Excellent.  Mr. Schooley was professional and did a very thorough job inspecting the septic tank and even found  a PV pipe that was hidden under dirt/grass.  He also went above and beyond by educating me about the septic system and how it worked, including great advice about maintaining it.  HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM!

While the foundation repair worked (no leakage during the next heavy rain), the step repair initially failed.  With the assistance of Angie's List dispute remediation, a relatively new Legacy employee, Jason Boyles, returned with a new crew in mid February.  The re-exposed the pipe, thoroughly cleared it, placed a screen over the top, and refilled the pit with stone.  After two heavy rains, I've seen no subsequent flooding.

This company says their most important component is communication . They fell short in that area time and time again. They never returned a phone call. They expected we would be sitting on our email 24/7. <br /> After delays (some due to weather) and promised start dates where no one came, no one called, no one emailed, they finally showed up to start the job. I looked out the window and saw workmen walking around our yard and house. No one came to the door to introduce themselves. We had to go out to them. We found out later the crew leader's name was Corey. He never told us that or introduced  himself. <br /> Corey had an attitude with my husband when my husband pointed out areas that they missed on the parge work. He said the color would not match and so what difference did it make. <strong>Speaking of the color of the cement, when the work was planned no one advised us it would be different. This should have been told to us up front.<br /> </strong>We had a hard time getting them back to complete the working by moving our hot tub back on the slab of concrete they installed. That did finally happen. The concrete pads that they poured were satisfactory. The wall outside of our basement is not. So we sent this message to the company: <br /> <em>"Jenny, Overall we are not satisfied with the work that was performed on our house in June. The wall outside of our basement was replaced but the cement on top of the block is so thin that you can see the blocks through it.In addition, the parge work on the foundation cracks started well but got sloppy as the day wore on. Please take a look at the pictures I have included. Would you be happy with work on your home that looks like this? We would like to have someone from Legacy look at this project and arrange to have it corrected as soon as possible."<br /> Her response was "George agrees. Corey and crew are headed over there now."<br /> </em>We had no idea we received that response since we were not on our email at the time "Corey and crew" showed up. He said he heard we sent an email complaining about his work. Again he was argumentative with my husband. He said there was nothing wrong with the work and blamed the wet weather for the wall's appearance. He was standing on the sidewalk with his crew standing behind him in our yard. <br /> Who does that? What kind of company would send the person that did the poor job in the first place to review his own work? <br /> Needless to say when we sent the last email about what had transpired with Corey we never heard back from the company again. <br />

After giving them a deposit we went several weeks without hearing from them.  After recontacting them several times we finally scheduled a day for the job, mainly delayed due to rain.  The contract included one "load" of fill dirt and we were told that should be enough unless something unusual was uncovered and had to be removed.  The problem turned out to be a small collapsed old septic tank that we didn't know was there.  They compacted it down and tracked down and compacted the remainder of the system.  Unfortunately, when the job was "done" the area was still depressed relative to the surrounding ground.  They blamed it on settling but it was like that from the time they finished.  We thought they should bring more fill to complete the job, but they said they brought the one "load", which is an unknown quantity and not a standard measure.  They first tried to tie the completion of that job to another follow on job.  When we said we wanted the original job completed first, they said they would charge us an additional $250 to bring a "load" of topsoil.  We asked for topsoil since we did not want them to use equipment and dig up the area again.  Anyway, we declined that and do not plan to do any business with this company in the future.  They also never bothered to give us estimates for the other jobs they recommended, including repairing a concrete doorway which they recommended we should have our carpenter remove the threshold first.  We were under the impression they would do that job and so we had the threshold removed, but they never mentioned that job again and so now we have a hole underneath our rear garage door that we have to hire someone else to fix.  Aside from the disagreement about finishing the sink hole job, their lack of communication makes them very difficult to work with.  We expected better based on our initial impression meeting George.

I'd used this vendor before to replace my sidewalk and repair (using Ardex) concrete crumbling of an exterior back step.  As they did a good job, this seemed a safe choice.  While they did a good job on this as well, it took forever to get on the schedule.  Although I paid the initial deposit on 3/29, the work wasn't perfomed until 5/20, and only then because I made an issue of it.  It rained torrentially in April and May so crews were available for indoor work.  The problem seemed to be that I needed to be home and I needed two days notice for my employer.  These guys normally work when the owner is absent.  Although Legacy proposed that I essentially "leave a key under the mat" to provide increased flexibility, I didn't really feel comfortable with that.  While I believe that Legacy is trustworthy, the contractor couldn't be responsible for things that occurred once they left the property.  In any case, the repair solved the problem, though the actual work took about two hours (vs. the four in the original estimate).

It went really well. They gave me a good estimate. Other than trying to schedule around the weather, everything went smoothly. They showed up and did the work in two days. The work turned out fine.

Generally, things went well. The estimate provider (George) arrived on time (important because I took time off work to meet him). I was particularly worried about the basement steps. Concrete chunks had fallen from the wall, exposing rebar. George offered two possibilities: repour the steps or use a product called Ardex. Although relatively new, Legacy had used this successfully for others. I chose Ardex because it was less expensive and I worried that perhaps the concrete wouldn't set properly this late in the year. The contract arrived promptly and Legacy answered questions through the process. The job actually took 3 days (initially estimated as 2). The tensest part occurred on the first day (12/2). Initially, I expected the crew at 9 AM, but they didn't actually appear until 12:30. No one shared this with me. Apparently, two things impacted communication. First, the crew encountered equipment failure. This could have happened to anyone and it wouldn't have bothered me if someone had just phoned. Second, generally the crews work while the owners are absent, meaning they didn't feel the need to call because they didn't think that I was home. I discussed this at length with the president and she understood my concerns. The final result looks good and I would hire these folks again.

George came out to give us an estimate, and even offered to replace our wooden steps with concrete, because he said he would have to order an amount of concrete that was more than what was required to simply replace that section of our driveway that needed to be replaced. I wanted to keep our wooden steps, however, so I declined this offer. We signed the contract on the spot, though, and provided a downpayment, since George gave us the best price and seemed very earnest, knowledgeable, and sincere. He said a professional concrete mixing truck would come with the concrete. We didn't know exactly when this would happen, though, and indeed, we had a couple or more of rainy weeks that delayed the work.. Then, one day, a couple of guys from Legacy Contracting showed up with no notice and even started to tear up the remaining portion of that section of the driveway that needed to be removed to pour the new concrete before I realized what was going on. (Fortunately, I was home.) I then went outside to see what was going on -- or one of the guys came to the door -- I don't remember now which happened first -- but the end result is if I hadn't been home to move the car (sometimes I go away with my husband in his car), the car in the garage would have been stuck there until the concrete had hardened enough to be able to drive over it -- and I wouldn't have had a car to drive during that period. The two guys then proceeded to prepare that part of the driveway for the new concrete, tearing up that section of the driveway that needed to (entirely) come out, and removing it with the front loader that they had brought with them. They then laid the rebar, used a straight board at the edge of the driveway to hold in the concrete to be poured (I later realized this board should have been curved, because we have a slight curve in our driveway), and then proceeded to mix bags of Quikrete (I believe it was) by hand in the bed of the front loader, and pour it into the form, such as it was. My husband (who, by then, had left work early to come home to see how the work was going) and I provided the hose, which these guys didn't have, since they were going back and forth to the water spigot -- a fair distance away -- with a container, to get water to mix the concrete. When it came to smoothing off the surface of the concrete, one of the guys did the best he could with a trowel that he had with him, since these guys admitted they didn't have the proper tools to do the job. Needless to say, rather than the surface being smooth like the rest of the driveway, it had swirls, although very nice-looking swirls -- still, not something you want on a driveway. Finally, to make a long story short, Legacy Contracting redid the job, bringing out a professional concrete mixing truck to pour the concrete, just as we had been told in the beginning. In fact, Legacy Contracting sent George out (I believe) the day after the first faulty job, and promised at that time to redo the job "right." Still, there was about a week's delay (as I recall), before the same two guys came out, this time to tear up and remove the concrete they had laid the week before. This time, as it turned out, we got an email very early in the morning (earlier than I get up), telling us that the "old" concrete would be removed that day and the new concrete poured. Still, the same two guys started to rip up the driveway before I even knew they were there and that the work was going to be done that day, so I was barely able to get the car out of the garage -- again -- before it would have been "too late." If we had been even been away for a couple of days, we wouldn't have known that the work was going to be performed that day, and the car could have been "stuck" in the garage until the "new" concrete had hardened. This time, in fact (after the second pouring), we left the car out of the garage for two weeks before we drove over the "new" concrete, since I remembered George had told us to wait that long, not just two days, as we had been told for the (first) Quikrete. So, I have given Legacy Contracting a "B," even though the work was done well the second time (even preserved the "curve" at the edge of our driveway), because it took Legacy Contracting two tries to do this (I still don't have a clue who those first two guys were, or why they tried to do the job without the proper tools, and without the professional concrete mixing truck), and the notice Legacy Contracting gave us -- needed to get the car out of the garage so it wouldn't be "stuck"-- was just pitiful. (I would have been content with a day's notice, provided we could confirm that the next day, was, in fact, "okay" with us.) This, despite the fact that Legacy Contracting was very apologetic about the first faulty job and immediately promised to redo it "right." So, yes, I would use Legacy Contracting again, but I would hope for a better experience.

We spent about $3200 on that work. The workers provided good service and they did what I thought they were supposed to do. When the concrete dried, it did not look like any color was added, and I was very unhappy. I had other contractors look at it and they also agreed that it did not look like any colorant was added. I made many calls to the company to have George, the President, come out to see my complaint. My messages and calls were unanswered for months. When the secretary took my concerns and promised a callback, I never received one. The Quality Control Manager was to call me, and he never called. My calls went on for over 5 months. George finally came out and insisted there was color in the concrete but said he would add a colorant on top of the existing concrete and would send me the estimate of cost. When the estimate came, I nearly fell over! It was the SAME PRICE as the original job of digging a front walk including concrete and labor for four workers. The price was insane. George validated the price by saying that it would take 2 men 2 days to do the job. I felt ripped off by his price to correct the color, and would never use them again.

In providing the estimate, they were prompt. They were very good and very knowledgeable. They knew what they were talking about. They were very professional and explained everything in detail to me. In doing the actual work, they were outstanding from start to finish! Professional, prompt, courteous. All services performed according to specifications as stated in quotation. Would absolutely recommend to anyone needing driveway repair or complete replacement. In fact, several of our neighbors approached us about our experience and we highly recommended Legacy to all.

Excellent. After having many people stop by and never returning, Legacy was very professional, honest, and punctual. They came when they said they would, did the job professionally, and, most impressively, followed up with a visit and phone calls to see if we were satisfied with the job.
