adjusted and lubed all controls, new plug, greased the gearbox, cleaned carburetor, lubed the sticking chute crank.

My 8 year old Sears Craftsman GT 5000 died on me a couple of weeks ago. I called Kevin on a Thursday morning, and he to bring it over and he could work on it right away. I brought it to Kevin's that afternoon. On Friday he performed a complete servicing of the tractor (spark plugs, oil and oil filter, fuel filter, greased all fittings and even sharpened the 3 lawn mower blades), and only charged me 1 extra hour of labor (plus the cost of the part) to diagnose and replace the broken fuel pump that was the reason the tractor stopped running. <br /> I picked it up on Saturday. That was the fastest turnaround I have ever had on a piece of broken machinery. <br /> Kevin is very honest, he volunteered the information that there would be 25% discount on this first job since we found him on Angie's list. <br /> The tractor runs great now, and Kevin was a pleasure to do business with. I highly recommend him. <br /> As a matter of fact, I was so happy with his work, that when I went to pick up the tractor I brought him my snow blower to service, and my DR trimmer (which wasn't working). <br />

After being ripped off by another prominent repair facility in Eliot, who also repairs small engines, I was determined to find someone more competent and reasonable in cost. Boy, was I glad I found Kevin. He is one of the rare people in life who does what he does because he truly enjoys it, and goes the extra mile to do things right. He did a tremendous amount of work and got my tractor running like new again - which it has not in over six years. He charged me a very fair price, and likely way less than other places would have. He is an absolutely superb techinician who I hope to have working on my tractor for many years to come. Take your business to Kevin and you will be very, very pleased with the care he takes, the work he performs, and the reasonable cost.

I called Kevin when I saw his listing and reviews on Angie's List. Not only did his business have high-marks from previous reviewers, but he was offering discounts/deals! I called him and made arrangements to drop off my machines on a Wednesday. By Friday, he called me and told me that both of them were ready for pick-up! When I went to pick them up, he explained in detail what he had done to repair them and showed me the parts that he had replaced (I really like this way of verifying services performed). He was friendly and helpful throughout my interactions with him, and he didn't mind that it took me a few extra days to arrange for pick-up. I would definitely recommend this business to others in the future!

I was snowblowing my driveway and noticed that the machine was leaving snow behind and pulling to the right and also the wheels were not turning and I had to help it along by pushing. I called a friend of mine and he told me he had his lawn tractor repaired at Kevins small enigine and that he did a great job. I called Kevin and he was able to take it in that day. When I got there he looked it over and gave me as estimate and said he would call me the next day. He called me the next morning at 9am and said that the machine was all fixed and the price was $25 less than the original estimate. When I got there I noticed the machine looked like new and there were several things repaired that I didn't ask fo,r done at no extra charge. He said it was part of the service <br /> <br /> When i got home I cleaned up the rest of snow and it worked better than it has in years...it was like new again!!! I strongly recommed Kevins small enigine and tractor service to anyone that needs repairs or service. I will be doing buisness with again!

Great experience. Kevin did a fantastic job getting my riding mower back running. He is incredibly knowledgeable about all kinds of engines including snow blowers. When I picked my mower up I hardly recognized it as it was spotlessness clean. Nice man and would use him again in a heartbeat. You can sometimes judge peoples work habits by their environment and when you see Kevin's well organized shop you would understand his great working habits. Thank goodness for Angies List or I would never have found him!

I have a 20 year old tractor that I like very much, and we've done many jobs together, so when the problems started my wife told me that it was time to buy a new one. I found that a comperable tractor was going to cost about two thousand dollars, I told my wife that I was sure I could fix old "alfie" (that's what I call my old tractor)......that I could fix it for much less. She told me that if I was going to put any money into that old tractor, that I would need to go on Angies list and find a good repair shop to fix it. So that is exactly what I did and where I found "Kevins Small engine and lawn mower repair". I called him that night and told him all the things wrong with my Ariens tractor and asked if he had any idea what it would cost to fix it, he said he couldn't be sure without looking all the parts up, but he'd guess about 500 dollars. I asked him if that was for everything, he said yes, I said that sounded great and made an appt. to leave it with him that next day. <br /> I left it the next morning and asked him to give me a call once he had a definate price so I would know what to expect for sure. He called at about noon that day and told me that, depending on the labor, it would be no more than 450 dollars (which turned out to be just about right on). Later that day he called and told me that he needed to drive to Portland ME. to get one of the parts he needed for the steering and that he wouldn't be able to finish it until the next day because of the long drive he had to make that day to pick up the part. I asked him if that would be extra, he said no as he was planning a trip up that way later that next week and would just conduct that business while he was there later today.........I couldn't believe that, it seemed to me that he was making a special trip, but he assured me that he wasn't. <br /> Kevin called me at 11am the next day and told me that it was all done and I could pick it up at any time. I asked him for the final price, he said it was 445 dollars..........over 10 percent lower than the original estimate, which I thought was low as it was. <br /> This guy is definately a downeaster, right from small town Maine. He talks with a northeast accent and is quite pleasant to listen to, and his genuine personality is only supassed by his honesty which is easy to spot the moment you meet this guy......he's great.

A friend of mine referred me to this company/person. He is a retired chap with 30 years? experience working on small engine equipment as well as a collector of older garden tractors. He has no signage nor does he advertise and by the looks, he does not need to. <br /> I called him and he was very nice and listened well to my problem. He provided plenty of advice over the phone to head me down the correct road but in the end, I realized I was over my head. We spoke again and he suggested I bring the machine in for him to repair. My problem was that my Craftsman tractor would not start. I requested that the no start problem be addressed and then provide an estimate. He called the next day, said he found a mouse nest under the engine cover and it had eaten the ?kill? wire, and gave me a price of 45 dollars to repair. I was pleased at that so I asked him to give it a tune up, check the belts, blades and change the oil and give it good going over as it had not been serviced for several years. <br /> He called me the next day and recommended a drive belt replacement to which I agreed. He called me two days later and let me know the tractor was finished. In the end, he repaired the kill wire and removed the mouse nest, replaced the spark plug, adjusted the "valve clearance", changed the oil and filters with Mobil 1 synthetic oil, a fuel filter, air filter and oil filter, replaced the drive belt and sharpened the blades. He also replaced a headlight bulb and the total price was extremely reasonable. The machine has run beautifully since. He has no signage so you will need to speak to him to find it, which is very easy as it is on the main road, route 236, about 2 miles south of town. I highly recommend him. He is honest and very reasonable. The number is 207-251-6954. This is a great one man operation that you only come across by word of mouth.
