Ultimately, the product came out as promised so no complaints there. However, the journey to get the fence details ironed out and prepared for installation was so difficult that I would not use Long Fence again.
To begin, our sales representative, Robert Brooks, showed up on time and gave us a good presentation on what Long Fence could provide. At first, the price he provided was out of our budget, so he went back to his management and was able to work the fence into our budget. We thought we were off to a great start but it was all downhill from there. As we began to hone in on the specifics, we would ask questions via email and Robert would only answer half of them, which lead to multiple rounds of us having to ask the same question over and over again. Then it became apparent that Robert was not familiar with the product lines he was selling as the original quote was actually for something that did not exist within our specifications, which he was aware of from the start. This led to another round of unanswered questions, which became very frustrating. Finally after a month of back and forth, we had a signed contract but it should have not taken this long to determine exactly what we needed.
When the contact was signed, Robert promised the fence would be installed by a certain date and that he or someone else from Long Fence would call us one week before the fence would be installed to confirm the installation would occur as planned. Long Fence sent someone out from their installation team about two weeks prior to the promised installation date to conduct more precise measurements, so it appeared that everything was moving along smoothly. However, as the installation date neared, we did not hear from Long Fence so we decided to call them to find out if they would be able to keep their promise. We eventually got in contact with Vicky from their customer service department who told us that the fence had not been acquired/manufactured yet and it would not be installed by the date Robert promised. Rather than attempt to fix this error, Vicky made us feel that our expectation to have the fence installed by the date Robert promised was unreasonable, which is quite ridiculous in my opinion as the date was promised to us in writing from an employee of their firm. Vicky continued to investigate the issue and then provided us another installation date, which was three weeks after the date promised by Robert. As the new installation date neared, we once again did not hear from Long Fence. Upon following up with Vicky, we found out that they would miss the installation date once again. At this point in the relationship, Vicky and Long Fence began to take ownership of their problems and offered us a $250 discount for the trouble we experienced thus far and provided a new installation date two weeks later.
Finally, the fence was installed on this third date. The installation crew was professional, punctual, and did a fantastic job. The fence is great quality and looks fantastic on our porch. Even with a great product, I would not work with Long Fence again for my fencing needs as the amount of legwork we needed to put in to keep Long Fence on track was absolutely disappointing.
