The contractor did a good job. It only took him about 4 hours of work and buying materials at Home Depot, but I am satisfied.

They arrived on time and were very professional. The work was done when promised and they cleaned up after. Everything looks great and very neat.

Scott kept me waiting all summer. He finally showed up last week but didn't finish the job. He said he would return on Saturday to finish. I waited until 11 a.m. and called him. He said he wasn't coming, no excuse, just not coming. He thought he would return next week. No way! This guy is very unreliable.

The team was great! Do to the fact it was a hectic period in my life, I needed most of the communication to be done over e-mail which they did. The quality of work exceeded my expectations. The unit is on the 10th floor
and build staff made a point to tell me how respectful the team was to them and to others in the building. This group made what could have been a stressful experience, an experience where I did not have to think about the details of prepping the unit for sale.
When we purchased the Market Ready service from TNTS through Angie's List back in December 2014, I expected that our $89 would buy us a visit from someone who would simply walk through our home and point out things that, if improved, would make our home ready to be put on the market for sale. However, when Brandon and Leslie arrived, they exceeded every expectation we had! A Black-owned business, local to Milton (our hometown), a man with significant contracting experience, savvy, and extremely persuasive. By the time he left, we felt TNTS was our dream come true. Finally, someone who would get into the boat with us! TNTS would have as much interest in preparing our home for sale, selling it, and purchasing a new home for us as we did ourselves

We were impressed with his professionalism and would recommend you to others.

Our only disappointment was their inexperience working with large insurance claims. By February, our home was severely damage by ice dams. We were never able to enter into a contract to renovate our home and make it ready for sale.
Complete nightmare from start to finish.

Back in November, 2014, I got an estimate from Top Notch to replace the siding , the 2 decks for my rental property and replace all the windows. The quote sounded reasonable. I then asked how much it would be to upgrade the deck material from wood to Trek composite and Leslie, the project manager, quoted me between $2500 and $3000 more. Without getting a revised quote from them, I gave her the ok to ahead and I mailed her a 50% deposit. They told me in writing, they were looking to start the job in 1-2 weeks.

A month later, the job still hasn't started and then I got a new estimate for $16,500 more instead of the expected $2,500-$3,000. They admitted that there were a few oversights in the original estimate. They omitted the costs for the soffits & facias, they had decided to upgrade the siding material without my consent, and they told me the $2500-$3000 for the Trex upgrade was only for the boards and not the railing system.

Keep in mind that they already had my 50% deposit at this point. So I worked with them and paid for the deck upgrade but not the siding -I said I didn't ask for that and I don't want it (shame on them for sneaking in extra charges for things I didn't request nor made aware of!).

Another month and a half went by and now, it was mid-January and they still hadn't started citing that it takes that long to get a building permit (short form) from the City of Boston. Btw, most short forms are issued the same day. Then of course, we all knew what happened -the snow came. I had to drop the window replacement job from them because they just couldn't handle the load.

The siding & decks job wasn't substantially complete until late April, 2015. What should have been a 3 week job took them more than 5 months.

There were so many problems and arguments in between - I couldn't handle them anymore so I passed them onto my husband to handle. This was THE worse contractor experience I've ever encountered .

Here were some of the other issues I encountered were:

1. They ripped out some of the old sidings before they were ready to put the new ones in. This left the interior wood panels exposed to the elements of this past winter - they didn't wrap it with Tyvex for protection either.

2) They actually tried to tell me in mid-project that the price didn't include the Trex railing systems when it was a big point of contention earlier on.

3) The craftsmanship was sub-par . So many things had to be redone . I.e. My property is still missing a 8' piece of vinyl siding, and the supporting beams are exposed wood - they weren't wrapped in Trex .

4) Top Notch uses all subcontractors . Not very productive ones at that! A few times I was on site at 7am and they were all gone by noon, citing that they were "out of stock".

5) Didn't get a dumpster for the job and left construction debris all around the property for months ! Mind you, this was a vinyl siding and decks replacement job.

6) Leslie then blamed me for causing delays in the project because of the "change orders" - I removed the windows replacement job because they couldn't handle the load and I requested the Trex upgrade for the decks 2 weeks after I got the original quote. Leslie would twist the facts and try to blame us for any delays or sub-par craftmanship and then the owner, Brandon, had to step in to mediate the situation. They did this a few times, that got really old and annoying

It got so bad that we had to fire them. Which we did! But somehow, we both knew that the fastest and cheapest way to resolve the problem was just to let them finish the job . So we had lots of meetings to resolve the issues - they were very stressful and time consuming - but now I've moved on with my life. This was not an experience I want to have again. EVER.

I would never recommend them to anyone .
They made two visits and were very specific about what work needs to be done, and how it could be done at different price levels. They could do it promptly by bringing in their own crews. That would be very useful for someone who needs to sell right away (an estate, etc.) Since we are not ready to sell in the immediate future, we will do the work one project at a time, slowly, as we can afford it. Their advice was more than worth the price. They are very professional.
We had an original contractor that came out to quote the job, and we received an estimate, but the contractor never showed up to do the work. We contacted Top Notch and were told that they would send another contractor to come out, this time accompanied by the owner. During this appointment, they asked us if we'd purchased dewrock, which we had not because it was not included in the estimate, and we were told this would be an additional $300. The technician finally came out to perform the job, and the work was just terrible. The wrong saw was used, and the tiles were jagged and did not look good at all. They sent someone from their office out to see the work, and the owner sent out another contractor who advised that all of the previous work needed to be ripped out. He backed out of the job. The technicians that were taking care of the demo who were supposed to lay the tile. We ended up waiting for them on the evening that they were supposed to come out, and heard later that they were in a car accident and received a concussion. We waited a couple more days, and another technician was sent out. We have already been pushed back for a month due to incompetence of the technicians and the owner. The work was better the second time, but there are a few chipped tiles, grout missing from multiple areas on the floor and backsplash. There was no caulking put between the backsplash and the countertop, just uneven grout. When they removed the original incorrect job, they had to rip out walls that were never repaired. A few of the outlets cannot be covered because the tiles are too thick. The moulding on the floor does not allow the heater to be replaced the way it needs to be. Also, the thresholds are left unfinished. The technicians continued to wash their hands in our sink, which contributed to our pipes having complications due to the mortar and grout in them. Additionally, our driveway needs to be powerwashed because of the residue from the bags of mortar and grout left out in the rain, which has caused staining. It's because of these unfinished aspects that we are withholding the final $260 payment, but instead of fixing the issues, the the owner has become verbally abusive and threatening legal action when we have calmly tried to address this with him.

UPDATE: AS you can see below Brandon the "owner" has not addressed any claim that we have made. Two and half months have gone by and after spending a few thousand dollars and countless hours of my own time to fix the mess that TNTS made we are still not able to completely correct the issues that they created. He references the project being larger than we decided on but the 30K was for an attic remodel that we specifically stated we would want to do after we see their work on our kitchen......THANK GOD we did it that way! They agreed to this process and I have two separate quotes that show this. The contractor was switched so many times and Brandon stating each time that this was his "best guy" we started to see how this business is run. Each new contractor that came in refused to clean up the last contractors mess and we were forced to track down Brandon on multiple occasions. Brandon also states that he decided to redo the job at no cost to us which is untrue because he first tried to bully us into paying 1200 dollars after he ripped it out not before. Also I think a "5 day job" that lasted over two months and kept us out of our kitchen is enough payment for their mistake. This company may be great for moving the elderly and helping hoarders but please do not I repeat do not hire them for any thing that you would like done professionally. The fact that they state I posted a review a to get out of paying 200 speaks volumes of their character. We were appalled when we saw the "finished" project and we asked Brandon nothing more than to finish the job before we paid the 200.
Response from LifeCycle Transitions
"The allegation and complaints by the client are entirely false and unwarranted. The project was originally estimated at $30,000 to do an entire rebuild in which the back-splash and tiling of the ceramic floor was included. However the client elected to only do the floor at $2600.00, which for a ale carte price wasn't obtainable. Our original contractor who estimated the work, decided not to do the work considering the client only wanted to get a small portion of work done and the proposal was based on entire rebuild price. Rather than disappointing the client, we decided to reassign another contractor and honor the price quoted which we would come back later to haunt us. Our contractor began the work as scheduled and two weeks later we received notification from the client that the works wasn't satisfactory, so per our company policy we immediately sent our quality assurance personal to inspect the work and true enough the client was correct the work wasn't performed properly at all. Due to lack of leveling of flooring initially rather than to complete poor quality we decided at our own expense to completely rip up the entire floor and installed all new material despite that in the original estimate it didn't include repairing preexisting sub floor. Management decided to include that without a single up charge to the client out of pocket. Had this portion of the project been bid separately from the entire rebuild price, it would have cost the client $6,500.00, but we honored the price at $2600.00 despite being notified of the cost of gutting and additional labor being cheaper to refund the client and walk away. At the close of the project we had a loss of $2,800, and additionally the client refused to pay the remaining balance of $260.00 after all the tile work was redone. At TNTS we encourage our clients to be open and honest during all renovations and remodels so that we have the opportunity to address and solve all issues. At TNTS we address all issues onsite and do not abandon our clients when faced with a challenging situation. In this case, the client notified us of the concerns 3 days after the job was completed when our office attempted to satisfy the remaining balance. This is very disappointing that all our efforts to satisfy this client request at the cost of $2600.00 and giving him a $6500 job of including ceramic tiling and back-splash herringbone style with custom corners and edges for the cost of $2600.00 that he'll beat us over $200.00 and post an outlandish review to get out of paying $200.00."

The door was installed by TNTS in sep 2014 by the previous owner of the house. We bought the house in Jan 2015 and the door was not closing properly and was very draftyI. contacted TNTS and they agreed to send someone to look at it. The service guy was not able to fix the problem. He told me to replace the thumb latch. I replaced the thumb latch at my expense and the problem remained. TNTS refused to send the guy back out to fix the door and make it close properly.
Response from LifeCycle Transitions
"Hello [Member Name Removed], We would like to thank you for sharing your experience. When you initially called into the office, our office assistant was under the impression that TNTS was hired by yourself in September of 2014. Under those pretenses, we sent out a carpenter (free of charge) to address the issue. When our carpenter arrived on the premises, he was able to assess the door and hoped that by fixing the latch the issue would have been corrected. Our carpenter stated that there was damage done to the door (after installation) and that the door was initially installed properly. Unfortunately, the actual client who hired TNTS is not included in this equation because he sold the house to you. We have concluded that this is an issue with between yourself and the previous home owner who sold the home to you. The door was installed properly, hence the reason why the client never called TNTS to complain about this door. We advise that you contact the previous owner to establish why the door is not properly closing. We home that you are able to come to a resolution with the previous home owner. Thank you. We hope that"
