I hired Mike Lewis (Keystone Paving) in March 2022 to repave my driveway. I also hired him to install a new culvert in my driveway. He installed the culvert, removed half of the asphalt on my driveway and then walked away. He kept my $5k deposit. He gave me excuses for a year and then said he would refund $2500 but, of course, never did. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. You will be sorry. There are a ton of bad reviews online for him now that I wish had been there when I searched.

Mike did a good job and we were pleased with the results. The price was within reason, and we would definitely recommend him, and use him again.

Our property has a considerable size asphalt driveway and turnaround (over 6,000 SF total) which was approaching 30 years of age. At the time the builder did a minimal install of 1-2 inches asphalt top with a questionable base. In spite of maintaining and sealing as possible, the drive had substantially deteriorated and a large challenge to restore. Pictures are included with sample areas shown. We searched extensively for a technically competent and trustworthy paving contractor to rebuild and improved the driveway/turnaround, and selected Keystone Paving to do the work. Mike (Keystone’s owner/operator) reviewed the situation and recommended a complete tear-up, base (emphasizing), a separate binder course and finish course. Other contractors offered a wide range of ‘interesting’ and similar solutions, but given our experience with Mike, his remarkable references and very competitive pricing we felt Keystone was the way to go. In summary we would not regret our decision. Due to time of year and weather (cold, rainy in late 2018) Mike was still able to remove the old asphalt, correct all of the bad areas, base with 2A (and 3A) modified stone, then install a substantial asphalt binder layer; the goal of achieving quality similar to a public roadway. In 2019 Keystone completed the work, updating binder as needed, then paving with a significant asphalt finish course; in total with absolutely excellent results, both in regards to durability and aesthetically; pictures included here. Mike also corrected the grade to assure proper drainage and drivability, as well as expanding key areas for better utility. They seamlessly and cleanly blended all of the work into the new flagstone walkways, both garages (separate buildings), drains, retaining wall, etc. They treat your property as if their own. Mike was always on site when any work needed to be done or assessed. He is respectful, always acts in the customers best interest and clearly takes pride in the Keystone team’s work; closely manages the entire situation, with proven impressive results. Plus, he has decades of technical experience and knowledge which was invaluable to tap for our particular project; critical given the current conditions and size of the effort. We would be remiss if we didn’t also mention the quality, care and thoroughness of everyone involved from Keystone, each member working diligently together, under Mike’s direction for efficiency and first-class outcome. We are ecstatic about the new driveway & turnaround, have to-date received countless compliments on it and the improvement to curb appeal. In our view, you simply cannot go wrong with Keystone & Mike; we definitely made the best decision, and will absolutely be utilizing Keystone in the future for any follow up efforts (sealing, etc.). Mike was key to the success of the project.

The beginning of the relationship was fine. He showed up on time for an estimate, arrived to begin the work in time. During the tear out phase they broke my walkway railing. We discussed it and he said he would fix it. About three weeks went by and I had to call to see when the asphalt would be laid. Another week passed and they then showed up. (I paid cash up front like an idiot) the did the paving job but I have stone work as a boarder that separates the flower bed and drive way. We spoke about this and having a 3” reveal when they paved. This was not done and 80% of these boarder stone is level with the driveway surface. I have tried to work out a deal with the owner of this company. He has promised everything from fixing the railing, to my fixing and his paying it, to fixing the boarder stone to simply sending me a small refund of 300.00 to handle things. He has done nothing at all to fix the problems his company created. I never ever have written a review but after being jerked around for more that 4 months he needs some potential clients to question why he would treat a client the way he chose to treat me. Stay away, if not hold back 15% of the job for 30 days after the work to ensure satisfaction update 9/19/2018: In reply to the owners comment of mountain out of a mole hill... that says it all. Further it should not matter if the railing was 100 years old. It was not broken or rotted or compromised. His company broke it. Take note that none of the issues were we contested. I have correspondences showing the promises I have listed. I would love to go to his home to perform work and break something and blow it off because “it was Old” and it’s been raining. I own a business and would not be in business long if I treated customers this way. Simply disgusting.

Keystone Paving was a pleasure to work with. Mike was extremely responsive and timely from our initial call through completion of the job. The work was performed quickly and looks outstanding. Keystone's prices were extremely competitive with several different options. I would highly recommend Keystone paving to anyone looking for this type of work. Thank you Keystone Paving.

Keystone Paving did an absolute professional job. Mike the owner of Keystone was on-site for the entire job. Whenever I had an email or phone question, Mike replied quickly. Whenever Keystone said they would be on the job, they were. I would use Keystone again whenever I need Paving or sealcoating work. A very positive contractor - homeowner experience.

There were no significant issues. The work was postponed by a week due to a combination of illness and weather; Mike informed me of all delays. The rest of the crew was very polite. The driveway takes a bit of time to get used to since it looks different from asphalt, but, as mentioned above, the increase in traction is a real plus.

It could not have gone better. I needed the new section to channel water down the driveway away from parts of the yard so they put a curb on one side of the paved section and it works absolutely fantastic. No longer do I have parts of the yard washing away in heavy storms. I love it!!

My driveway was old and starting to break apart. We were in the market for a replacement driveway. Mike at Keystone walked us through the process and procedures step by step for what he was going to do for our new driveway install. He made us feel very comfortable in our selection to use Keystone for our contractor for the new driveway. In addition to replacing the old driveway, we were expanding it as well. This required a large tree stump to be removed, which Mike had no problem addressing for us. Our driveway was dug up and new stone was installed in one day (along with the tree stump). After a few weeks of the stone settling, we noticed that some of the area of the driveway was not settling as it should have. We brought this to Keystones attention. We reviewed the area and both agreed that more stone was required. A few week later the complete driveway was settled and ready for Blacktop. Mike and his team showed up and installed the new driveway in one day. I thoroughly appreciate the attention to details that were brought to the table from Keystone, along with true honesty and straight forwardness.
