LAR Construction & Remodeling

LAR is awful. If you want to feel like you are getting ripped off then this would be the company for you. It all started with false promises and misrepresentations from the sales guy who KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT CONSTRUCTION. We thought because they had good reviews that this company was reputable but clearly not. The plans we approved with modification but they promised to make it look the way we wanted at the end so we again trusted and agreed. They then started and did not do anything per the plans unless you called them on it. If you called them on something they had agreed to do but it was wrong then they would say “we are doing it per the plans”. They do not have everyone in-house despite what they say. Most were day laborers which is fine if they had been monitored for keeping to code. They did not respect our home or our things. They made a hole in our ceiling and did not patch it for 2 months! They also would leave beer cans and fast food on our patio. They even spilled a soda inside our new addition and did not clean it up. When I complained they sent someone over to pick up the trash then then next day they screwed into our new fence and gazebo red caution tape blocking off our patio area. How is that solving the issue of people drinking on the job and being disrespectful and unprofessional? Once the opened up our house by removing a wall, they boarded up the kitchen for weeks even when no one was working on the addition. They once they had the addition enclosed, they would leave the door open all day long while they were working letting out all of air conditioning when it would have been cooler in the house/addition if they had closed the door. They also agreed to install a ceiling fan which we bought 3 months ago and then found out before the final inspection that the ceiling is only 7 ft 4 in and a ceiling fan would knock someone’s head off. When we called them out on this issue, they said they would install it after the final inspection. Are you kidding? We are not just trying to pass inspection! We don’t want a ceiling fan that someone can injure themselves on because it would hang 2 feet down. We can’t return the fan because it is past the return date and they were completely indifferent. I asked why no one told us that we could not have ceiling fan with the height of the ceiling and they just replied, “we were following the plans”. We would have been fine with a “no you cannot have a fan because the ceiling is too low”. Why didn’t they know the ceiling was too low? We even didn’t pass an inspection and just didn’t have anyone come by for several weeks and no one told us we didn’t pass. I figured it out by looking in the inspection paperwork which was often not kept on the job site. We didn’t pass our final inspection either because we needed a new electrical box. Do they not know what is to code and what it not? Shouldn’t they have anticipated what needed to be done to pass inspection? They also broke the latch on our brand-new gate 2 times and then put a crappy one on it that looks horrible. They broke a light fixture in the kitchen which is next to the new addition and didn’t even bother to tell us. They did not put Tyvek on the windows or new door to code but covered it up so the inspector never saw. They did not put stucco under the door frame leading outside until I reminded them to do so and then they only put one layer so it will crack probably in less than a year. They would leave the door unlocked. They would come over unannounced on evenings and weekends even though we just requested a head up in case we had company or getting ready for bed or any other reason you want to know someone is in your house. They left a gap on the roof awning without stucco and again were just going to leave it that way. They lost the window cranks to the new windows. They used one of our brooms to stir the paint. They stole one of our shovels thinking it was theirs. They used and took our step stool. They left piles of concrete and dirt in our driveway for weeks with no need for it. They broke our granite backsplash and then told us it was “on us” because it was broken during demo. The list goes on and on and on of the crappy things they did without apology or reparations. Anytime you want to complain, you have to talk to the sales guy that pretends to know what he is talking about but didn’t even know what Tyvek house wrap was when I was complaining about it. The foreman also tells you whatever you want and will offer his personal phone number but does not have his voicemail box set up to leave messages, won’t return your text messages and NEVER answers the phone. I have never felt so swindled in my life! This is the worse experience I have EVER had with a company and it disgust me because of the enormous cost of the small 200 sq ft addition and what a crappy job they did. They even put in the electrical outlets crooked and were going to leave them like that until I complained. How can you do such sloppy work when people are paying you so much money and think that it is acceptable? LAR is a lying, lazy and greedy company that I would not recommend to anyone.

Last month LAR Constructiuon & Remodeling finished remodeling of our kitchen. We are so glad we hired this company because they did a awesome job, kitchen looks just as we wished and they were very honest about project price and timeline. The complete team was very respectful, professional and responsible. We have in plan some other work on our house and we are sure that will work with LAR Construction again. Highly recommended company

Tom was my project manager and he did an exceptional job of staying in contact with me and overseeing the work. The contractor whom he oversaw seemed to want to do a minimal level of quality to finish the assignment and several times Tom had to intervene at my request to get the work done right. But they did a wonderful job in the end and I am very pleased. I would DEFINITELY use LAR Construction again and would recommend them.

We used LAR construction & remodeling on our recent large scale remodeling project last month where we had them design and build our custom modern kitchen, completely remodel the laundry room and 2 bathrooms. The workmanship that they did for the whole remodeling was unbelievable. Everything came out completely wonderful... We can’t be happier with th results of our remodeling product. Thank you

W hired LAR Construction & Remodeling to completely remodeling our kitchen. We spent many hours planning the design and maximizing the space of the new kitchen so it will fit to our needs ahead so that the actual remodeling part will go easily. Eli was very easygoing and open minded from the design stage and he helped us solve several problems that we had. We are very satisfied with the completed kitchen. The construction crews were polite and prompt on top of being very detail oriented. Our new kitchen is fantastic! LAR Construction & Remodeling did a great job!

We’ve used LAR Construction & Remodeling to gut our old kitchen and to build a guestroom over our garage. We are very happy with during the whole remodeling project. The new kitchen was completed very fast (relatively speaking), with no problem of any kind and it was remodeled exactly as we vision it and with no hidden charges. The guestroom took a little longer, but mainly because the city inspectors delays. Due to our satisfaction with them, we already passed their number to several people and friends.

LAR Construction & Remodeling was truly pleasure to work with. They worked very quickly and professionally. They quoted me for a new kitchen remodeling project that at first should be completed within 4 weeks of daily work but essentially it was completed it within 3.5 weeks. The new kitchen looked gorgeous and they paid attention to each and every detail so it will look no less than perfect. More than that, they kept everything in the house clean and organized. They also made sure to cover and seal off the entire remodeling space so no dust will get all over the house. In the past, I have worked with few other contractors that were just OK and did a good job but LAR Construction & Remodeling was very skilled and trustworthy company. Great experience by working with them, we highly recommend them!

After the several estimates that we got from several contractors to remodel our master bathroom and kitchen, we contacted LAR Construction & Remodeling to move forward and to finalize the estimate and do the work. Our project manager Gili was the main person that we dealt with and he was the one that generated the estimate and he was very responsive, reasonable and educated. Few days after we signed the agreement, the remodeling project started. The remodeling process was very fast and the work came out awesome. Our master bathroom and kitchen turned out so beautiful and functional. Gili and the team were wonderful. We definitely recommend them and we will hire them for any future remodeling projects.

LAR Construction & Remodeling worked at my house to do an addition. They achieved each and every milestone of the remodeling and they completed the addition within the agreed time frame AND the agreed budget. I liked all the services that they did at the house, including the management over all the additional vendors that worked in addition to the team. My addition project was managed on the best side that included daily and weekly reports and the communication from my project manager Eli. The in house working crew was very skilled and they all worked in a fast phase making sure that all my neighbors will have no complains of any kind. The work was done in very high quality (from my point of view and because each inspection was passed right away). I will hire them and recommend them to my friends and family.

My house was recently remodeled by LAR construction and it was managed by an awesome person (David). David made sure that everything will go without any problem and smooth as possible. The work was very massive because it included the removal of 2 walls (so i will get a large open space of the first floor), new design, new flow and more.... After the demolition of the existing kitchen, David made sure that each day the workers will work full days. More than that, he made sure that all the materials will be at the house prior to the work. The new kitchen was completed within the promised time frame and after it was completed... David came over several times to make sure that i am happy and that there are no problems of any kind.

Our review is for the Kitchen remodeling project that included the replacement of all the hardwood floors and new installation of all the ceiling lights at the house. Gili and his team at LAR Construction & Remodeling were very fast, honest and professional during the whole remodeling project. We really love the results of the work and the high quality of all the materials that were used in the work. Highly recommend company for anyone who is interesting in a home remodeling project!

We hired LAR construction & remodeling to our total kitchen remodel including few other extra tasks such as: - installing a strong recirculating pump for the hot water. - upgrading and relocating the electrical box. - replacing the existing carpet and install new hardwood floors around the house. Sharon from LAR construction & remodeling was excellent with his ideas & help including his foreman while his directions made our remodeling project much less stressful than we thought it will be. The office manager Kim was in-charged on all the paperwork and she did a wonderful job by coordinating, communicating, handling all the paperwork while the working crew were prompt, responsive, & skilled. The whole remodeling project took 6 weeks from the beginning to the end. The main thing about this remodeling work which was the final price… was very fair compare to the level of comfort & trust that we had with LAR construction & remodeling was worth it.

Gil and his professional and skilled team at LAR Construction & Remodeling are by far more than awesome people! We had a deadline to complete our kitchen remodeling project (including demolishing the old one) and Gili promised us that he will be able to do it within this time frame (1 month) and that he will keep it within the agreed budget as well. Gili was at our house each day and managed each step of the work including to make sure that everything will go according to the plan, without any mistakes and that we are pleased with the progress. After the kitchen was finished and delivered to us, many of our guested gave us so many compliments about how it looks and how functional it becomes (compare to the old kitchen)! We will never hire another home improvement company for any of our future remodeling projects!!!!

We were referred to LAR Construction & Remodeling by a family friend and we contacted Gili, scheduled a meeting and provided him the vision of what we wanted to have and to also know how much we can spend. Gili came back with his laptop and with a 3D design of the pool including all the hardscape that by far surpassed all of our hopes and his proposal estimate was also within our budget (which means that he listened to us and understood our needs very good). Gili even made some modifications to the placement of the pool which maximized the space of the backyard. Gili estimated the remodeling project as a 3 months project (on a daily basis). We believed that it will take much longer because the type of the pool that needed a cut into the hillside, hardscape, sprinklers and more and more... But surly enough, they were done with the project a little bit longer than the 3 months. We do recommend Gili and all his team to anyone who is looking to design and build a pool. Gili helped us picking out all the colors for the stones around the pool.

We just finished working with LAR Construction & Remodeling for the final phase of our remodeling project and it came out so good! They were highly professionals, very skilled, honest and kept the price based on the budget. We started the remodeling process 3 months ago and we remodeled the entire house section by section based on a detailed plan that was set by them and that fit perfectly to our needs. We were very excited with the outcome results! Tony and David we the 2 main people that handled the entire work and we worked hand by hand with them during the entire work and we feel secured to write here that we are looking forward to hire and work with them again mainly with Tony and David on our next remodeling project.

We needed to remodel our 2 bedrooms and kitchen in Alameda and needed the remodeling to be done fast because we needed to move in ASAP. Ziv at LAR Construction & Remodeling came over to the house and met with us. After checking and chatting the options, we knew right away that we will hire him and all we needed to do is to wrap the price so it will fit our budget. Ziv understood clearly our ideas and fears which were a great tool for him to provide us with many great suggestions that saved us time and money with the remodeling project. His knowledge about all the remodeling aspects and his honesty were a huge plus. We know that many contractors always give you a low quotes and ending up with higher prices so in our case… we feel fortunate that we didn’t experienced that.

We had a great experience with LAR construction & remodeling... Before we started the conversion of our 2 car garage, we researched and shopped around for few months until we went ahead with LAR construction & remodeling. Because we are a picky people, we went physically to see several remodeling jobs that they did recently. We were impressed but also worried at the same time. Based on what we saw, we felt that our estimate will not fit our budget and that we will not be able to afford it. The sales rep delivered us the quote and spent 5 hours with us. He didn’t push us to sign the contract and more than that, he didn’t try to persuade us. We took all the information he gave us and few days after, we called him and agreed to talk over the weekend. Shortly after that day, we called him and scheduled the meeting at our house. The price for the work was fair and we felt that we are in good hands. We signed the agreement and a week after, the project started. We converted the garage (about 500 sq/ft) to an amazing single room including a bathroom & steam shower, small laundry area and a kitchen. Everything came out perfect. The additional unit blend well with the rest of the house and all of our friends including our family members that visited us after the work was completed, could not believe how nice the new space… They were able to deal with all the challenges that the project included and how the new hardwood floor installation was blended to the house as a one long hardwood floor Hallway .We are very happy with the results

We would like to thank you for each and every thing you did at our house. Our new bathroom is now much more beautiful and functional than we could ever think of. Our thanks are mainly for Shawn and the actual people that did the work and this review is the main thing where we can show our appreciation. We will hire them again in the future for any other remodeling project we will have.

I hired LAR construction after i interviewed several companies that i thought can remodel my kitchen. David who was assigned to my remodeling project by the company... came over, checked the existing kitchen and came up with a great design that maximized the space and implemented all the functionality and features that i wanted to have. more than that, he was able to work around my budget and he made sure that nothing will caused the budget to increased. During the work, they had few changes that they needed to do and David made all of them without any modification of the agreement. I am very happy with all the work and service that i got from them and i highly recommend them to anyone else who is interesting in a remodeling project.

Without getting convincing proposal from other contractors, I had only 3 weeks remaining until my tenant's move-in date. Then Gili showed up and gave me reasonable price, saying can take care everything including city permitting process and secured workforce to fit into my schedule. I liked their business model that their price is labor, leaving me to buy cabinets and countertops directly from shop. Also he kindly offered to include my smaller job (like vanity replacement and sliding door installation) pushed in the price. Still kitchen remodel of half century old condo is not straight-forward. Major electrical issues were found after demolition, which required sub-panel replacement and rewiring. Although this certainly caused unexpected cost and delay, Gili worked hard for me to minimize the effect by negotiating with city officials as well as LAR Construction absorbs some of the cost. I really appreciated that. Also they gave me paint job in the living room Gili always kept me posted on the status and next steps, so I had never concern. With the completion I feel pride myself on the new kitchen that meets the latest code. If you want quality investment, I highly recommend LAR Construction And Remodeling

For over six months, we interviewed six different professional and well recommended contractors for our master bathroom remodel. The project manager Gili arrived immediately and not only LISTENED to my ideas and my vision, but also HEARD what I wanted. He expanded on my original ideas until we all agreed (including my reluctant husband) on the vision for our master bathroom. He helped us with the selection of tile, trim, grouting, shape and colors for the remodel. He accepted my ideas of the barn doors for both the vanity entry as well as for the closet door. He allowed my husband to design a somewhat 'heart shaped' type bench for the shower which allows us more room for entering and exiting the shower. It is so utilitarian as well as an interesting and very innovative design. Even though we had a few 'hiccups,' Gili and his team met every challenge and solved each problem. They were prompt upon arrival and stayed long after day's end. They were dedicated and committed to pleasing us every step of the way by accepting our ideas and concerns. It actually turned out to be a wonderful collaborative project. I had warned that my husband 'crosses every T" and dots every i,", but there were no problems whatsoever. Gili had made some promises, and I was somewhat skeptical from my HGTV viewing experiences. However, there were no last minute surprises, and He was true to his word! Gili and his team are excellent representatives for LAR, and I would not hesitate one minute to hire Gili as project manager again. They receive 5+ Stars and will be highly recommended to friends, neighbors and anyone who needs to hire an excellent contractor. GREAT JOB Gili and all the workers from LAR!

It was excellent. I felt the need to leave a positive review for the FANTASTIC job LAR provided to me with. We had our Bathroom remodeled by them. The experience was pleasant, courteous and most importantly...on schedule. LAR was great in communicating every step of the remodeling process so I always felt in the loop. I'm thankful to them. This is not a small job and lucky enough I found the right guys. Thanks LAR.
