I regret that I can't give Kitchen Renovators higher ratings. Darin Anderson is very personable and does excellent cabinet work. However, my project had a few bumps in the road. I've been slowly updating the galley kitchen in my 1950's era house. I had already replaced the floor, had a combination pantry/desk built, replaced the old water pipes throughout the house with copper, and then purchased a new sink, faucet and countertops. After checking Angie's list, I contacted Kitchen Renovators (Darin Anderson) to install the countertops, which Darin estimated would cost about $500. On September 30th, the date of the scheduled work, Darin called to say that he would be about 30 minutes late. When he arrived, he made a lot of suggestions for improving the usefulness of my kitchen, and showed me photos of his previous work -- all of which were impressive, but many were out of my price range. After consideration, though, I did decide to go ahead with having an existing lower cabinet removed so that the dishwasher could be shifted closer to the sink, having Darin build a new cabinet with two rollout shelves and one drawer, and having two existing small drawers replaced with one larger one. With this additional work, Darin quoted a price of $1500. I gave him a deposit and he did some preliminary work that day. He said he would build the new cabinet and drawer and would contact me in a few weeks about installation. A month later, since I hadn't heard from him, I called Darin about scheduling the rest of the work. We set the appointment for Thursday, November 18th, at 9:30 a.m. At 10:30 a.m. that day, I called Darin. He told me that he'd decided to work a home show at the last minute, and totally forgot our appointment. He offered to come over that same weekend, but I wasn't available. We agreed on Monday, December 6th, and I suggested I call him on Friday, the 3rd, to remind him (which I did). On Monday, Darin called to say that he'd be about 45 minutes late. As he was working that day, he stopped to answer quite a few cell phone calls, which set back the work schedule and ultimately delayed the plumber's work. Before leaving, Darin swept the floor but left sawdust in the drawers and cabinets. He hadn't given me a written estimate, and I specifically asked him for a receipt on 12/6, showing that I had paid in full. He didn't remember the actual numbers that he'd given me, so I looked up the amount of the check I had written for my deposit, and he rounded off numbers from there.
