Laura Hawthorne Painting & Design

It went well. She answered many of my design questions and helped me make several decisions.

To be honest, I don't think we got anything out of it. We expected window covering suggestions, colors on the walls. She brought her contractor out with her to look at our fireplace. But the whole session seemed to be, you tell me what you want. Well, I wouldn't need a designer if I knew what I wanted. I wanted a professional to come and suggest that this - what you have on the wall now would look better if you did this. That's not what we got, I guess maybe my  expectations were a little different. I thought you hired a designer when you don't think your space is being utilized right. I don't think we got much for it. <br /> <br /> It could be I should have had something prepared or maybe talked more with them before they came. We got the entire amount of time, so it didn't take any longer than what was advertised. <br /> <br /> We still want to get our fireplace remodeled but I have not contacted her and said yeah we're ready to go, I need ideas. I don't need people to say what do you want to do, I would just hire someone to do it. I want someone to say this might look good or have you thought about this .   <br /> <br /> I got nothing that we could go forward with. I have not reached back out, but I probably would follow up on it since they have already looked at it.

Laura was very professional. She did some curtains for my dinning room, bathroom and bedroom. She help in the selection of materials. Everything was done earlier than the due date. I will use her service again. <br>

The kitchen work went well and the  looks like a new room. The landscaping also - couldn't be more beautifully thought through and completed. I have been using Laura, Wayne and Jerry for about 8 years. She has painted many of the rooms in my house and made beautiful window treatments and pillows.  She always takes my ideas and makes them better. I can be certain that I will not just be satisfied but thrilled by her work because she is knowledgable, thorough, and creative. Any time I have had a concern she is receptive and willing to find solutions that work.

They were here for 2 days and I was very pleased with there detail. My kitchen has been transformed and looks fabulous. I am also having them do additional painting in the house

The only big suprise was how "a day of painting" was measured. A 3rd man arrived and with the added effort she said they would not stay as long. I spoke to Angie's operator and urged that the deal be more accurately worded. <br />

NO complaints. <br /> This team is all pro. They'd worked in a few of the homes in the Dominion (swanky high dollar subdivision home to San Antonio Spurs players, George Strait and the notable quotables of the Alamo city). It was a privilege to have them for the brief time they were in the house. Laura was very educational telling me what would be required before the kitchen cabinets could be done. And plus when my kids came she offered them the chance to do a few strokes with the paint roller (which they declined). <br /> <br />

The team did an amazing job! We're very responsive to messages, on time and very professional.

Laura and Tony were polite, professional, and diligent as well as very skilled with a paint brush. We will definitely consider them for future painting jobs. <br />

<p>Laura and her team are wonderful people, and I felt completely safe leaving the house while they worked.  The color tips that Laura gave for accent walls turned out really nice.  I liked the way Laura and her team removed the popcorn ceiling, not scraping down to the sheetrock but leaving a textured ceiling.  </p> <p>There were some problems, however.</p> <p>We had discussed that Laura buy the paint since she could get a discounted price; however, they sent me for paint while they were scraping the ceiling. </p> <p>The painted cabinets look a lot better except for the fact that they also painted the hardware.  When cabinet doors were opened, paint scrapped off part of the hardware, leaving it looking a bit tacky.  They also did not paint the visible part underneath the top cabinet above the sink.  </p> <p>My biggest disappointment is with the woodwork.  They used latex paint over oil-based paint on the doors, casing the paint to bubble and peel.  When they returned to correct the problem, they primed and painted over the peeled part, leaving the outline of where the paint peeled.  My louvered closet doors were not removed and sprayed but painted while shut.  When the doors are open, the unpainted part is quite visible.  Two of the closet doors were painted along with the frame.  When the doors were opened, the paint cracked and peeled.</p> <p>Although I grew fond of Laura and her crew, I would not hire them for interior painting again.</p> <br />

Excellent painting.  We scheduled an appointment for the upstairs trim and baseboards to be done.  When the painter showed up, she told us that she thought only one room needed to be painted.  Although it took a while with just one person, it came out beautifully. <br />

Laura helped me with painting and drapes.  She patiently identified and explained alternatives and also offered considered opinions.  The project remained consistent  with my vision but also incorporated the new insights I gained from working with Laura.  The result is far superior to what would have happened if I had simply issued instructions to a contractor. <br /> Tony made a number of home repairs and improvements.  He also took the time to discuss any underlying issues and alternative methods.  The work is excellent. <br /> Both Laura and Tony are personnable, fair, and experienced. <br /> You will enjoy working with them and you will enjoy your "new" home when your project is completed. <br /> <br /> <br />
