Very slowly with poor communication with contractor. Sloppy work in some places. Poor communication between contractor and sub-contractors. And it took forever to complete with very poor excuses for delays.

Two crews showed up to do the windows. One was very good with interior window trim and exterior caulking. The second crew left too large a gap between most interior moldings and had to be redone. Exterior caulking by the second crew has resulted in water leaks when washing down the windows. Also, the silicone caulking around the exterior edge of the windows was too wide and has attracted dirt giving us a brown rim around our white windows. The individual contracted to do the front wood door was not very cooperative and had to be called back to do a better job.

I phoned for an estimate, the properties were empty so they went out and measured, faxed me the estimate and we did the rest by phone and fax. I was promised a date when the windows would be replaced and the following day I went to the property. The windows had been replaced and all signs of debris were gone. I couldn't be happier with an installation.

We were initially told it would take two weeks before we would get them in. After three weeks and we hadn't heard a peep, I called and was told they should be on the shipment that day. They came out and installed them, we love the doors themselves however, we were told that they would replace the moulding inside if they could not salvage the existing moulding. They replaced it alright but with a metal type of moulding used for exteriors. So now we have a 4 inch wide metal wood grain looking moulding that does not match any of the interior moulding but matches the exterior moulding just fine. Who wants it to match the outside? This is in our dining area and our bedroom. The installation job they did is fine, even the way the moulding is installed is fine, but really, metal exterior grade moulding on the inside. Our second complaint is that we have 2x6 exterior construction. The sliders are not made for 2x6 construction so, were left with a raw, unfinished sill of 2 inches that we have to somehow fix or have a stucco guy come out and cover it up. We were never told this in the beginning and Roy, the owner knew the type of exterior walls we had. So after the doors were installed, we waited for our windows to arrive. We were told they would be in the next shipment. Well, we originally signed our contract on July 26, 2014 and after four phone calls later, we finally got the job completed on September 12, 2014 and only after I had to make contact with them. They sure were quick on the draw to call us when we made the inquiry for the windows and doors but follow up service is lacking to say the least. The installer himself who is contracted by Roy is good and very pleasant however, it is not up to him to make the phone calls to keep us informed. I will not be recommending this company for friends or relatives unless you don't mind waiting and making your own phone calls to follow up on status.
So, I think, I can do that and upgrade and they did a good job. They came out and set a couple of days working on a gutter install. It was well done. They set out at a guy who went a water strip, do the measurement and look at the project. He did an excellent job of windows made full. There was a couple of fit problems and nothing major. It took a long time for them to custom made the windows. We all deny and anticipated but probably not unusually well fine. They custom made all the windows first. It was an excellent job.

Signed contract with Roy on nov-2013. It hasn't been done yet till.3/27/2014. When I signed the contract , I mentioned him holiday plans(thanksgiving and christmas) with family. Roy promised it should be completed by end of November. I got first door jan/21/2014. Until it happened, I had to call and call.i have very busy schedule most of days.he rescheduled three times. Doors were done on 3/3/2014 finally.it was long long story to get it done.. I spent more than 10, 000 $ .then I got junk blinds.it wasnt covered doors and even shorter than door size. I had 3days blinds on my old doors which is one of the best company , high quality and best custom service.Roy sighed to put the same company blinds. But he didnt .I had to make million calls and fight for my blinds back. I have been fighting for 25 days to make him complete blinds as our contract. I paid for instalation fee today because i am getting tire of these situations and his playing then I could order blinds today.the owner may say i lie. I have all documents and pictures even witnesses including 3day blinds design consultant. I mean I am telling the facts. AnywayIt is the best day today.it is over.
Roy's employees did a fantastic job. We could not be happier with our new doors. If we had any complaints, it would only be to say that it took a little longer than expected, but Roy's office warned us a little about it ahead of time. The reason why it took some extra time is that the primary installer is getting along in years, and is a complete perfectionist in his work. BUT, let me stress, his work is worth an extra day or two of waiting. Our doors use to not only leak cold air, but you could see space between the door and the frame. Roy's employees fixed all of that. Our new doors seal up nicely, and close with little to no effort.

I will give only one warning to anyone looking to have their doors replaced, and this has nothing to do with Roy or his employees: we had Roy's guys do both our windows and our doors, but in separate projects. The windows were retrofit windows and were quickly done with very little mess. The doors on the other hand required removal of not only the old door, but also the existing frame around it. This was a lot more messy, which would nor have been a big deal had we anticipated it. Fortunately, it was nothing that a little bit of plastic and some drop cloths could not take care of. Just make sure you use the plastic and drop cloth prior to ripping out the old doors.

I think the best way that I can sum up our opinion of Roy and his workers is state that we just signed another contract to do some ore work for us. If you're looking to have work done, Roy is your guy: respectful, reasonably priced, punctual, and the finished product is excellent.

***UPDATE 10/9/13: OUR WINDOWS ARE LEAKING!!!! Not just a little, RIVERS are running down the inside of our windows! We found out that this type of replacement windows they simply tear out the old innards, pop the new window inside with the old frame, screw it in on the inside, and then use a lot of caulking. The contractor ensured us during the consultation that these types of windows would not leak. He is wrong, and badly. We are only 6 months later in the middle of our first real rain storm, and our house is being flooded! 1 window leaked about a month go, but it wasn't much. We called them, they came out and recaulked it. Today, 3 more windows have water pouring through them. We literally could barely keep up with the mess using towels. We could not use buckets because the leaks are against the window itself.

As I indicated below, the guys who did the installation are really nice, but I just don't think this is the correct way to replace windows. I think to really do the job correctly, they need to take out the whole window and put in a new frame with a new window. I would NEVER EVER waste my time or money on retrofit windows again. It does seem warmer in the house, but they do not seal out the water when it rains/snows.

To be honest, we actually weren't going to hire Roy at first. He started off great by showing up exactly on time to quote the windows; however, we were a little put off at first because he didn't actually take any measurements of the windows. He merely counted them and then eyeballed the size from the ground outside the house, which was different than the other contractors that we had give us quotes. This seemed odd not only because he was different than the other people we had give us quotes, but also because we have a 2 story house, but when I asked Roy if he needed to measure the windows, he merely said, and quot;I've been doing this for over 30 years and can pretty much tell the sizes from here.and quot; Things got even more odd when he basically just wrote down the quote on a piece of paper.

Well, fortunately for all involved, the other contractors didn't work out. One was not licensed to do the work he was doing and the other we didn't like how they installed their windows. So, we decided to do a little research ad give Roy a try.

I checked his status on both the BBB and contractors state license board, then called his office to get some references, which they not only were more than willing to provide, but also had many to check on. I drove by 5 different houses and they all looked good, even if the work had been done several years before. So, we decided to give Roy a chance, and just planned on getting a written contract. Fortunately for us, Roy alleviated all of our concerns when he came out the second time. This time, he brought an assistant and they not only measured all of the widows, Roy wrote up a formal contract for us to review and sign. After we signed the contract and put down a 10% deposit, Roy ordered the windows. They came in about 10 days later and his guys started the work the following Monday.

His workers showed up on time, and were very polite and friendly. They started by giving us a nice overview on the whole process of replacing our windows and explaining how long they thought it would take. After their introductory interview, they commenced working cleaning as they went. Roy's employees were courteous, efficient! and did not cuss or drink while on the job. They not only did a beautiful job, they did the work in half a day less than they told us it would take, and also took down and rehung our blinds.

We are extremely happy with Lifetime Exterior's work, and have already signed another contract to have them install new exterior doors for us. I would HIGHLY recommend Roy and his workers.

The installers arrived on time and with the product I had ordered. They were efficient and professional in the installation process and took the time to explain the locking mechanisms, and it was evident that they wanted me to be satisfied with my purchase. They removed the old doors, cleaned up all of the debris from the change out and cleaned the glass on the doors as well.
