We are very happy and are feeling great about our new kitchen. Awesome experience and super quick too!
Here is what was done: they (1) removed and hauled away our old cabinets (11 of them), countertop (about 30 square feet), sink, and tile floor; (2) installed new cabinets which were an upgrade for us as they went to the ceiling, were almost a full overlay (more than partial overlay, but slightly less than full overlay), had a lazy susan in the corner cabinet, and bumped out the cabinet about 2 feet above the refrigerator (a suggestion Largo mentioned to us as an option); (3) installed a silestone quartz countertop with a stainless steel sink and faucet (all plumbing disconnect and reconnection Largo did for us); and (4) installed a porcelain tile floor. The workers were friendly and really hard working! It took 3 days for the cabinets and counter to be removed and the new ones installed. It took another 3 days about 2 weeks later for the tile floor to be removed and the new tile floor to be installed. The tile floor was an extra that we asked if they could do assuming our budget allowed for it after the cabinet and counter was done.
Details. We were looking for a simple, basic upgrade to the cabinets that were installed when the townhouse was built in 1988 - basically add a lazy susan and have the cabinets extend to the ceiling. A big box store had some crazy prices for cabinets and we were frustrated. We found Largo Marble and Granite from an advertisement in one of those coupon mailers with a deal for about $7,000 for new counter and cabinets - so we checked out Largo on Angies' List and then dropped by to see their shop. They had about 6 cabinet and counter demonstration kitchens in their office, a pretty big warehouse with slabs of granite and quartz and the buzz of work within the shop, and vans with their logo. So, we felt pretty good that they knew what they were doing.
A lady in the front office showed us the basics of what they had (counter types, cabinets, colors, etc.). The project managers were out, but we set up a meeting for a few days later. Kuby, one of the project managers, met us at their showroom in which we clarified what we wanted, then he visited our townhouse a few days later to make measurements (which he gladly let me copy), and lastly we confirmed what we wanted another few days later at Largo's office/showroom. Kuby was very upfront about what they can do and cannot do. We decided to stick with basic, standard cabinets as that is all we needed and wanted to keep the price manageable. Kuby was very open about what would cost more and provided rough estimates along the way especially with the silestone countertop options (thickness and color/designs). Once we had 90% of the cabinet and counter decided on, Kuby gave us a rough estimate for the labor on doing the floor in case we wanted that work done too. The cabinet design we chose was limited to one stain color, but it looks great and is definitely a normal wood color (nothing crazy dark or light). Kuby never pressured us and the conversations were always and quot;here is what we can do, let us know what questions you haveand quot;.
We put 50% down on credit card and paid the remainder after the work was done by check. They drafted a simple work order and gladly added any additions and clarifications I wanted included. They are a small shop in terms of the number of employees manning the showroom/front office, but they are very efficient and have that small business type of drive. All of them we met or worked in our house worked really hard. Here are some of the awesome and quot;wowand quot; events that happened throughout the process:
(1) they emailed us warrantees the day after we casually mentioned it in conversation before we ordered anything (I was surprised because he must have taken note of this request and followed up with his partner the next day to get us the info)
(2) they emailed us when they ordered the cabinets
(3) they emailed us when the cabinets showed up in their shop
(4) they emailed us when they ordered the silestone counter
(5) they emailed us when the silestone counter came in
These emails were short, but great as we knew what was going on. We were very flexible with dates they could install the cabinets and flooring, so they called indicating they could start the next day and that was not a problem for us. One person did most of the work on the cabinets and floor, but about 3-4 came for the counter top. Their plumber came about 2 hours after the counter was installed to do the sink and faucet. So, no issues with the installation of anything. Timing - 1 day to remove and install cabinets, counter area measured the next day, the counter installed the next day. Flooring was the same, 1 demo day, 1 day to lay tile, 1 day to grout.
For the flooring, we bought the tile, backerboard, grout, and mortar (all the materials) and Largo did the labor. They left this as an option since we could save some money by buying the materials ourselves. We included the price of the flooring materials in the project cost above ($10,000). We also bought door handles for the cabinets which they installed. The only thing they do not do is electrical work (for a new microwave above the stove for example).
In terms of price, we started with the deal on the coupon and then upgraded the items we wanted. The cabinet drawers do have dove tail construction and the cabinets are plywood construction.
This was a well done project and the price was awesome.
