We were cancelled once or twice and then he finally made it out. The serviceman was pretty friendly and good in his assessment. We were satisfied when he eventually showed up.He confirmed what we were already told before. He was thorough and knew what he was talking about. The price was good and he was professional.

We have since coupled with a larger builder and now are set up to handle the ebbs and flows of seasonal business. If you need any future services we would love to prove our new abilities. Thank you!"

They did a good job, except the young lady that worked with him wasn't very tidy and didn't clean up well. She did a good job and got the varnish off. I liked the young man's work. They should be more cautious about cleaning up behind themselves. As far as the work was concerned, they did a good job. They did exactly what I wanted them to do, so it was a fair price. They were here at the time they were supposed to be.

"Thank you so much for your input, we have recently implemented a program for our employees to put protection systems to protect stairs and floors, removing these allows for easy clean up. We try to work within our time limit of the big deal. We now have a "cleaner than when we got here", policy. Sometimes the hour restraint on the Big Deal encourages us to do more work than clean. We apologize we didn't leave your home "cleaner than when we got here""

The work was very poor quality. I have had them come out a couple of times and then I said, forget it, I don't want them around here anymore. They were neat and all that kind of stuff, but I would not want anybody else to use them. They replaced the roof and then not this past winter, but the winter before I had water pouring out of the middle of the room. He came out and said it was ice damage. He drilled some holes in my ceiling and said he would come back when it was warm. He did not and I had to call him again. He came and did a little bit of work outside but around the ex edges of the roof I don't think they sealed it properly. So water is dripping in around the edges. I may have to call someone else to come out and redo it. His pricing was pretty good. That is one of the reasons I went with him. He also had good ratings on Angie's List. He was pretty responsive, it is just that he didn't really fix it. He sometimes just showed up.

"[Member Name Removed] I am disappointed in the failings of finding your leak. I am confident (100%) it was not coming from the area we repaired. We installed an impenetrable torch down layer. I came back to reseal the seams, there was no evidence of any penetrations. I can say with no doubt that leak was coming from the upper roof. Thank you for your time."

I hate doing bad reviews, but I'm hoping Leo will see this and try to make it right. The unlicensed handyman LOMBARDO hired has just put a lien on our house for $6900. We owe Leo $2200 after the necessary corrections! Here's the story.
? Leo took the job in late April. It was supposed to take 2 weeks. We submitted a 3-D illustration of what we wanted.
? He started the job early - we were optimistic! He seemed so nice!
? He subcontracted the job out to Handyman Ministries, the owner is Tim Addy, an unlicensed handyman who does on-the-job training for ex-cons, offenders, etc. (Tim Addy "the Handyman" stated they had never worked with Lombardo before). Not sure how they found each other...Craigslist?
? Two random guys came to set the posts. They weren't measuring anything and seemed inept, so we asked Leo, "shouldn't someone be supervising these guys", he said "no, I trust them with my life". Turns out they set the main post wrong and Tim had to redo it the next day.
? In the contract we stated we wanted premium deck boards. Unattractive boards covered in seeping knots with "2" and "3" stamped on them arrived. Leo said premium boards were a "gimmick" and didn't exist (and then admitted to not knowing much about wood). We found a provider who had premium stamped boards and paid out of pocket to have them delivered.
ATTEMPT 1:
? Handyman Tim (without supervision) built the lower level of the veranda with an extreme pitch - leaving the roof below un-level and "funhouse" like. When we objected, Tim and Leo stated it had to be that way due to code. (So basically the 3-D illustration we provided was impossible from the beginning?). We spoke with the city building inspector the next day who refuted that the extreme pitch was necessary. They agreed to fix it.
ATTEMPT 2:
? They tried to correct the pitch, but the posts were too short...so they cut 12 inch post pieces and tried to cobble them onto the tops of the existing posts. The inspector rejected this fix as unstable, and recommended they get an architectural engineer.
ATTEMPT 3:
At this point Tim and Leo admitted to not knowing how to built a deck like this. Leo was deferring to Tim as the "expert". As the homeowners, we were forced to do extensive research into how decks are supposed to be built and tried working with the inspector to get this done. Tim spoke with the inspector and said he now knew how to fix it. He put in new posts cut at the cement level and attached them with brackets. The inspector rejected this fix too - saying he used the wrong brackets, and recommended they get an architectural engineer -AGAIN.
ATTEMPT 4:
My husband and I started communicating with the inspector, who told us due to the blunders above, the deck now needed ugly knee brackets. We accepted the compromise because we just wanted it done.
THEN THE LEAKING STARTED.

? "I'm a roofing expert" - that's what Leo said when we questioned how he'd planned to keep the roof from leaking around the newly added knee braces and posts that went through the roof.
ATTEMPT 5:
? After the beadboard went up on the ceiling of the lower level, we had a rain. Rain poured through the fresh beadboard. When talking to the inspector, he suggested we get Rick Luccassian in on this. Apparently Leo didn't pull a permit with his own license - but borrow the license number from another contractor! (owner of Grosse Pointe Builders).
ATTEMPT 6&7:

? We called Rick Luccassian (who is on the permit), he seemed helpful, but this was the first time we spoke with him or met him. We were on site for 95% of the project, and Rick never oversaw this project or knew what was really going on.
2 more attempts were made to seal the leak, both failing. At this point we asked for a "real roofer" to install it. We asked Rick to have Tim stop trying/experimenting.
A licensed roofer they found came by, took one look and said he "wasn't interested". (Suggesting it was too far gone).
Attempt 8:
A different guy came over and slapped a ton of roofing material over the existing roof. Now the slight slope needed for runoff isn't fully functioning, but the leak in that corner stopped. They also installed the top deck railing crooked - so it is off by almost 2 inches! Did I mention near the end of the job they failed to find the vinyl post sleeves? We had to research where to get them and drive 2 hours to pick them up - paying out of pocket.
During these 8 attempts - our deckboards were aggressively screwed and unscrewed several times. In the final screwing, we noticed they were drilling the screws so deep into the deck that the wood was splintering. When we asked them about this, a worker said "it's just a deck." Now the boards are almost impossible to unscrew and are splintering at every screw. We can't walk out there barefoot without a ton of splinters.
FINALE:

We had already paid $8000 to Leo (2/3's), and after deducting the materials we had to buy, we agreed that $2200 was owed upon full completion.
We asked that the deckboards that had been destroyed on the 8 attempts be replaced, and that then we would pay him and call it a day. The top level is the worst - because of all the roof redo's.
He said no, his unlicensed handyman who botched the job was now in charge. Rick (the guy on the license) won't return calls.

These guys have left us NO OPTIONS. We are now in the process of finding a lawyer, and filling out "statement of complaints" for both Lombardo Restoration and Grosse Pointe Builders to the State Licensing Board. We also plan to file with the BBB...please email me if you have any other suggestions!
Oh, and the beadboard started leaking....AGAIN!!!!!!!

UPDATE: 10/16/15 - We just tookMr. Lombardo to small claims court court and sued for the maximum in damages - $5600. We won. He stated in court that he placed a $10,500 lien on my house in response to this review, and that if I took it down he would remove the lien. The judge tried to explain why this is bad, but Len didn't seem to comprehend why. Judge seemed perplexed by Len using another guy's license. The judge said "so you used a straw man to file the permit?" And then the judge shook his head.

Spoke with Angie's List and they refuse to do anything about a guy they feature who uses other people's licenses. I found him here; thanks for nothing Angie.
I had an appointment and had to leave home toward the end of the day. As he was likely to finish the job before I returned, I gave him a check for the balance due. When I got home that evening, it was obvious that he packed up and left as soon as I had gone, as no more work was done. I called immediately and received email promises to return but follow up phone calls were never responded to. That was early October and this is early April. Though some of the runoff from the roof has been diverted, large amounts of rainwater still pours down onto the rear door area.
They were on time, super friendly, and professional. When they got to my house and realized that the job was a lot smaller than they were planning on, they adjusted the price accordingly. They mudded the drywall, and gave me tips on sanding it myself. Thus saving me money and allowing it to get finished at my convenience. They were generally friendly guys and had other suggestions for various projects I was considering around my house. Things I wasn't aware of, or hadn't considered. I would definitely use again and recommend to others.
They did a nice job on our deck. It was a real tough job and they did a nice job. We're on the water and it's not against the house or anything, it's only against a sea wall that moves. It was quite a complex configuration, and it was 80 feet across. They're good. I would bring them back again. I liked their communication and the fact that they were flexible. I like the overall quality of their work. If there was something I didn't like, they addressed it or adjusted it.

They were ok. There were two gentlemen and basically the amount of time was cut into half and one gentleman wasn't really doing much work because there was not enough room for two people to work.
Response from Lombardo Total Home Solutions LLC
"When it comes to handyman deals, you purchase a certain number of work hours which is either completed by 1 or 2 people. If we run a 3-hour deal, you'll either have one handymen for 3 hours or two handymen for 1.5 hours. This is the same amount of work. To all potential AL clients: Before purchasing a handyman deal, please ensure you have a generous list of work that needs to be completed. The more that's on your list, the more can be completed in the allotted time because we can move from one project to the next. We can also work on 2 projects simultaneously if there's two of us, so keep that in mind. Leo"
