Prompt Honest Courteous Service. Leonard's Auto Repair Inc. and is a second generation family owned and operated used car dealer and auto shop which was started by Lewis "Leonard" Desmarais in 1936. We have been in the forest park section of Springfield now celebrating our 75th year. Leonard “Len” Desmarais is the current owner. We have been at our 288 Allen street location now for over 40 years! We have been serving many local families, some for three generations, a fact that we are very proud of. Brakes were working on the first pump then failing.  Len traced it back to the timing and solved the problem.  Chatted for a while -- he's an engine guy all the way, and of the proper vintage (ahem) to know how to handle cars from the '60's and '70's.  I recommend him. <br />

I don't remember all the details of the problem. I broke down in the middle of an intersection and the police were not happy. However, they stayed with me until the vehicle was picked up. I had never used Leonards before but I was very pleased with their service. <br />

He is a great and really really nice guy. He was very understanding like my husband travels a lot if we said can we wait until Friday or whatever to pick up the car. He just kept finding more and more and more problems with the car. It was over heating and so when we went to pick it up he said he didn't notice it over heating and then we drove it around and it was over heating so we had to bring it back so I think he was good guy and he tried hard to help us. We would consider using them again. <br /> <br />

catalytic converter and oxygen sensors had been replaced by a different company, withcheck engine light having come back on within days - based upon your rating I went to Leonards to diagnose problem and correct - they did it thoroughly and quickly

We decided not to fix the car, and resigned ourselves for shopping for a new car.  <br /> I told Len this, and he asked what we were looking for.  He called around to dealers he trusted, found us a replacement vehicle right away, took our old car for a trade-in, checked over the replacement car tip to tail, and got us back on the road with a good vehicle at a good price. <br />

Car repairs are pretty much high everywhere, but their prices are competitive.  They don’t have the best price in town, but they are not exceptionally high either.  They are very honest, which you don’t find in car mechanics very often.  They are very knowledgeable.  They call me before they do a job to call and explain what needs to be done and what my options are.  They don’t talk to me like I am stupid because I am a woman.  I don’t feel they take advantage of me.  I have been using them for about fifteen years.  My children take their vehicles there too.

I feel like they are very honest. They are reliable and they don't do any unnecessary work. Their prices are reasonable. There is just a handful of auto repair places in the Springfield area, that are approved by AAA and they are one of them.
