WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!!! Do not be fooled! We started a project with King David over 7 months ago and it's been ****!!! Shimon Benebgi aka Simon, sent his "cousin" David to meet with us initially. I should have known this was the first "bait and switch" technique of a serial con artist. Look up "King David and Jonathan" here on Yelp. All those reviews are EXACTLY what we went through! When the public catches on and starts writing bad reviews, he goes and changes his company name. One of his crews lead by Giovanni with a guy named Daniel did backwards plumbing through out my house causing sewer water to back up on my son's legs in the shower. Same guys caused a leak in my roof because they didn't reconnect my heaters condensation pipe. No one recognized a 6 ft asbestos transite pipe and broke it causing the city inspector to leave the construction site yelling at the crew for being that incompetent. God knows what else will fail in the future because walls are already closed and I don't know the details of construction. Other things I can see that I've accepted to live with and maybe slowly fix later are crooked walls, pealing paint, broken tiles.... the finish work is just crap! And I haven't even mentioned the horrible time management, inefficiency, total lack of oversight, no shows, scheduling nightmare, shady looking people coming and going through my property because they were subcontracted out and total lies I've had to deal with because those seem like small things now compared to the other areas of gross negligence. There have been other bad reviews here but Simon tries to negotiate and fix the problems he caused, as he should, but then bullies his clients until they remove the bad reviews. I'm sorry, Simon is not a business man who is trying to do right by his clients. He scammed us by sending me shoddy workers in the first place in hopes that I wouldn't catch it or complain!!! Save yourself the headache and don't be fooled by the other "friends and family" reviews on Yelp.

They were awful. I paid for a certain amount of hours and it took months to get them to do the job and they left after three hours. The work was fine but they complained all the time.

King David and Jonathan gave me the best peace of mind during my project. The project managersand the whole production team in the office kept me in the loop of what was going to happen at my house every day, and I would receive a great weekly schedule from my project manager David designed our beautiful bathroom and he worked with us all the way through to make sure everything ran smoothly from beginning to end. I was able to go to work and do other things and not have the construction at my house bother me in any way! King David gets the job done fast and efficiently and I couldn't have been any happier with another contractor.
So happy with simon the owner
thank you simon

I was very nervous about making so many changes all at one time. I like to cook and didn't want my kitchen torn up. My husband and I met with David. He was amazing. Super professional and very knowledgeable. His designs were incredible and really solidified how nice everything would look. He stepped us through choosing materials and appliances and was even able to incorporate the exact models in his designs!! David also somehow managed to time the kitchen projects so that I always had a functional kitchen.
The workers were polite and on time, and I appreciated that they were conscientious about not dragging dirt through the house. David came by regularly to check up on the progress, and he was always available when we called with questions. Everything was finished on time, and the house looks wonderful! We are planning to have David and Jonathan back to do some landscaping and outdoor patio in the future! Overall fantastic experience!

Met with one of the company's lead guy (Luis) and decided to award the contract to them because he seems nice and technically savvy on how to perform the remodel job. He promised to keep a close eye on the job since it was a small job. The bathroom is about 7'Long X 5'W X 8'H, things that were to be performed, demo floor tile, remove toilet and re-install, remove the vanity and re-install, tile a standing shower with a frameless glass shower, replace a ceiling light, replace an old ventilation fan and paint the bathroom at the end. I was to pay for all tiles and toilet. For the price he gave me and to do all of this was a great deal, especially from a company with high reviews from Angie's List. Luis promised to complete this job in 2 weeks (RED Flag) since it was a small bathroom but just going through a kitchen remodel, I knew better so I gave them an extra week. Well, 3 weeks came and not even halfway done. It took 2 complete months to complete the job. Again, this is a small bathroom. Originally, I decided not to pull a city permit since I was told they were going to do a great job like a permit was pulled. After day 1, an electrician came to install a dimmer light switch and run a new electrical wire well, he did not place a metal cover plate where he ran the electrical wires through wood studs, which is a building code requirement (RED Flag 2). So I decided to pull a city permit after all since i was not thrusting this company already. After I told the electrician that an inspector will come and check, he said that the work up in the attic would not pass inspections (RED Flag 3). They came back and fixed the electrical problems. Ok, days 2 and 3 were to finish the rest of demo to prep for the tile shower and panel. Day 4 a shower pan subcontractor was to come, well they never showed up. By the way, they say they have all employees doing work for them (lies), they subcontract most of their jobs like the tile guy, shower door guy, hot mop for the shower pan and electrician. Not sure about the painter since I really did not talk to him. The only subcontractor that did a good job was the tile guy. The painter was sloppy and left all of his trash behind and washed his paintbrush on my bushes and pool patio. One of their employees was even sloppier, he is a nice person to talk to but he will even admit that he is a mechanic by trade but doing this to make a little bit more money. He was to build a step bench in the shower in a triangle well it is not a triangle more like Obtuse Triangle. Unfortunately we did not notice until it was time for the tile to be installed but too late since the hot mop was already done. By the way, this same guy installed the toilet and cut the floor bolt that goes into the toilet with a grinder and all of the metal debris was ingrained into the brand new toilet making it look dirty. We had them replace the new toilet but they did not pay for it, Lowes was awesome that they were willing to take back the toilet even though it was not their fault. One of the biggest complaints that we had with this company is the miscommunication on their part. Luis would say that he will show up but he does not. He would say that he will fix it but he would not. He is all promise and nice but no follow through. Another problem we had was with the glass shower door. The subcontractor came and took measurements and asked us to pick the hardware so we did. The next day, we get a call from Luis telling us that we picked an expensive hardware and that we must pick another one less expensive and plain if we don't want to pay out of pocket. After arguing for days and telling him that this was not mentioned in the contract and that it was unfair to only give one option, I finally had to contact the owner (Simon) and he was willing to pay the out of pocket charge to keep us happy. Only for this reason we don't give them an F. There are many other stuff that went bad but honestly my hands are getting tired. Bottom line, if you hire them make sure to put on the contract a consequence if they don't finish their job on time, discuss hardware for door, faucets, and anything else that needs to be picked out. They may only give you one option. Expect to know that subcontractor will be used. To the owner of the company, my advice is to keep a closer eye on your jobs to stay on track. Making a statement that it will only take 2 weeks and finishing up in 2 months and that's only because I threaten to stop the job after 2 months should be an embarrassment, not even a compensation for taking so long.

I bought the Angie's List deal ($500 for 16 hours of a contractor). We owed our neighbor a new fence as we ran a new gas line along their side of the fence. We bought the material and stained it ourselves, but unfortunately we did not notice that the planks were different sizes from the one we had on our side of the fence. King David sent out two guys for 8 hours and they ripped down each board to the correct size. The job ended up being much more complicated that we had thought but these guys really paid attention to the detail and the fence they put up in one day looks great. We would use them again.
I thought that in explaining all that I wanted to their Supervisor, the details of my needs would be followed. Communication between the Supervisor and the Owner needs significant improvement; each time the owner called me it was not to inquire about how many hours were left, etc. and I told him to call the Supervisor.

The painter was a true professional who took incredible pride in his work, which was so evident! The other guy who fixed the bricks did a good job, but the new bricks were not laid to balance the appearance of the beginning of the walkway; he put new bricks on one side & old on the other. I relied on the Supervisor. I should have monitored the job myself! Supervisor swore that after 2 months all will blend-in!

On the final day of the work, only the painter was here. He was going to be picked up at 5PM. Near 6PM, I saw that he was outside and it was getting chilly. I asked if something was wrong. He told me his pickup was delayed by traffic (Fri. nite on a 3-day weekend).

I invited him in and I had the TV on. He remained standing and went outside to call his wife. When he returned I offered him another bottle of water and encouraged him to sit and relax. I called the Supervisor and left a message for him. Painter advised that the driver called had a flat tire. I called the Supervisor at around 7PM and asked him if he had dinner. He was on his way to do so. So I told him that I had not eaten and advised him that the painter was still here;& I invited him in because it was chilly outside, etc. No appreciation for my efforts for HIS painter just a lot of excuses, etc. He DID tell me that workers would return the next day to pick up trash and clean the area and Supervisor would call to see if I was satisfied, etc. Painter was finally picked up at 7:20pm. The two workers returned the next day to pick up their materials, etc., to pick up trash and to clean up the yard.

Supervisor did not call; neither did owner.

I loved working with the project manager. He understood everything that I didn't want and also wanted. When we realized more work was needed, he had his men handle it. They were very honest and gave good advice. My project manager was excellent in his taste of matching flooring with he cabinets. I am extremely pleased with the quartz shade that was put in. They gave me the option of a six inch back-splash or tile. Details e were agreed upon beforehand. He knew I wanted a lighter kitchen and I got it. I am more than pleased with the outcome. What is so nice about this is I could call EITHER partner, and I would get one of them on the line each time. It looks wonderful.

Notes about the original bid.
Just be careful when choosing stone because some stone cost more that others and you can run up a large bill depending on the stone you choose.
My original quote was for $15,000.
When I went down to the stone yard to see the stone I notices these gorgeous stones that looked even better that what I had originally agreed on.
When I told them I wanted to switch to the new stone, they said this most expensive stone was not in the budget and that to use it would raise the cost of the job by the difference. It took a lot of stone to cover my planter and both walls.
This is why the job cost increased by $5,000, but it was worth it.

My yard is so beautiful that many of the neighbors have complimented me for having the nicest yard in the neighborhood.
Some asked for their business card because they liked it so much.
This yard is easier to care for and makes me proud to live there.
They sure know how to pick good workers.

I was particularly impressed by the painting. I walked around the house, and all the eves were cleanly painted, no overlapping onto the walls anywhere - which shows nice attention to detail even in areas not readily visible. Same for the interior walls versus the ceilings as well. We had some differences of opinion, but they were resolved to my benefit. And Simon is a nice guy, eager to make a deal.
