After a few days the driveway started to crumble in different areas of the driveway, this was inn October of last year. They informed us that they would fix it but it would not be until March 2020 as we where the last job of the month. Obviously CoVid 19 arrived in March, so we where put on hold until June 2020. We contacted them in June and Patrick Berry eventually came out to inspect the driveway on 7/5/20. He informed me that he would be back within the hour and it would roughly be a 2 hour job to repair the driveway. He never came back... We tried to contact him and the call went straight to voicemail. We called him on different phones and when we introduced ourselves he hung up on both my wife and I. We obviously got this recommendation from Angie's list as well as Home advisor, hence this review as I would not want anyone in our area to be going through this issue. The cost of the job was $9000.00 and it awful. They left a pool of oil, which I seen and informed them about it. I was told it would be absorbed by the driveway, it was but leaves had dropped into the oil, we now have embedded leaves in the driveway. We do have attorney's in the family so we are looking to take them to court, in addition if anyone wants to view the state of my driveway, I will be leaving my address at the end of this review. It has been blasted out on our social media, and we have asked our children to blast it out on there's and we have asked them to blat it out as well. I am the Publisher and Owner of Natural Awakenings magazine, this company will be highlighted in there. If anyone knows of a company who lists unprofessional contractors, please reach out. We have also ordered bandit signs, these are the same signs they put in your property when they are doing a job, ours read: HIGH SPEC PAVING DO NOT USE CALL 908-256-5634 Anyone wishing to view my driveway just call me, the same number as above and my address: 6 Quimby Lane Flemington, NJ 08822. Its just not right, that you pay your hard earned money for a job ($9000.00) and the job is not done right. Sometimes stuff happens and if it does, they should be professional enough to make the job correct, that is what they have been paid for.

When he came and sealed the driveway he spilled some on my expensive paver-bricks and he didn?t clean it and said it would wash away with the rain. I tried to hose it off and it didn?t come off. The area he paved is uneven and doesn?t match the rest of the driveway and doesn?t look good at all. We?ve tried to call several times to have him correct the problem and he doesn?t answer or return the call.

On or about September, 2014 we engaged Killpatrick Construction to perform work on our driveway. We obtained his name from Angies List where he had a good rating. He told us that he would pitch our driveway in a way that there would be no overflow of water into our garage and no puddling that would wear away the asphalt in front of the garage. At first he advised that we needed drains near the driveway but he thought better of that and told us that the drains were unsightly and we would not need them if he pitched the driveway correctly. He came with his crew to perform the work, but, before he stared he told us he could brick our front entrance so it would match the front of the house - the front needed work, but we had not thought about doing it then. He said he could improve the walk. We agreed and the front walkway was done first - and done to our satisfaction. The driveway estimate was $4,500.00 - the walkway was estimated at $300.00. But, we asked that he enlarge the area of the walkway which made the cost $1,200.00. The entire cost for both the walkway and driveway was $6,000.00.

The driveway was started next. But, it wasn't pitched the way he said it would be and, consequently, we had puddling in front of the garage as before. Calls to Killpatrick went unanswered for the most part and when we finally got him to look at the garage he told us that it was not pitched correctly. Weeks later his crew returned and tore up the perimeter of the driveway, leaving the interior of the driveway in tact. It remained like that for nearly two weeks, afterwhich his crew returned with additional asphalt which was applied to the original asphalt as well as the perimeter of the driveway. He said "you're getting two driveways for the price of one".

After he assured us all was well with the driveway, we had rain and our garage started to fill with water. We needed newspapers applied to the garage floor to catch the water. He returned, and because we were unable to lock our garage, he tried hammering the garage door lock to make it fit. That didn't work. The last thing he handed us was weatherproofing which he told us to apply under the garage door to prevent the water from entering. He never came back to see the water in our garage, although we called him over 10 times. To date, our problem has not been resolved. He continues to ignore our phone calls.

Killpatrick's crew came as expected each day and worked each day until project was completed. Mr. K asked if we were satisfied as they went along. The owner of this company oversaw the work being done, and he and his crew were courteous and efficient and cleaned up each day before they left. I would highly recommend this company. They have a work ethic to be proud of.

Overall I was very pleased with the work that was done by Killpatrick Masons. They were knowledgeable and were very concerned with the level of detail and quality of the work they provided. They delivered above my expectations on the re-conditioing of my custom bluestone patio. I would use them again and would recommend them to my friends and neighbors.
Gerry and his crew did an outstanding job on our driveway. We love it. I purchased the Angie's list offer from Kilpatrick Construction and Gerry contacted me with in a day to discuss our needs. He came to the house to look at our damaged cement driveway and offered a couple options. The old cement driveway needed to be removed and we decided to go with the Cambridge pavers with a new border. His crew started the following Monday and completed the job by Saturday. They did a very professional job and genuinely cared about the finished product and our satisfaction. The job site was cleaned at the end of each day and on the final day all of the topsoil was replaced and on the only thing remaining was our new driveway. Gerry was sure to talk to us each day about the progress and address any issues as they happened. No surprises. My neighbor liked our driveway so much that they hired Gerry to do theirs as well. I definitely recommend Kilpatrick Construction.

When we took down our old shed to put up a new one, we were surprised to see that the concrete foundation was cracked and sunken. I called Killpatrick Construction on a Saturday afternoon, I had an estimate on Saturday night. The owner, Jerry, was very sympathetic to our situation (I had the contents of my old shed sitting in my backyard) and told us he would try to get us in on Monday. Sunday morning, Jerry and his crew arrived to do the work a day early! He knew we needed it done as soon as possible. They worked so hard all day and broke up the concrete by hand. They were very professional and did an outstanding job. I highly recommend this company.

My wife and I are EXTREMELY HAPPY with KILLPATRICK CONSTRUCTION's workmanship. Our driveway was falling apart from years of neglect and now we have a driveway only the rich and famous could have, at a fraction of the price. We will be DEFINITELY calling Gerry of Killpatrick and his courteous staff back to do our walkway and some other stone work in about a month. I normally do not compliment unless the job is done to my standards of Excellence, but, this job goes far beyond excellence with outstanding value plus the job was done in 2 DAYS while most driveway jobs get done over a few weeks time. Thank You, Killpatrick Construction, EXCELLENT PROFESSIONAL JOB! Well done, this is the Company you want to keep.

It went excellent. I was very pleased. They showed up to do the job every morning on time. They finished and cleaned up after they were done. They were very polite. I was very happy with them. They gave me a good price and that’s the price that it was. The thing that stood out to me the most is the materials they were going to use. It was granite and it came out really nice.

Please learn from my mistake of using Killpatric Construction... On 10/11/11 I contracted with Killpatrick Construction owner Gerrard Berry to resurface my driveway walls with nailed on galvanized wire lath and two coats of waterproof cement stucco. A large portion of my old blacktop was to be removed, base material added where necessary and paved with hot commercial grade (it was not) asphalt and machine rolled from 3" to a 2-1/2" smooth finish. The job commenced on 10/12/11 and was completed early evening on 11/14/12 after which they rushed to another job without payment. Do to poor planning with regard to the finished blactop grading line there was a long, 7' 6" X 2" unstuccoed area caused by the two masons and/or Matt the person who seemed to be in charge amongst the many employees. I pointed it out the problem before they rushed off to another job. Matt, Garry and a mason returned just before dark, in the rain, and brought with them some mixed stucco mix with and patched that long opening. The result the next day was the patch didn't match the finished texture of the rest of the walls and now stands out. After all I've gone through with this company I now believe had they been I them paid before they rushed off they would have never returned to make that repair.
They provided very poor quality masonary work which affected the walls and paving job as well. At the onset Garry was preparing too wet a mix for the masons. Water was floting on the mix in the wheel barrow. I strongly complained to them but they used it anyway. When we returned from Florida April 1, 2012, about six months after the job was completed. There were two areas of exposed stucco in the blacktop which Garrard's son Johnny later refered to as the TOE of the stuccoed wall. They were along my rear right wall where blacktop had been. The cement extended 2" from the wall into the blactop and one was 6" long, the other about 2" long. That caused me to check my walls thoroughly and I noticed many hairline cracks along the top and sides of the left wall and numerous hollow sounding areas where the stucco did not adhere to my original unpainted stucco finished wall. There was only one spot on the top surface of the left wall. Now the surface of the stucco is coming off in numerous areas causing dark blotches. I have plenty of dated photos of the crew, their work, the completion and the defects.
Terrible time contacting anyone after I started having problems in April. I made numerous unanswered phone calls starting 4/2/12. Finally, on 7/19/12 I got Johnny & Garry to come check the defects. Johnny declared that the defects I showed him were not problems. He said the wall isn't going anywhere that's why we use wire lath. It was a dead issue to him not me. He did however say he would return the following week and repair the exposed cement in the blacktop. That was after first telling me I should paint over it with driveway sealer. I've never heard from him/them since.
Their two year guarantee isn't worth the paper it's written on. To think part of my job was extended to 5 years due to Matt.
I've mailed two certified letters plus two via regular mail to the two different address I have for them to advise them of my intent if they failed to act. Only the certified letters came back. I now see a new address for them on this site. My letters of intent started yesterday when I filed a complaint with WC Consumer Protection, I'm now an Angie's List member to warn you. I am not finished yet...
My dealings were with owner Gerrard Berry, his son Johnny, Matt and Garry, two Hispanic masons (younger one did my left wall & was far better then the older who did the right wall) and a paving crew. I never saw Gerrard Berry again after the contract was signed. This company should have stuck to paving only...
There were problems once they dug the foundation out. Originally, they were just supposed to tar and waterproof the foundation. It turned out that it had never been waterproofed before, and it was just dirt against cinderblock. It was basically improper construction to begin with and the surface was deteriorating. The cinderblocks on one side of the house were actually crumbling. They were soaked with water and were crumbling. I paid a lot of money but I caught that particular problem in time. The damage was really on one side but the slow deterioration was pretty much all around. So, instead of just tarring it, we also had wire mesh done with stucco put over that, and then the tar and vapor barrier. They originally said it was going to be one drywell, but it would up being three huge drywells. I was not happy with the way they did it but I should have known that upfront. So, there is good and there is bad. I was happy with the job they did on the foundation. They did a very nice job on re-laying the pavers on the back patio that was draining the wrong way. We worked with them on designing the front walk. It wasn’t coming out the way I really liked it, so they just redid it. They were really good in that respect and the whole front looks really nice now. I was very happy with the work they did on the driveway and garage floor. I was not happy with the roof work and the gutters, and the prices they wound up charging us for that. That was very high but it was necessary and had to be done. There were holes in the roof and it needed to be done, and done immediately. We didn’t know anything was wrong until we looked under the roofing shingles, which is what they did. The plywood was rotting right through and it was incredible that we didn’t have leaks. They did what they had to do and prevented further damage but they are not roofers. I have since gone and replaced the roof and the gutters. I really don’t want to knock them on that because that is really not their specialty. Their specialty is foundation work, concrete, pavers and things like that.

Received an estimate that was agreed upon. work started on 08/08/2012 and finished on 08/11/.2012. No monies paid until work was completed and inspected. Workmen started by 8am every morning and left around 5pm. Completely cleaned the site every day before leaving. Was asked to check the work periodically during the progress. I am very pleased with my new entry and I am sure it added more than I paid to the value of my house. I highly recommend this company.

He came in and told us what he would do. He wasn't the lowest but he wasn't a lot higher than the others. He said he would go over all the work as he was doing it. We didn't have to give him a down payment. We were completely satisfied. The only glitch we had was when they were filling the dirt in I thought they didn't waterproof it enough and I called the guy, he agreed, and he called them to dig it up again and put a waterproofing liner in. He did the work for us very quickly. They were done in 3 days. Everyone spoke highly of the,.
