Kirk was so professional and his experience in construction and carpentry really came thru with the final results. I am very happy with my cabinets! Would definitely work with Kirk again! Thanks for making my utility room functional and good looking!

He had me sign a contract which basically gave him 3/4 of money up front for supplies (some $20 backerboard & labor costs.). I was under heavy medication (hydrocodone and flexaril) from a horse accident and should not have signed any contracts. He told me he gave me a Angie List discount but did not. The 5% discount he gave me was if I did the kichen and bath jobs together.

We had agreed to have kitchen countertops replaced w/ granite for me to purchase whole slab. Also agreed to tearout existing white tile , replace kitchen sink plumbing and install, replace backsplash with my tile provided. Also, remove cooktop and replace after granite install. Hook up of stove vent , all plumbing, replace existing cooktop and hook back up.. Also, bathtub was to be made into a combo shower with new tile. I was to provide plumbing and keep tub.

He did replace my kitchen granite countertops & install new sink & plumbing. He also took off back splash tile in bath surround. He broke my cooktop which was 1-2 yr old and did not replace. Later, he did offer to do extra work for approximate $450 negotiated for the breakage. However, a new cook top replacement ,(not same quality I had) cost me $600 and install of $100. I previously had 3 double burners. The new one only has one double burner and dials are hard to read. He dropped a hammer in the tub with two small dents. Later, he said he would try and repair but still not done. The rest of my slab could not be stored and was already used up by the other vendor. I could have used that for a later job . I lent him my SUV to help him out when his transportation was an issue for a week. Time lapses have occurred due to my husband's surgery, my illness, and visits to GA to see my 93 yr old mom. This is not the problem but Kirk does not contact me in a timely manner whether it be phone calls or emails. Kirk's last communication was dated December 12 where he wrote he received my last email but would get back with me in 3 days. This did not happen again. At this point, I would like $2500 back or do labor in the yard.

"A contract was signed (just as I do on all my jobs), but was voided 3 days after she and I signed it by not picking out her tile for her backsplash in the kitchen and the bathroom tile in the agreed upon amount of time. I have been out there with my crew 6 times (almost an hour drive for me) and had to turn around as soon as we got there because the tile was not available like she had promised. Still to this day (almost a year later) she has still not picked out her tile. All the remaining job entailed was a small backsplash and her tub area. She received all new granite and a nice oversized stainless kitchen sink (which she loved at the time). I do still owe her work for the mishap on the cook top and would be more than willing. While I was waiting on the parts to come in to repair the old one, she went out and bought a new one. She says she doesn't like her new one, but she picked it out and had it installed without me knowing about it. She has complained to me multiple times that she doesn't like it, but I was getting her old one fixed, which was a nice 5 burner. Only one of the elements was not working. It would not make sense for me to pay the money for her new one. I'm am sorry about how this job as gone south and have tried multiple times to complete the job to ensure her satisfaction."

It took Kirk a few days to respond, which seemed strange to me at first. But the other contractors I called also had the same delay. I needed this project done quickly and they provided me quick service by coating the doors and hanging them also. A few of the doors had minor runs, which they fixed immediately. When the doors were hung, we had to straighten a few after they had gone since 3 or 4 were crooked.
Response from Keystone Cabinets
"I personally adjusted every door there, I might understand 1 being a little off cause a few of the doors were out of square and you can only adjust so much, plus I really hung the doors for free just to get the job for my painter"

He came out to the house and measured the cabinets in the garage and then said he would get back to me. He got back to me 2 days later with a reasonable bid and I said "ok, lets get it done." I really like the doors because they are the adjustable cabinets with a quiet shut (they slowly shut). Kirk even made them a little higher so I could put more shelves in them. They look great and I was able to organize the room so there is not any clutter in this room like before.
We chose Kirk because of his excellent reviews on Angie's List, and because of his response to a less than perfect review as well. His passion for getting the work done to please the customer convinced us to have him bid on our project.
Kirk came on time and listened to what we thought we wanted, and submitted a plan to scale. At that point we realized we had been a bit over ambitious, and we asked him to scale down our plans. He did so and resubmitted the plan and estimate in a very timely manner. We were very pleased with the plan and the price and gave him the go ahead.
He accurately estimated the time it would take to do the project. When he was part way through he called and we went to see the cabinets and see the stain samples he had made for our job. We loved what we saw. The stain was perfect.
He finished the project well within the time he estimated and installed the cabinets paying close attention to detail. They are beautiful! They are even better than we imagined and suit their purpose exactly. These custom cabinets make the whole room look complete. I smile every time I walk by them.
We will definitely use Kirk again. His craftsmanship is top notch and he is all about pleasing the customer. He is also very reliable about calling to let us know about his progress and showing up on time. We have found that getting all of those qualities in the construction industry is really quite rare.
Working with Kirk was great. He did quality work at a fair price. The match on the trim is perfect, making the new drawers blend seamlessly into the existing kitchen cabinetry. The rocking chair he fixed (again, perfectly) was one I had been told by another vendor was irreparable.
Kirk listened carefully to what I wanted and worked hard to stay within my budget. For example, at my request, he let me do my own painting of the drawers and doors to save money. Also at my request, he cut the new shelves to their exact dimensions but let me do the simple installation.
I will definitely be calling Kirk for future work.
I had a family heirloom vanity that badly needed the top refinished. I had found a headboard with an unusual patterned veneer, so I asked if the veneer could be removed from the headboard and applied to the vanity. They did a wonderful job -- and within just a couple days. Everyone who has seen it has said the same thing -- that it's a custom piece that cost thousands!
Kirk replied to the voice message I left on his phone, asking if he did cabinet repairs. I described the problem, told him the approximate age of the cabinets, and told him how I wanted to repair them in order to keep costs down.He tried it my way but warned me it probably wasn't feasible. It wasn't. We went to plan "B", i.e., trying to match the broken material. That didn't work either.I came up with the idea of replacing the broken panels with glass.Kirk followed through and kept me informed throughout. It took longer than he anticipated because the glass company was slow to cut and fit the glass.Kirk came out and installed the doors after getting off another job.

Kirk arrived on time as scheduled for estimate. He had great ideas for improvements but was very flexible with using in-put from us. He gave us an estimate with a time-line and really kept to this throughout the job. He always returned my calls promptly and followed through with any requests, His team always left the kitchen neat and were very considerate with keeping noise and work limited to that area. We are very pleased with the result and will definitely call him again for any other jobs we have.

We were without a kitchen for a week due to his failure to correctly build the wall cabinets. Not fun doing without a kitchen for a week.
Response from Keystone Cabinets
"First, I would like to say that the job went 9 days over due to the female homeowner changing her mind after the cabinets was complete. She decided she did not like the origInal layout, I gave her more space than she was wanting and she did not like it, so therefore I had to replace 10.5 feet of uppers and lowers because I gave them a foot of extra cabinets, I turned the dead space in the corner on the upper section that she hade originally for 35 years into usable space, and she did not like it, I went the extra mile for these customers and it was all thrown back into my face over something I gave them extra for no charge, Of course it takes time to redo 21 feet of cabinets, building, staining and re-installing. I got all those cabinets done in 9 days, which I think is amazing, considering the schedule I had at the time, and they assured me when I left that day that everything was fine and they had no problem waiting up to 2 weeks for there cabinets the way they wanted. When I left the job the final time everybody was happy and satisfied, so I dont know where this bad comment is coming from. I even sat down one evening and ate dinner with them, which they bought, late one evening when I was working over there past 8 o'clock, trying to get there kitchen back in order, I would like this review removed because there are no legitimate reasons why they are putting my company and especially me down over trying too hard. I was taliking with them face to face along this whole journey of their kitchen remodel. Yes, there were some ups and downs, but overall the kitchen turned out beautiful. I will put some before and after pictures on my website and let YOU decide who got the better deal out of all this as it sure was'nt me. Their kitchen turned out BEAUTIFUL. ONCE AGAIN PLEASE REMOVE THERE REVIEW AS IT DOES NOT ACCURATELY REFLECT THE JOB THAT WAS DONE OR THE INTEGRITY OF MY COMPANY. I pride myself on the top notch quality of my work and always strive for customer satisfaction."

When asking for an estimate, they came out quickly and gave me an estimate within a couple of days.

They removed the existing cabinets (3 cabinets over 6 feet tall) and took them to their shop. They did the work requested including some extra trim work to conceal the new top they put on the base unit. The person doing the stain work did an excellent job matching the existing stain. The cabinets came back better than we expected.

The work was done quickly, beautifully, and on estimate.

I started searching the internet for shelving units that would fit my needs but none that I saw would work. I eventually started looking for a carpenter to see if I could get a custom built shelving unit. This is when I found Keystone Cabinets. Emailed Kirk and by the next day had a response and an appt. for an estimate within the week. I told him my ideas and showed him some examples of what I wanted. He gave some input and suggestions. The price was a little expensive but I just wanted to get it done. I also knew that there was nothing else out there. He even said I could see examples of the paint color he wanted to use for my shelving units. I trusted his judgement and I felt he knew what he was talking about, within 2 weeks the shelving units were installed and I am so happy. Even though it was a smaller job in comparison to some of the other things that he has done he handled it professionally and it felt like he cared just as much about this job as he does his other bigger jobs. His guys even rearranged some of the frames that I had hanging in my closet after the units were installed. I will definitely use Keystone Cabinets again especially when I remodel another closet in the house, hopefully sooner rather than later!

We selected Keystone based on a recommendation from a co-worker. Kirk showed up on time to give an estimate and his estimate was reasonable and exactly what we ended up paying. Kirk and his assistants kept informed of progress throughout the work and were puntual and very hardworking. My family and I are very pleased with the results and would not hesitate to hire Keystone Cabinets for any work we needed.

Kirk performed all of the work on-time and on-budget, which is very important when scheduling work on a house construction project. The results are fantastic. The cabinetry is far superier in quality and workmanship to the products you could buy in a home improvement store. Kirk's price was very reasonable compared to prices for stock products and to quotes from several other contractors. Kirk was happy to work with us when we wanted to make changes, and went the extra mile to make sure that we were satisfied. There is nothing like working with a local craftsman on this kind of project. We highly recommend Kirk and Keystone Cabinets. We have decided to get custom woodwork for our master closet, and we have already scheduled Kirk to do the work.

Cabinets with glass built and painted for our dining room. Kirk and company came twice to evaluate the job and altered plans to our specifications. Kirk was very detailed oriented and got just the perfect cabinet look for our older home (built in the 1930's). The caniets are beautiful with flawless paint job. We could not be more pleased with the work.

Consistent with all of the previous work Kirk has performed for us, this job was likewise fantastic and very professional; we couldn't be more pleased. We will definitely continue to use Kirk and Keystone Cabinets for the future carpentry work we have planned in our home, including a remodeling of our study, for which we plan to have custom trim, cabinets, and paneling designed and installed. Kirk is truly a gifted craftsman, and I have told him that he is more than welcome to use me as a reference should any of his future prospective clients need someone to talk with, or if they would like to see the work he performed for me, prior to hiring him to perform their work.

In a word: FANTASTIC. I have too many good things to say about Keystone to include here. In the interest of brevity, I can tell you that Kirk Heyman, the owner of Keystone, has a serious eye for detail and takes great pride in his work product and his customer's satisfaction. Kirk and Keystone are highly diligent, caring, reliable, trustworthy, and honest. Above all, I think the best word to describe the quality of Keystone's work product is "craftsmanship." I found Keystone by accident after my wife and I were basically robbed by a different contractor and we are so thankful that we found Kirk and Keystone. If you are looking for an honest bid, with better than excellent craftsmanship results, then I highly recommend Keystone. Please feel free to contact me personally if you would ever like to inspect or view Keystone's extensive remodeling work at my home.
