Larry W. and his crew did a "Great Job" of extensive interior renovations/repairs of my 1100sf house in Orangeburg, which included interior & exterior carpentry, subfloor repair, all new interior doors, all new bath vanities & plumbing fixtures, refinishing kitchen cabinets, priming & new paint and new flooring throughout the entire home. They worked very efficiently, and Larry always kept me updated on the weekly progress with current photos. He also gave me good recommendations on material selection to make the final renovations look appealing. The finished project was quality and looked very professional. I highly recommend L& L Home Improvements for any remodel work you need in central SC.

Job was done timely, professionally and it looks fantastic. Very pleased with outcome of the entire project and will call in future for other home improvement projects!

When the deck was originally built, they didn't put the concrete on the ground in the bottom; so the wood was in the contact with the soil.  The home inspector said the deck needed to have a concrete mold in the bottom and put the wood back in the bottom; so the wood is against the concrete, not the soil.  They did an okay job.  We asked them to give an estimate for the second project and they did not give the quote.  We think it was not their specialty and we wanted a home improvement work.  The guy recommended us to do a certain thing and it was not we ended up doing because we got three different estimates/ recommendation from people.  It was outrageous what he was going to charge to do it.  His prices were a little high.  He came quickly on the time schedule.  He got it done very quickly.  It was all happening in the middle of snow.   We had another contractor telling that their price was higher, but we didn't have the time to wait for the repair.  We didn't know how it would hold up; but what needed to be done, they did what needed to be done.  They were pretty responsive.  They sent the email back and forth when we had any question.  We had schedule a time for him to come the first day for the quote and we thought we were doing at 11.  We called him at 11:30 or 12 and he didn't realize that he told us a time.  He ended up coming at 1, so there was a little bit of miscommunication in there.  He was on time when he came to do the actual work.

Larry did a good job and even provided an additional service which was neither estimated nor charged for.  He is a pleasant and punctual individual.  While I answered "yes" to whether or not I'd use this company again it was due to the requirement of the response form.  I think his price may have been a bit high but his was the only estimate I had as this was somewhat of a rush job.  I'd certainly choose him again for an estimate however.

A lot of the project went well.  The carpenters were excellent and well worth the price.  I couldn't be happier with the tile job Mitch did!  I will tell you that over the course of this project, there were a total of 6 carpenters, 2 at a time that came and went, either quit or were fired.  ALL of the carpenters were far superior to the painter.   I am having paint and stain come off of wood in both interior and exterior areas.  Before the project was over I noticed stain was thin and missing from boards on the deck.  The painter gave me a gallon of the stain so I CAN FIX IT MYSELF!  I know I shouldn't have paid for this job, but like I said, I was ready for them to be gone. 

As a licensed contractor and civil engineer I have three problems when I hire contractors to perform work at my home: <br /> <br /> 1.  I usually do the work myself, because I have high standards and no tolerance for shoddy work <br /> <br /> 2.  I travel frequently and am difficult to stay in contact with <br /> <br /> 3.  I try to document exactly what I'm looking for up front, usually with drawings and a written specification.  I often scare contractors away, since they perceive I will be impossible to please. <br /> <br /> L & L Total Home Improvements was referred to me by my neighbor's son, an electrician, who had a good experience.  I arranged a meeting with Larry Westerfield at my home, walked him through the work that needed to be done, and emailed him copies of the drawing, specification (it was extensive), and photographs of the damaged siding that needed to be replaced.  Larry replied within the agreed upon time with a written estimate, we negotiated terms of payment, and I authorized him to proceed. <br /> <br /> Two days later I received the dreaded telephone call.  As Larry was trying to source the raw materials required and hire a carpenter to do the work, he was advised to back out of the deal because it would end badly as I would be "impossible to please".  I asked him to reconsider and meet me at my home to discuss his specific concerns and see if we could negotiate which items in my specification seemed unreasonable.  I met Larry and Mike Hutto (his carpenter) at my home.  Further examination revealed more water damage where the original deck joined the house and Mike suggested a herringbone pattern for the deck boards, so we reviewed all of the details, renegotiated the price and finalized the deal. <br /> <br /> As I write this review, looking outside at my new deck, I'm still amazed at how well this project came together.  Larry sourced the EXACT materials I requested, in some instances exceeding my requirements (i.e. heavy gauge flashing!)  Mike regularly asked questions and made suggestions that yielded a BETTER deck than what i had specified.  I'm sure this job has been a nuisance for both Larry and Mike because the house was built in the 70's, out of square and out of plumb, and clad with siding and trim difficult to match. <br /> <br /> Did everything go perfectly?  Of course not - we're all human.  I understand that Larry employs independent contractors who are juggling multiple priorities.  All I cared about was the budget and schedule, which was honored.  I mentioned to Larry that a phone call or email to let me know days when no one would be working would be helpful for other members of my household. <br /> <br /> As I stated above, I usually do my own work because I'm a perfectionist and I enjoy the satisfaction.  It's like therapy for me.  I confessed to Larry and Mike that for the first time EVER the quality of their work exceeded what I could have done myself. <br /> <br /> The next time I need to tackle a project I just can't handle myself (or know I'll just never finish!) I know who to call. <br />

Everything went well. They were very punctual from start to finish. Very professional and courteous. I could tell they were experienced simply by their demeanor and the tools they were carrying. You get a feeling inside when you know you are getting good service versus bad and my feeling are good all around. The steps/porch they built looks like I paid an arm and a leg for them but I did'nt. This is a blessing that I found them.

LOVE the craftsmanship!  Very respectful of our timeline and budget.  EXTREMELY honest- informed us of a 200.00 error in our favor.  Work site cleaned daily.  Employees and owner very professional, courteous and overall just great Christian craftsmen.  We could not be more pleased!  We recommend this company to anyone needing a contractor!
